Saturday's Critters #243

Welcome to Saturday's Critters!

If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

July 10th we hiked the trail at Calvert Cliffs State Park located on Maryland Western shore. Along the trail were lots of birds, dragonflies, turtles. We were warned about snakes and beavers but did not see any.

The Red-winged Blackbird were plentiful.  Coming soon, on my other post I shared the Kingfisher and Red-headed Woodpecker we saw at this trail.

I appreciate and thank everyone who links up their post and for all the wonderful comments!

Here is a list of my linky parties;

Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend!

Oh, excellent shots! I do love that frog.

Those red-winged blackbirds are so plentiful around here and so easy to identify that sometimes it seems like the only bird I see. You know, I haven't seen a single dragonfly this summer so I'm happy to see your great photos, they're such a part of summer. That last one looks like a hellish creature, doesn't it, especially from the side.

I like your sightings, glad you didn’t see any snake.

Hello Eileen, can you please delete my link for number 10 because I accidentally insert your post url link when I link to Saturday's Critters. So sorry for the inconvenience. I tried to delete it myself but there is no delete button. The number 11 is the correct link. Thank you and have a wonderful weekend!

Hello Eileen,

Beautiful photos! The Dragonfly is so difficult to get a good photo of. I have plenty of them here because of my pond.
Happy Weekend!

Looks like a nice place to visit. Those dragonflies are running out of perches! Yes those beavers can be aggressive. Just saw one attacking people in a kayak in yesterday's news.

that frog is so beautiful, I would love to see him like that. I have never seen frogs in the wild, only at our barrel... I have seen turtles like this and many dragon flies. your photos are fantastic.. the dead limbs decorated by dragon flies is my favorite other than the FROG

Wonderful selection of critters and lovely photos, as usual, Eileen. I like the dragonflies a lot, I have little luck in taking photos of them here. They are very jumpy in Australia and rarely sit still!

That's a great spot for turtles to sun themselves.

Of course, who doesn't love all critters (who would visit you)

In our parts, baby lizards are EVERYWHERE. Fun watching them dart around. Amazing how fast (and tiny) they are.

I'm always thrilled when I see turtles in the wild! Love your multi dragonfly pic too, Eileen!

You showed my favourite North American bird Eileen - the Red-winged Blackbird. yes, I know it may be a controversial choice but I really rate them. I was left wondering why you were warned about beavers? Is it that that might drop trees on you?sorry to be dense but we don't have beavers here.

Anyway, thanks for the link today. Enjoy your Sunday.

Great shots, Eileen!

That is a ginormous frog.

The bird at the end looks so regal!

Red-winged blackbirds have literally invaded us this year Eileen. It was unbelievable to watch them. It must have been an entire flock migrating through...:)JP

Really like the turtles on the log.
I've been to Calvert Cliffs a few times. Used to be a great place to find shark teeth.

Liked all of your critters . . .
Turtles sun bathing is a great pic . .
Bunches of Dragon Flies has my heart though . . .
Amazing!

That turtle shot is wonderful in so many ways - the composition, the number of turtles - why am I trying to explain it? I just love it! When we got back from vacation, all of the red-winged blackbirds had disappeared (they were mobbing our feeders before we left). I can only assume they have started their migration! Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Hi Eileen, U didn't have a critter post this week due to all sorts of issues. I should be back into photographing cows and calves this coming week ! Thanks for your regular comments to my blog even when I don't get back to yours. Have a great day. Jo

As I was looking at your pictures the thought came to me that you truly do love all creatures "great and small," and it shows in your posts and photos.

Sallie (FullTime-Life) said...

The dragonfly pictures are so good! I love them.... What is that first critter? Some kind of lizard I guess. Couldn’t help wondering Why they need to warn hikers about beavers. Snakes I get , but do beavers ever actually get up on the paths? And even if they do, would they actually attack?

Pat @ Mille Fiori Favoriti said...

The dragonflies are so interesting, Eileen. For some reason all the kids I knew growing up in Brooklyn called them "dining needles" :)

I'm sure you are glad not to have been in Florida this summer with that horrible and sad red tide going on. I feel so sad to see the news and all the dead sea life. I wonder if it affects the birds that eat the fish too?

Jeanie said...

Beautiful images, Eileen. I hope to join you soon on one of these!
