Saturday's Critters #216

Welcome to Saturday's Critters!

If you love critters like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

January 25, I noticed this Red-shouldered Hawk sitting in our weeping cherry tree. It is not far from my feeders and deck. This hawk looked huge, I assume it was a female. I read that the females hawks are larger than the male hawks. The female can be 25-35 percent larger than the male.

I thought I saw another large bird flying into the pine tree in the back park of the yard. I was thinking the male might have been hanging around too.

I appreciate and thank everyone who links up their post and for all the wonderful comments this past year !

Here is a list of my linky parties;

Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend!

Really a beautiful bird.
BTW no Blue Moon for me: it was too cloudy, dark, rainy...
Have a nice weekend!

not fun for us close to the feeder, but the hawk needs food too. That´s life. Great shots :)

Great capture - I do think that these birds are learning that smaller, prey birds, feed at these places and are therefore easy targets. That's nature at work! Have a great weekend. YAM xx

I wish you a very good weekend.

Nice visitor! Our local red-shoulders lost their nest in Hurricane Irma. The pine tree went down and took about 5 Melaleucas with it. They are still in the wooded grove but I cannot find their nest so far.

The hawk will now hunt for birds that will be at the feeder. This is the life of birds, sometimes cruel. Regards.

Hello Eileen. It is interesting how such large birds can "vanish" in the canopy like that. They have a knack of just sitting quietly too, part of their always successful hunting strategies.

Thanks for the linkup today. Hope your weather improves soon.

How beautiful! And it's such a good time to get pics when the leaves are off the trees. It's even easier to see birds here right now wish most leaves off the trees. Enjoy your weekend! Hugs!

The neatest thing about hawks, their screech through the woods when they are out of sight.

Great photos of the hawk Eileen. She's a pretty one. It is easier to see some of the different birds while there are no leaves on the trees. Yesterday I spotted two redheaded woodpeckers in my mulberry tree, but couldn't get a good picture of them. I was so excited to actually see two of them together! Have a great weekend, and stay warm!

They have such watchful eyes! That size thing is true about Eagles too or so it says on the website for 'our' eagle nest. I wonder if it is the same all birds of prey?
