ReplyDeleteHi Eileen, I'm always re-motivated to look up birds when I visit your blog. We also get an American Purple Galinule here in South Africa - the southernmost tip at Cape Town and further up on the SA west coast on the Atlantic Ocean. Rare vagrant but found almost anywhere there. I'm too far from that part of SA so won't see them for now. Thanks for hosting this meme. I love joining in. Have a great weekend. Jo

ReplyDeletegreat snaps but you can't beat the raccoon, what an awesome capture!!!
ReplyDeleteGood morning Eileen! You always bring us lovely birds, and other critters many of which I just see or learn about for the first time! You teach me a lot, and your first photo is one of them. What pretty colors too! Enjoy your day.

ReplyDeleteMy favourite has to be the friendly waving racoon though! How comical!
Great photos and thank you for hosting!
I think storks are soooooo cool
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen any wood storks around here in several years. If I remember correctly, they have rather large, messy nests. Nice to see.
ReplyDeleteI love the Pied-billed Grebes, it is beautiful Eileen.
ReplyDeleteAnother gorgeous series of nature photos done so well ~ love the raccoon who appears to be waving at us ~ thanks for the lovely photo walk (especially since it is cold and about to snow again in New England)
ReplyDeleteWishing you a Happy and Healthy New Year ~ ^_^
That wood stork is really something. Happy 2017 to you Eileen!
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen. A wonderful selection of wildlife encounters.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes for a glorious 2017.
Love the birdy photos, Eileen. And that cute raccoon is fabulous.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Beautiful capture on the birds at Lake Park! Many lakes and water bodies at my part of world experience drought this time but still some backwaters hold birds. Love the reflection of Grebes and waving raccoon :)
ReplyDeleteGreat photos!
ReplyDeleteI have seen lots of raccoons, but never had one wave at me before.
Have a wonderful week-end!
Hi Eileen,
ReplyDeletefabulous photos of all these birds.

ReplyDeleteMB
Happy Saturday, too, Eileen! Till now I never seen before a purple gallinule. It must be a small bird, but such funny one with all those colors. And so cute raccoon, too! Have a great weekend! Best regards!
ReplyDeletelovely photos, specially the raccoon waving at us!
ReplyDeleteLooks like the raccoon was spying on you, then has the nerve to wave. That is a great shot! The Pied-billed duck's feathers look a little furry, and, it's reflection on the water is remarkable. Happy Weekend, Eileen! Suzanne
ReplyDeleteLove that friendly raccoon! Beautiful Purple Gallinule! They are becoming scarce in our neighborhood, probably because habitat has deteriorated. Of course we also have lost most of our Wood Storks, so it is so nice to see one!
ReplyDeleteLove the birds as always -- pie billed grebes are a special favorite of mine. The waving raccoon is a lovely capture!!
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen, wonderful shots of some interesting birds and the little friendly raccoon! Love the colorful Gallinule and the Wood-Stork! Hope you have a wonderful weekend! xx Karen
ReplyDeleteOh, I love that waving raccoon picture!
ReplyDeleteLove the sleeping raccoon!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful critters and a great collection! Well done!
ReplyDeleteWish you a happy new year, Eileen!
Irene
I always enjoy your bird photos!
ReplyDeleteLike the raccoon waving at you. : )
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen, I'm back! Feeling embarrassed to have been away so long, but yours is the first meme I went to, so you know it is special to me. How wonderful that you have remained so faithful to your readers and to critters as well! A Purple Gallinule may be common but I've never seen one before so it was a special treat. How beautiful it is! We do see Pied-bill Grebes but not in the area we frequent most often. I've never seen a Wood Stork either. Guess you could say I need to do some travelling in your neck of the woods! Only Great Blue Herons here. No LIttle Blue Herons as far as I've discovered, and even the Snowy Egrets are only familiar because of your and TexWisGirl's posts. I am so sad she has given up blogging (for now) but do understand. She was one of the most loyal bloggers I've ever met. Finally, I must wish you a late but very heartfelt "Happy New Year" and add that the waving raccoon really made me smile!
ReplyDeleteHe IS waving! Haha...great shot, Eileen!
ReplyDeleteAll of the birds are so pretty and I just adore that shot you took of the raccoon waving. So cute!
ReplyDeleteThe waving racoon is hilarious! Gr, John
ReplyDeleteThese critters must have known Eileen was around with her camera. ;)
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the bird in that first photo.
ReplyDeleteWhat a handsome looking creature is the Purple Gallinule.
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen, I really enjoy the Wood Storks but that Purple Gallinule is especially pretty. I think it is a cousin to the Common Moorhen and maybe the Coots if I am not mistaken. Have a wonderful Sunday tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteAll the usual great bird shots!
ReplyDeleteYou always share photos of birds that we will never see here. I am wondering which birds we have here that you might not see there. No, the northern cardinal does not come this far north. When I visit my brother in Texas, I love to photograph them. We will travel 3 hours to the east this summer to see if we can spot them in northeastern Colorado. Happy New Year, Eileen.
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy seeing some of the birds I've seen when they feature in your Blog, but the ones I haven't are good too!
ReplyDeleteDid you wave back at the raccoon? So cute!
ReplyDeleteGreat series of critters! That raccoon is awesome!
ReplyDeletethat raccoon looks so cute:)

Oh, the bird with the red beak is a beauty. I love red birds, and my dream is to one day see the red cardinal. If you ever take a picture of this beloved bird, please let me know.
