Happy Thankful Thursday
It is hard to believe March is only a few days away. On March 8th we spring forward an hour and it is only 21 days till spring. I am looking forward to more daylight, YAY!
Just a heads up, any replies will be done on my blog. I am trying to cut back on emails and computer time. Thank you for your comments on my last post, they are much appreciated.
One day I was looking out the window to see a cute Carolina Chickadee fussing at 2 Eastern Bluebirds. They were arguing about who owned the birdhouse. I am not sure who won, I am not always looking out to watch took over the house.
While the Bluebirds were checking out the house, the Chickadee walked around the ledge fussing. This house made by my son has 4 sections, like a condo.
Feb 20th, while taking a walk on our local fire road I noticed the GB Herons have returned to the nest. I think this is one of the earliest times I have seen 2 Great Blue Herons on their nest in our neighborhood.

I am thankful to for each year more herons return to our neighborhood to nest. The morning temperature is like 18-19°. We go from the teens in the morning to temp in the mid 50's during the day.
Feb 20th, 2 Great Blue Herons flying over the house and to their nest across from our driveway.
While I was filling up my bird feeders I watched this flock of blackbirds flying over. The line of birds must have gone on for miles. The birds look like tiny black specks below with some tiny white clouds.
I tried to zoom in on the, but they were too high in the sky to make out what kind of bird. Most likely Starlings and Grackles.
I am thankful for the variety of books available as ebooks from my library.
These are some of the books I read last week:
Pardonable Lies ( Maisie Dobbs # 3) by Jacqueline Winspear
Messenger of Truth (Maisie Dobbs #4) by Jacqueline Winspear
Find Her (DD Warren series #8) Lisa Gardner
The Body in the library (Miss Marple #3) Agatha Christie
Look for Me ( DD Warren # 9 ) Lisa Gardner
I may skip around reading different authors but I like to read the series in order.
I am always thankful for your visit and comments.
Live simple and be happy! 😊

Hello Chica, thanks so much for the comment and visit. Wishing you a happy day and a great weekend!
Bluebirds are very nice birds!
We have the Great Tit that looks like your Carolina chickadee a little bit. They're gorgeous birds!
The blue heron also has a brother in the Netherlands, the gray heron! All are god creation, and we are grateful !! Wishing you a very nice day!
Hola Eileen. Que buenos avistamientos de esos nidos. El pájaro azul es precioso. Buen biblioteca. Yo ahora estoy leyendo A merced de un dios salvaje . Y me está gustando.
Te deseo un buen miércoles.
Un abrazo
Hello Eileen,
The Eastern Bluebirds are so beautiful, and I love blue birds.
Wishing you a nice day!
Nice bird photos. Those bluebirds are beautiful. You're lucky to have Great Blue Herons nesting near your house, so you can get photos of them. That line of black birds flying along was impressive.
As an FYI with regard to ebooks: I don't know if you know it, but Amazon offers free kindle books to read. The selections change over time, but they always have a few for $0.00. You don't need a kindle to read them: you can read them online while you're logged into your Amazon account, which is free to create, if you don't have one already. Another good resource for ebooks that are in the public domain and therefore free to read are links like https://www.gutenberg.org/
Signs of spring are all around you, Eileen. Red-winged Blackbirds have already returned here.
Hello Ella, Yes, I am thankful for all God's creations. Thanks so much for the comment and visit. Wishing you a happy day and a great weekend!
Hello Marit, thanks so much for the comment and visit. Wishing you a happy day and a great weekend!
Hello Anne, I have found a lot of free books on Amazon and I joined the Kindle Unlimited too. I will check out the link you shared. I do love all the birds. Thanks for the comment and visit. Have a great day!
You are definitely reading some of my favorite authors. I am trying to branch out but some authors are special! Love seeing those nests! And what a lot of birds. I saw Boat Tailed Grackles at the library yesterday. They were noisy! heehee! Enjoy your day!
Hello David, I thought I have heard the Red-winged Blackbird here. I have not seen them in my yard.
Thanks so much for the comment and visit. Wishing you a happy day and a great weekend!
Lots of fun! We are in the middle of a snowstorm...
The little bluebird is so cute! The birdhouse your son made is awesome! I'm ready for daylight savings too! Have a great day!
I hope the birds will share your condo....my Martin houses normally get blue birds and Great Crested Flycatcher nesting...
It must be so nice to watch the herons go through the nesting and rearing of the young. I have to confess I don't have the patience to read books much anymore! I used to go thru volumes of reading material...but when I ended up with bifocals it seemed to take the enjoyment out of the experience for me. I do enjoy books on tape sometimes though. We have SUN today finally.
A delight the birds are safe in your hands, beautiful.
Hello Eileen,
my stupid WP Reader's page sometimes does not load your posts. Grrrr!
Love the Chickadees...how delicate colours.
Enjoy your day!
Oh so many books to read, and birds to watch. Abundance! LeeAnna
Enjoy the snow Jenn! Thanks so much for the comment and visit. Wishing you a happy day and a great weekend!

