Glossy Ibis

Hello,

Wow, it's the last day of January. Time to say hello February.
Today, I am sharing the Glossy Ibis, another bird that seems to be common in Florida. The Glossy Ibis can be seen in various countries around the world, it is a widespread species. Their diet can be insects to mussels, crabs and crayfish.

Breeding adults have reddish-brown bodies with shiny green wings.

I hope you enjoyed my photos and post. Thank you for stopping by and as always I appreciate your comments.

My list of memes for today, I hope to see you there. Thanks to both of the host below.

I wish they were more like limpkins or mud hens. They're a little skittish and never gotten a good shot of one

A beautiful bird. I always enjoyed watching the birds at the beach. We used to love to visit Santa Rosa Island near Pensacola. The sun is shining here. Hope you have a beautiful day.

Nice work Eileen. I have seen Glossy Ibis on a couple of occasions but in poor light so never been able to get the iridescsent feathering that you captured so well. Very nice pictures indeed. Enjoy the rest of your day/week.

Beautiful captures on the Ibis! I haven’t see this kind of ibis in India, but the most common ones are white headed ibis.

Glossy Ibis is a very elegant bird, not a species that I see very often unfortunately. Occasionally - very occasionally - a vagrant shows up here, but the last one I recall was several years ago. However, many species usually found farther south are appearing here with greater frequency so perhaps Glossy Ibis is next.
