Saturday's Critters #143

Saturday's Critters #143

Happy Saturday, it's time to share your critters and post. Any kind of critter will do, even a new or old post.. I appreciate everyone who is linking in with this week's critter party.

For my critter post I am sharing some backyard birds and butterflies. I feel sorry for this Ovenbird sitting on my deck railing, I think it was recuperating after flying into our dining room window.

The Great Spangled Fritillary are pretty common in my yard.

I am always confused with this butterfly below, not sure about the id.

Pretty sure after hearing it's call this is the Eastern PeWee, it is a cute bird.

A Chipping Sparrow looking at something.

Ruby-throated Hummingbird

As always thanks for the visits and the nice comments. I also thank everyone who is linking up and sharing their critters.. Happy Saturday, have a great weekend!

A couple of 'newbies' to my eye, the ovenbird and the peewee... what cuties! Can't help you out with the flutterby ID I'm afraid, but I do know it's pretty. Hope your weekend is looking good! YAM xx

  5. My pick is the Ovenbird, sitting quietly, looking at something, hoping all will be better in a few minutes maybe. Butterflies are so beautiful too.

  6. Good morning Eileen!:)Lovely shots taken from your window. Both butterflies are beautiful, and to me they are both uncommon. Whilst the butterflies are feeding, the birds are watching. Poor little Ovenbird,...I hate it when this happens. Had a Sparrow Hawk in my lounge a few days ago, and it was banging against the window, trying to get out! Have a great weekend!:)

  17. Poor Ovenbird-- hope it recovered. That butterfly may be a Silver-spotted Skipper. It reminds me of my grandmother's garden where they congregated on the Sweet Pea flowers. I wonder if that Chipping Sparrow sees a hawk. Nice assortment of yard birds!

I wish we got sparrows at our feeder. I don't think they like being under our big oaks. Or maybe they stay away from the blue jays.

    Have a great weekend.

  49. I've not been able to get a Great Spangled Fritillary picture this year, Eileen. I've seen some in Ashburn, Va. and also here in Berkeley Springs, but they wouldn't hold still.

    Love them, though...they're fancy pants!

I was hoping to get some photos of cedar waxwings in the mountain ash tree in my neighbour's yard yesterday. But they were not cooperating with me. I'll have to try again! Have a great weekend Eileen.

When I checked the Japanese name of the "Ovenbird", I kind of smiled. Direct translation is "furnace vermiculation" p;-)

  67. Hi Eileen. I stopped by for a visit, and really enjoyed your pictures. Your Saturday photo party is so cool, and, I am pleased to see the photo of the Cedar Waxwing on your sidebar. A few years ago, hundreds of them visited my back yard, and I didn't know what they were. I did get a few photos, but, not very good one. I hope you can take on another follower. I would really like to visit more often. And, maybe I can figure out how to link in and join your Saturday parties. Have a wonderful week!

  68. Wonderful birds -- that little one is new to me , the pewewe. So cute. I am not getting much real birding in these days sadly so I doubly appreciate the virtual experiences that you share! Love the butterflies as well.
