Happy Monday everyone!
"All is well, that's my new philosophy."
On April 3rd hubby and I walked on the trails at the Hashawha Nature Center. I checked before leaving home that the trails were open, it is a Carroll County Park. We walked a couple of miles and did not seen any other people, just another couple we noticed as we were leaving.
My FOY Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher, they seemed to be everywhere we walked in the park that day.
Me and my shadow starting the loop trail at Hashawha Nature Center.
It is nice to see the trees starting to bloom and some have the red buds.
I caught a movement near this pond and was surprised to see 2 River Otters running away from us, they were following a creek that goes into the pond. They were moving too fast for a photo.
Bluebells, Helleborus, and a white unknown wildflower.
We walked the loop trail past the Raptor Mews and Martin Cabin, it is home to a few species like the Bald Eagle, Red-tailed Hawk, Barred Owl, a Great-horned Owl and a Screech Owl.
At the Hashawha lake we saw a pair of Canada Geese, a Robin and lots of Slider Turtles.
Covid 19 update, as I typed this post Maryland residents were still being asked to stay at home. They are expecting this week April 5-11th to be a bad outbreak week, more positive cases to be reported. Thankfully the Maryland Governor is on top of this, giving out current information and he is honest and reports the facts. We have found most of what we needed at the food store. The price of gas in our area $1.95 a gallon, not bad. Too bad we can't take a road trip now. I hope everyone stays safe, strong and calm.

Hello Eileen,
ReplyDeleteI love to see the flowers today, and they are wonderful! I think the white unknown flower maybe are a Tiarella.
Have a nice day!
Hello Marit, Thank you for the plant id. Take care! Enjoy your day, have a great new week!
DeleteLooks like a great place for a walk. All my local areas are far less leafy!
ReplyDeleteHope you are well - Stewart M - Melbourne
Thanks Stewart! Take care! Enjoy your day, have a great new week!
DeleteWe are still on stay at home orders too. :-(
ReplyDeleteThe only birds I'm seeing are my very fat backyard robins.
Thanks Dee! I hope this stay at home, end soon! Take care! Enjoy your day, have a great new week!
DeleteHello Eileen,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos and collages of your walk.
It's wonderful to live in nature and hardly see people.
We also walk every day, but we meet many people, here you have to keep 1.5 meters apart, but they prefer you to stay inside.
Best regards Irma
Hello Irma, it is the same here. Thanks for visiting. Take care! Enjoy your day, have a great new week!
Lots of lovely photos, Eileen. It's lovely to see Spring all around us, even as so much of life is uncertain just now.
ReplyDeleteThank you Juliet! Take care! Enjoy your day, have a great new week!
DeleteHari OM
ReplyDeleteEverything looking sparkling at your end... in nature at least. We are likely to have an announcement about extended lockdowns here... folk are starting to fray a bit. YAM xx
Hello Yam, we are hearing thee will be extensions too. Take care! Enjoy your day, have a great new week!
DeleteTua filosofia é muito boa! Tuas fotos sempre lindas! beijos, tudo de bom, chica
ReplyDeleteThank you Chica! Take care! Enjoy your day, have a great new week!
DeleteHello Eileen!
ReplyDeleteHow nice that you can move freely in nature!
In the Netherlands the rule "stay at home" also applies! It was such a nice weather the last few weeks ... luckily I have the garden and we sit outside!
Have a good new week ahead!
Stays safe!
Hello Ella, it is good to get outside for some fresh air. We always keep our distance and now have a homemade mask. I hope you are well. Take care! Enjoy your day, have a great new week!
DeleteI enjoyed the pics from your walk...I would have loved to see the otters. They are supposed to be around here, but I have never had the pleasure of seeing one. LOVE the turtles shots.
ReplyDeleteThanks Rose! I love seeing those turtles, they move quick though. Take care! Enjoy your day, have a great new week!
DeleteIt is reassuring that your state's governor is truthful and delivering unbiased facts - more than you can say about your national government, unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteHello David,
DeleteYes, I am happy with our governor. He is doing a great job. As far as our national government, we only need to hear the facts and preferably from a doctor. Thanks for the comment! Enjoy your day, have a great new week!
Glad you could get out for a nice walk. I would love to see some otters!!
ReplyDeleteHi Vera, I wish I saw the otters before they started running. They were a blur. Thanks for the comment. Have a great day!
DeleteI wonder if the creatures and plants are enjoying the current peaceful times. There is always a bit of irony to life. Fuel prices are rock bottom now that people aren’t traveling and have nowhere to go.
ReplyDeleteHello, it would be nice if we could travel now, the prices are so low. Thanks and Take care! Enjoy your day, have a great new week!
Delete...a wonderful spot to be out in and enjoy nature. Take care.
ReplyDeleteThanks Tom! Take care! Enjoy your day, have a great new week!
DeleteI'm so glad that you are still out and about. Stay safe.

