Hello,
Happy Monday, have a great day! I am sharing one of my all time favorite birds, the Burrowing Owl. During various trips to Florida in 2013, 2015 and 2017 I was able to see the Burrowing Owl in the wild. These are all different owls and photos taken from my archives.
Below the Burrowing Owl is perched on a sign say the area is a important bird site, a nesting area for the owls.
Many of my owl sightings were in neighborhoods, close to houses, cars, people and dogs.
The Burrowing Owls. nest in burrows. Sometimes they would come out of the burrow just enough to see the tops of their heads.
The Burrowing Owls were often see perched on the signs, warning signs to stay away from the owl's nesting area.
With my Canon SX40 I was able to zoom in on the cute owls from a distance. I would never get too close to any bird, they need their space.
They are a little owl only about 9-10 inches tall.

Hello Eileen,
How cute they are! Beautiful photos of them.
Happy Monday!
...what a handsome fellow.
Burrowing Owl, totally unknown to me but I scrolled up and down. This little owl looks so cute..... The only owls I see sometimes in my surroundings is the Tawny owl, we call it 'bosuil', but never had the opportunity to photograph it. By the way your photos are real stunning.
The Burrowing Owls in Florida that I remember were at Florida Atlantic University In Boca Raton. I don’t know if that colony is still there.
Cute and so tiny.
Hello Eileen!

Love these brave little guys. We look out for a village of them on the corner of two busy highways on our visits to Arizona. Happy Day.
I love these. We saw burrowing owls in the Badlands of South Dakota.
I'm so fascinated by owls. I really am.

Hello Eileen,:) Captivating images of all the Burrowing Owls. I am amazed that they make their nests so close to human habitation. Thanks for sharing these delightful Owls.:)
How interesting! They are beautiful birds.
awww, so cute...
...reminds me of the tiny burrowers in the desert I'd hope to see every hike
This is one I've yet to add to my list in fact my owl sightings are lacking greatly. Wow --eye popping-- is the word for your photos!!

They have such stern little faces. I love them.
They are a very different kind of owl. Here they have almost disappeared .
these are all amazing captures, they are such a beautiful bird. i have never seen one in the wild...except through you!!!
Fascinating and wonderful photos. I have never seen a Burrowing Owl in person.
They look so serious, and so brave to come out of their burrow, I always think for a bird height means safety. Lovely photos,
Very beautiful owl. He really does look wise!
Oh my - adorable x 100!
So glad you are able to zoom in for these awesome photos of one of the cutest owls around!
Thanks for sharing Eileen and have a great week!
Fantastic Burrowing Owls, I love all of them Eileen.
Woe Amazing pics. Loved the post.
Oh my gosh they are just adorable. Wonderful captures Eileen, and the last photo is so sweet it's like they paused just for you to take their picture.
You know these amazing birds are huge favorites of mine!
Owls are so cute! Great photos.
Your burrowing owl photos are terrific. And I have to say, that zoom is pretty terrific, too! Bravo -- wonderful captures.
Always a great owl....and excellent pics to boot!
Great photos! I would love to see a Burrowing Owl, but none here in MS. I would have to go to TX or FL to see one, and that is not likely to happen.
Have a wonderful week!
They are so cute, Eileen! I've only ever seen one owl - a Snowy owl that was in a park here one winter.
They're beautiful birds!
They are so beautiful! I had no idea there are owls that burrow in the ground. I would have thought they all lived in trees.
Awesome photography of the gorgeous owls!
Happy Week to you,

I especially liked the first one.

All the best Jan
Owls are cute. Beautiful images.
These birds must be used to seeing and living near humans. How nice to see that they don't feel threatened by humans.
Worth a Thousand Words
They are so cute!!
Fabulous pictures! I didn't know the Burrowing Owl was found in Florida.
Fascinating - they look so much larger!
Eileen - how blessed you are to have seen these in person, and thrice blessed to have shared them with the rest of us. If I get a Canon SX40, will I see a Burrowing Owl?
Oh how wonderful. I love seeing these beauties. How exciting to see them in the wild and capture these photos!
I love the mean look on this owls faces. Looks like they are small and fierce. I have always loved owls but I have not see one in the wild.
I just want to give that owl a gentle hug. He looks so soft and fluffy.
Gorgeous pictures! Wishing you a beautiful day!
There are Burrowing Owls out by my daughter's place in Eastern Wa. I have yet to get a good image of one. Your;s are excellent

The owls are beautiful! We don't get to see owls here.
lovely photos, burrowing owls are so cute
A lovely set of pictures Eileen. So much like our Little Owl but I do believe your Burrowing Owl has longer legs. That would make sense for their digging prowess.
I have ALWAYS wanted to see a burrowing owl. In fact, owls are largely on my photo bucket list...I've seen a few, never been able to photograph them. But never a Burrowing Owl! Fantastic photos!
Ohhh!!! Beautiful images .. Congratulations and best regards
I am a huge animal lover, but I always keep my distance from owls because they scare me slightly. They are very beautiful though!
How special to get to see those beauties --over several years... Owls are such interesting creatures.... Just gorgeous... Thanks for sharing.
Hugs,
Betsy
Such wonderful shots, Eileen!
Loving this!!

They are so adorable! Wonderful shots - so detailed. Such a thrill to see them! Hope your week is warming up a bit. x Karen
This is a new owl for me. Very interesting. You captured them beautifully.
Stopping by on my way to see more of Saturday's Critters and stopped right here...How adorable they are, such wonderful images you have shared. I have gone looking for these precious Owls when I have been in Florida, every trip...so far I have not seen a single one. Between Burrowing Owls and Manatees, I do believe that they know when I am arriving and hide... Lovely visit
last week I w´saw a program about young animals and there was a family of burow owls with 6 chicks :) So lovely to see and learn about them :)
Gorgeous photography Eileen :)
Hi Eileen, Yes, the Burrowing Owls are extra cute little birds. I used to watch a small flock that lived next to the then new library at Sacramento State when I was a student in the mid-70s. I doubt that flock is still located there due to construction and generally large student presence and parking lot in that region of the campus. Fun to see them though. Have a great Thursday tomorrow!
Dearest Eileen; First of all, what a gorgeous bird Burrowing Owl is☆☆☆ Their eyes are really impressive. And your explanation about the second picture made me smile a little♪ Yes, birdies need space, aren't they? I often (or almost always) scared them away (^^;)
Thank you SO much for hosting wonderful link, I promise linking and commenting this Saturday.
Sending Lots of Love and Hugs from Japan to my Dear friend, xoxo Miyako*