Hello Sondra, I have not tried the audio books. I know a lot of people enjoy listening to book while they are driving. Thanks so much for the comment and visit. Wishing you a happy day and a great weekend!
Hello Diane, Some of my books were from seeing your book list. The Grackles are noisy birds! Thanks so much for the comment and visit. Wishing you a happy day and a great weekend!

Hello LeeAnna, there are too many books to read. Thanks so much for the comment and visit. Wishing you a happy day and a great weekend!
I saw a huge number of birds high in some distant trees yesterday and could not make out what they were but they seemed to be Cardinals if that is possible since I have never seen so many together.
Love your book choices. I like to read them in order too although just read a Louse penny book and had skipped two. I just got those two to now read and fill in the blanks.
Hello Eileen,
These are nice series of photos.
All perfectly photographed, the first photo is my favorite
Best regards, Irma
...it looks like spring is in the air in your neck of the woods Eileen, enjoy!
Lovely to see the bluebirds and chickadees checking out the nest boxes! Great that your herons are back on the nest, our nearest heronry is filling up with birds returning to their nests, amazing to see
I always have plenty of chickadees but not many bluebirds. Nice to see the herons. I had an eagle fly in front of my suburban on the way home yesterday. A great surprise. Thanks for linking up.
Those elusive herons, so hard to see even with your helpful outline. Ebooks, I do like paper ones, but the E reader availability and variety is huge, and not so heavy to hold if you like to read on the bed, or in bed at night.
As always, photos that make my heart smile. I should move my birdhouse now that we're closing in closer to nesting time!
Beautiful photos, the bluebird is amazing. They are one of my favorites.
Have a nice evening.
Beautiful bird pictures as always. Daylight hours are already noticeably longer, aren't they?
Things are moving right along. We have some owls on the nest now and magpies are carrying nesting material.
Hello, Thanks for the comment. Louise Penny is one of my favorite mystery authors. I have read all of hers and now I am waiting for her newest to come out. Wishing you a happy day and a great weekend!

Hello Red! Thanks for the comment. Wishing you a happy day and a great weekend ahead!
Something comforting and reassuring about birds returning to nest in the same place every year. Wonderful that they are right across from your driveway and you can keep an eye on them!
First of all, please don't worry about replying to these texts...take care of yourself. I enjoy your birds and am so glad the herons are returning. It is fun watching them through your blog. That is cute/funny about the bluebird and chickadee.
wow...what an accomplished reader you are!!
you are so lucky to have the herons so close and also to return each year!! the bluebirds are so beautiful, i hope they won!!
Thanks Debbie, I think I read more than sleep! Enjoy your day!
Thanks Rose! Wishing you a happy day and a great weekend ahead!

Pretty little bluebirds. It must have been fascinating to watch the birds fuss. Looking forward to more Great Heron shots this spring and summer.
Great
These are wonderful photos again! I didn't even recognize the grey herons, good that you marked them! These flocks of birds in the sky are always so interesting, especially because they always fly in the same order!
Have a nice evening and a good day!
Best, Julie
I love seeing great blue herons. I don’t know why, part of it is maybe that even I can identify them. They seem to be everywhere. I’ve seen them in the pastures of western Oklahoma and hanging out on the Gulf Coast.
I love how much reading you do. One goal of mine when I retire is to read a lot more. I also appreciate your attempt to cut down on online time. I love reading blogs and social media but it is easy to go overboard.
I also love your positive outlook. And thank you for the kind words for my brother.
You blog is a walk through nature!
I'm thankful!

Fabulous shot of the bluebird!
You're so lucky to have bluebirds so nearby! The other day I watched 100s of black skimmers like your over head flight images...amazing to watch, isn't it?
Happy Friday!! Thank you for your visit and your kind words, You have captured so many different shades of blue in this post, blue being my favorite color!! Thank you again!
