Welcome to Saturday's Critters!
If you love critters like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!
These are some photos from our latest walk on the Susquehanna River trail. I was hoping to see the Bald Eagles below the dam but the only way to get in was to take a shuttle. The parking lot was full and they let cars in when someone leaves. Hubby and I decided not to wait, neither of us likes crowds of people so we took a walk further downstream.
On the way to the river and trail we came across this large flock of Common Grackles. They are on the fields on both sides of the road. Some took off and flew across in front of my car.
I believe these are the American Black Ducks.
Cedar Waxwings, view of the river, Bald Eagle, Mallard Duck and a view of the river and bridge.
We saw a small flock of Cedar Waxwings at the beginning of the trail.
I hope you enjoyed my post and photos.

ReplyDeleteWow! Just look at the birds, so many of them! What an amazing sight! Thank you for hosting, Eileen and have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeletecool with all the grackles :) But not good in front of a car.
ReplyDeleteThe first duck seem to be a black duck. But the group are Mallards. The "hook" is clearly visible on the sleeping males tail :)
I still have not seen any waxwing and probably will not either. There is not much fruit for them to eat where I live this winter. :(
Very nice pictures and video, Eileen. Amazing that you captured a pic of the Bald Eagle. I love the Cedar Wax Wings too. Hope you have a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful birds! I love to read your post, because I'm also very fond of birds.
Happy Saturday, and enjoy your weekend!
Lindas, lindas demais! Adorei! Ótimo fim de semana! beijos, chica
ReplyDeleteGood morning Eileen. It's snowing here so I'm sat at the PC catching up with your blog and all those grackles. My, it's like a scene from that Alfred Hitchcock movie. I'm so glad you got away from the crowds to bring us those pictures. Thanks for the link-up today.
ReplyDeleteWhat a spectacular gathering of grackles-- what to call it? Murmuration refers to starlings-- Congrakelation sounds better! Any other ideas?
ReplyDeleteNow that's a flock (grackles).
ReplyDeleteAnd ending with The Lone Ranger. I love the beauty of the cedar waxwings. Happy Day.
wow! So many birds!
ReplyDeleteWow, Eileen! What a sight of all those Common Grackles! I love your Cedar Waxwing - great shot, it is a pretty bird!
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting and enjoy your weekend!
wow, a gazillion grackles in one photo. and that must be one busy place to require parking when someone leaves and also a shuttle to ride... i hope you did not overdose on birds. lol
ReplyDeleteGreat photos and your collage is very nice! Have a wonderful wintry weekend!
ReplyDeleteAmazing image of the flock of Common Grackles Eileen!!! Loved the delicate Cedar Waxwing.

Wow! Looks like a scene out of Hitchcock's "The Birds", Eileen! Thanks for hosting.
ReplyDelete...what a flock of Common Grackles!
ReplyDeleteI always think of the Alfred Hitchcock movie when I see a big flock of birds like that. How neat to see a different duck! The cold has dipped down to Florida today but it's still not bad! Enjoy your weekend! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteEileen, that is some flock of Common Grackles. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeletethat cedar waxing is stunning - they have only visited me once!!
ReplyDeletethe flocks of grackles are amazing, i have been seeing them all over my neighborhood. even though i don't love grackles, they are amazing to see in these flocks!!

Goodness, all the gackles!!
ReplyDeleteI would really have enjoyed that large flock of grackles. Those spectacles are impressive. My wife and I were once looking out the bedroom window and thousands and thousands of Common Grackles passed by. It last for several minutes and they just kept on coming. It was truly memorable.
ReplyDeleteWow, that first shot is fantastic. It's amazing how seeing a large flock birds can make you feel. I find it incredibly energizing.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend Eileen,
Andrea
Wow! That’s a huge flock of birds I ever seen and they all resemble our crow! The riverside seems to be a bird paradise and glad u got to see a bald eagle
ReplyDeleteLove the Cedar Wax Wing and the flock of cracklings ~ all wonderful photos and presentation ~
ReplyDeleteHappy Weekend to you,
A ShutterBug Explores,
aka (A Creative Harbor)
YIKES! That's a LOT of grackles. They could have used that photo in the film The Birds!
ReplyDeleteSuper shots Eileen. The Wax wing is one of my favorite birds. So slick looking. We get them in the Fall. They come to eat the berries on any tree
ReplyDeleteMB
Amazing number of Grackles!!! My goodness. And I LOVE the Waxwing perched all by itself...it's a beauty.
ReplyDeleteFabulous shots and I really enjoyed the video!

