Burrowing Owl

Hello,

Happy Monday, have a great day! I am sharing one of my all time favorite birds, the Burrowing Owl. During various trips to Florida in 2013, 2015 and 2017 I was able to see the Burrowing Owl in the wild. These are all different owls and photos taken from my archives.

Below the Burrowing Owl is perched on a sign say the area is a important bird site, a nesting area for the owls.

Many of my owl sightings were in neighborhoods, close to houses, cars,  people and dogs.

The Burrowing Owls. nest in burrows. Sometimes they would come out of the burrow just enough to see the tops of their heads.

The Burrowing Owls were often see perched on the signs, warning signs to stay away from the owl's nesting area.

With my Canon SX40 I was able to zoom in on the cute owls from a distance. I would never get too close to any bird, they need their space.

They are a little owl only about 9-10 inches tall.

As always I thank you for stopping by and as always I appreciate your comments.

My list of memes for today, I hope to see you there. Thanks to both of the host below.

Burrowing Owl, totally unknown to me but I scrolled up and down. This little owl looks so cute..... The only owls I see sometimes in my surroundings is the Tawny owl, we call it 'bosuil', but never had the opportunity to photograph it. By the way your photos are real stunning.

The Burrowing Owls in Florida that I remember were at Florida Atlantic University In Boca Raton. I don’t know if that colony is still there.

Great photos! I would love to see a Burrowing Owl, but none here in MS. I would have to go to TX or FL to see one, and that is not likely to happen.
Have a wonderful week!

They are so beautiful! I had no idea there are owls that burrow in the ground. I would have thought they all lived in trees.

These birds must be used to seeing and living near humans. How nice to see that they don't feel threatened by humans.

A lovely set of pictures Eileen. So much like our Little Owl but I do believe your Burrowing Owl has longer legs. That would make sense for their digging prowess.

I have ALWAYS wanted to see a burrowing owl. In fact, owls are largely on my photo bucket list...I've seen a few, never been able to photograph them. But never a Burrowing Owl! Fantastic photos!

Stopping by on my way to see more of Saturday's Critters and stopped right here...How adorable they are, such wonderful images you have shared. I have gone looking for these precious Owls when I have been in Florida, every trip...so far I have not seen a single one. Between Burrowing Owls and Manatees, I do believe that they know when I am arriving and hide... Lovely visit

Hi Eileen, Yes, the Burrowing Owls are extra cute little birds. I used to watch a small flock that lived next to the then new library at Sacramento State when I was a student in the mid-70s. I doubt that flock is still located there due to construction and generally large student presence and parking lot in that region of the campus. Fun to see them though. Have a great Thursday tomorrow!

Dearest Eileen; First of all, what a gorgeous bird Burrowing Owl is☆☆☆ Their eyes are really impressive. And your explanation about the second picture made me smile a little♪ Yes, birdies need space, aren't they? I often (or almost always) scared them away (^^;)

Thank you SO much for hosting wonderful link, I promise linking and commenting this Saturday.
Sending Lots of Love and Hugs from Japan to my Dear friend, xoxo Miyako*
