Welcome to Saturday's Critters !
If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!
More photos from Bombay Hook NWR, we saw some wonderful birds. The large white birds with black wings are the American Avocets and the birds in flight maybe Dunlins and Plovers. These images are best enlarged.

I am pretty sure the birds sitting right in front of the Avocets are the Short-billed Dowitchers. But, they are so far away there could also be the Long-billed Dowitchers.
Below are the American Avocets, Dowitchers, Semipalmated Plovers and maybe more thrown in.
I think the Egrets were gathering so they could south south together.
I admire the birders who can watch one group of birds looking to see if there is a different species mixed in. I did notice with this group there were a few Black-bellied Plovers mixed in with the Avocets and Dowitchers. Can you find them?
I appreciate and thank everyone who links up their post and for all the wonderful comments !
Here is a list of my linky parties;
Also visit: I'd-Rather-B-Birdin. Thanks to the gracious host: Anni.
Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend!

What fantastic photos of all the birds gathering, it's quite the sight. Thanks for hosting and have a wonderful weekend.
The reflections double the size of already sizable flocks. Great captures.
Wow! What a view! I like seeing these end-of-season meetings of birds…
I saw many Cranes this autumn in the countryside of Finland, ready to migrate.
Thanks for sharing such a joyful picture!
Have a joyful weekend!
Great pictures of “gathering critters!”
The number of birds and the mix of species there is quite staggering Eileen. Your Bombay Hook does you proud every time. Thanks for the link up today.
These are amazing! Safety in numbers... Well done! Have a great weekend!
Amazing birds, amazing photos! How long have you been birding; your knowledge of birds is impressive. I love watching the migration of birds which happens like clockwork!
Wonderful photographs! Wow! I would have loved to hear their chatter. -Marci @ Stone Cottage Adventures
Oh heartstoppingly beautiful, Eileen. What captures. Thanks for hosting this meme. Have a great weekend. Jo
How wonderful to see the birds in large flocks like tat, Eileen! Very impressive.
Wonderful! Shorebirds are some of my favs although I have a hard time figuring out one from the other on LB or SB Dowitchers, immature gulls, and peeps! Although it's hard to miss those BBPL in the mix. Have a great ending to Sept!
PS: Thanks for hosting, Eileen.
these group of birds are so amazing!! i always wonder how the birds know who to hang with?? they don't know what they themselves look like, it must be a natural instinct!!
beautiful captures eileen, many thanks for hosting and have a great weekend. the weather is suppose to be perfect!!
Wow! That's a lot of birds!
Thanks for hosting Saturday's Critters!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Really impressive flocks!
it's amazing to think about how many kinds of birds there are! Thanks for sharing your great photos.
Wow! We never see these birds in large flocks. On the breeding grounds they are in ones and twos.
I have not the chance to see so many birds in one place! What a wonderful sight!
There are thousands ... What a wonder.
I wish you a good weekend Eileen.
Besos.
Hello Eileen,
I can not add my blog to the critters on Saturday.
Best regards, Irma
Great shots, Eileen! Have a great new week.
Eileen, enjoy viewing your Bombay Hook NWR visit. Thanks for sharing.
They fly so far for such tiny birds. a tiny poem with p[lovers in it I did this week.
Where You Lead Me
As I sit beside the sea
In solitude,
Only the wind and the waves
Blow upon my face
And over my ears
In one continuous
Ever repeating pattern
That soothes my soul,
Relinquishes control
In life, where it is
Only an illusion...
To find peace in knowing
The only solution,
Is to be still, to look,
To listen, to let go
As the winds blow,
And the waves wash before you,
Like the solitary
Surviving plovers,
As they do
What plovers
Are destined to do,
In rhythm with the flow
Of the sea...
And so I must go
Where You lead me...
Hi Eileen, Wow, these photos from Bombay Hook NWR are just wonderful! Thank you for sharing and for hosting Saturday's Critters. In my humble opinion, this meme is one of the best I've found in the blogosphere. Thank you also for following along on my blog and your kind comments. I hope my voyage brings back great memories from your cruise to Alaska. I think I have a "critter" pic or two coming up in my post on Icy Strait Point and will link that up with Saturday's Critters. Thanks again and have a happy weekend! John
Beautiful images Eileen. I love the Semipalmated Plovers and Avocets. Have a nice weekend.
Wow! so many birds and awesome nature shots!
Happy Day,

A wonderful gathering! I can't read my comments on my blog posts anymore. Google is saying it's "secure content"...just to let people know I hope you will comment anyway if you can, and I will try to get this fixed, if possible!
Eileen - these are amazing photos! So many birds gathered in one spot. It brought to mind Disney World or some other large tourist attraction … especially when you mentioned the egrets gathering to go south together. All they need is a leader with a flag or an umbrella …. Thanks for hosting, and enjoy the rest of your weekend.
These are amazing pics, Eileen! I saw a large flock of Blue Jays yesterday that I think were gathering to fly south together. I had never seen them in such a large group before!
Wow, that is a lot of bird ! Nice !
Marvelous photos Eileen, those first two almost look like two wonderful paintings of abstract art.
Goodness, that is a lot of birds.
Great photographs.
Enjoy your weekend and early wishes for a good October!
All the best Jan
Wow that is a lot of birds.
I love how not only can you name the species but can pick out the intruders mixed in as well. I saw a big white bird the other day at the Horicon Marsh and am so embarrassed I have no idea what it was. I need to learn how to use reverse look-up.
Wow! So many birds! How awesome!
so many of them!
I am speechless!! Amazing. Your contribution this week was awesome, as always. Thanks for joining us at I'd Rather B Birdin'
wow, so many birds!
Wow, amazing photos!!!
Have a nice Sunday

Wow, that's a lot of birds!
That's a whole lot of birds!
Oh my birds, and birds and birds and so many more birds too hard to even count! What a day out you had. I was hoping to get our usual visits with animals/critters at the Renaissance yesterday but it was so cold most of them were not in attendance. So no camel or elephant rides, only two snakes (tucked deep inside their owners clothes with just their little heads sticking out) so my critter count was way low! Enjoy your week ahead Eileen.
Unfortunately I am not good at shore birds, Eileen although I think I found a few of the Plovers in the pic (they're about the only ones I know...LOL!)…:)JP
All I can say is WOW!
WOW, Eileen, just WOW! I wouldn't even know where to look, and would probably forget to take pictures. What a wonderful and amazing sight!!
isn't it fun to see so many of these wonderful birds together! I am so bad at IDing shorebirds and waders -- I admire your skill so much. Thank you as always for sharing your beautiful photos and knowledge --
I don't think I have ever seen so many birds in the one place. Just amazing.
Now that's a lot of birds! I hope some of those birds flying south wills top by here. It's hard to find a bird anywhere around here, with the exception of bluebirds and they stay here all winter. I'm a little late. Internet issues are causing me to grumble a lot lately. :) Have a wonderful week!
I'm a little behind. I never heard of a Dowitcher.. It is quite a collection of birds. Thanks for sharing. Have a good week.
Wow ! that's a lot of birds !!!!
this is something I will never see in Sweden. Not even in places with migrating birds :( I envy you!
That first shot is majical
(I'm back!)
Wow - amazing. That would be my dream come true - fabulous photos.