A LOT of grackles! And so noisy! :-) Loved the cedar waxwing as well.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely stunning Grackles, so many of them.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen such large groups of Grackles before. We get big flocks of starlings in the fall but not as big as that!
ReplyDeleteWow what a lot of birds!!
ReplyDeleteAll your photos are wonderful.
Well it does look so beautiful there. I am with you...wait for the crowds to die down...I just can't do that anymore. So nice to see the lovely Cedar Waxwings...I just love those birds. Thank you for everything dear friend. Hugs, Mary
ReplyDeleteNice serie. I love the last photo !
ReplyDeleteLike the picture of common grackle.. so many birds!!!
ReplyDeletelol that first shot of the common grackles reminded me of that old movie "The Birds" :)
ReplyDeleteWow, that first scene reminds me of that horror film - birds! I imagine it could be quite frightening being in the middle of that flock.
ReplyDeleteCedar waxwings are so beautiful...I don't see them very often here and never get to take photos. That sure is a bunch of grackles!
ReplyDeleteThat's a lot of Grackles!
ReplyDeleteNeat shots! I'm not a fan of crowds either.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful. Some 40,000 cranes are now visiting us on the way to warmer climes. They are all staying around one lake, an amazing sight, and there is a large scale government project to feed them so that they don't destroy the fields around the lake.

Very nice pictures of birds and landscapes .. best regards Eileen
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful shot!
ReplyDeleteAnd I am entertained.
Eileen: Thanks so much for joining us birders this weekend at I'd Rather B Birdin'. Your contribution is always so appreciated. Have a great week ahead...enjoy those birds!!!
ReplyDeleteI am always thinking of Saturday’s Critters
ReplyDeletewhen I look out the kitchen window
and see many birds at the new feeding station
with the three new feeders and one old perfect thistle seed feeder.
BUT . . . I am not fast enough to get some good pictures . . .
So I enjoy your pics and the others!
Does it count if I think of you???
Wow! That's a lot of grackles! Cute cedar waxwing.
ReplyDeleteI was also reminded of Hitchcock's Birds.
ReplyDeleteNow that's a lot of grackles. Not a fan, but I have to admit they have a beauty about them. Happy Sunday.
ReplyDeleteWe hate lines and crowds too -- I'm glad you took the other route because you saw some great birds and scenery. That sure is a lot of grackles!!
ReplyDeleteGrackles...YUK!!! I prefer the Ducks or almost anything else..Have a happy week..
ReplyDeleteWow, the Grackle flocks were amazing - Where in the world do they all come from? It's like something out of a movie, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteCedar Waxwings are so gorgeous. I think it's their coloring I'm attracted to. I do not miss the flocks of Grackles out this way, nor do I miss seeing those big, black rat snakes!!...:)JP
ReplyDeleteOh my the birds! The birds! We get that (only slightly) right after I mow!
ReplyDeleteGoodness that was a lot of Common Grackles ...
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
How many Grackles do you think that was?? I had a similar experience yesterday, in my and my neighbors' front yards. They just swooped in everywhere! When they began to swarm the feeders, I went outside to scare them off... but they didn't move! Went even closer... nothing. But when they got ON the feeders, I clapped my hands loudly and whoosh! They flew away to the back yard... People around here went to the Virginia Eastern Shore a couple of weekends back, and saw flocks of blackbirds, but mixed in there were a few Yellow-headed ones! So, check them out... you never know! Hugs!