Thank you Amalia! I hope you are well! Take care! Enjoy your day, have a great new week!
DeleteIn Turkey, we are working from home. There is no lockdown normally.
ReplyDeleteHello, I am glad you can work from home. Take care! Enjoy your day, have a great new week!
DeleteI love the birds but the turtles are my favourite any time they are around.
ReplyDeleteThanks Marie! I love the turtles too. Take care! Enjoy your day, have a great new week!
DeleteOur gas prices are way down here too but most people are staying at home. We have cut our hikes down to a couple of times a week and I sure miss it. Not many trails open now and I want to stay safe. Love seeing your shadow shots and the signs of Spring! Take care and stay healthy!
ReplyDeleteHello Diane, I am glad some parks are still open where we can walk. Thanks for the comment. Take care, enjoy your day!
DeleteI really love the color of the Robin on your Mosaic. Blues and Browns look perfect together in my eyes :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment. Take care, enjoy your day!
DeleteThat was a lovely walk! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jenn for the comment. Take care, enjoy your day!
DeleteHope you are doing well and sound.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pics. Loved the post.
Have a nice week ahead. Stay well.
Thanks for the comment. Take care, enjoy your day!
Deleteit has been five weeks since I put gas in my KIA and I paid 2.49 a gallon. now it is 1.92 and I still have 3/4 of a tank. only drive 6 miles every Tuesday. a beautiful place to walk, Some parts of FL are really cracking down more. Ocala has closed all the parks, Kissimnee starting today, 500 dollar fine or 60 days in jail if you are caught in public with out a face covering. that has blown my mind.
ReplyDeleteHello, the gas should get even more cheaper. We have not been driving far. Unless people can make their own mask to wear, there is a shortage of mask for the health care workers.
DeleteWhat a nice nature trail. I haven't heard of this one. The pictures are a nice reminder that there's life out there beyond our houses. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment. Take care, enjoy your day!
DeleteHi Eileen, as aways I enjoy your walks. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteHello Barbara, thanks for the comment. Take care, enjoy your day!

ReplyDeletethanks for sharing these beautiful views of nature...the weather seems great too.
Love the birds and the helleborus flowers|
Stay safe you too and have a great new week ahead!
Hello Luisella, Thanks for the comment. Take care, enjoy your day!
DeleteHope you had a blessed Easter. We used to live in an area with river otters, so cute but they could be very snippy too. LOL Gas here is $1.59 a gal. which is amazing. However, we can't go anywhere.
ReplyDeleteDawn aka Spatulas On Parade
Hello Dawn, the otters are cute critters. I was happy to see them. Maybe our gas prices will go down more. Thanks for the comment. Take care, enjoy your day!
DeleteHI Eileen, hope you are not in line for the storms that hit us at 6 am this morning...WOW it was scary 8 people lost their life :o( A really nice post today with the Gnatcatcher they are such a treat to watch, and thank goodness a natural predator to help keep the balance, really great news that you saw River Otter, I've been seeing them too and Im really happy about that. Gas here is some cheaper, I paid $1.59 yesterday ours is not as heavily taxed as some areas are, and just north of us its even cheaper! The cases continue to grow of the virus in the larger cities, and per-capita my town is really doing horrible! Have a great week in spite of all the tribulations we seem to have going on currently.
ReplyDeleteHello Sondra, I think we do pay more taxes on a gallon of gas. The otters were a treat to see, they are cute. We did have storms go through and a tornado watch. Thanks and take care! Have a happy day!
DeleteSeeing otters in the wild would be a real thrill for me! I'm glad you were able to get out for a hike, Eileen!
ReplyDeleteI was thrilled to see the otters. Thanks for the comment. Take care, enjoy your day!
DeleteLucky you! All our trails were closed. As always Elieen, fantastic images.
ReplyDeleteWe are lucky to have some parks open, just as long as we keep our distance. Not many people out walking, which is good for us. Thanks for the comment. Take care, enjoy your day!
DeleteIt's wonderful that you are out and about and enjoying nature. Lots of beautifu photos from your walks, thanks for sharing them.
ReplyDeleteHello Bill, Thanks for the comment. Take care, enjoy your day!
DeleteWe have river otters up at the cabin, but they are rarely seen. One time I washing dishes at the sink and saw two heading my way. They played around under the cabin float for about half an hour before heading east towards the main part of the lake. - Margy
ReplyDeleteHello, Margy,
DeleteThe otters are fun to see, so playful. Thanks for the comment. Take care, enjoy your day!
That nature center really looks like it yielded up some beautiful birds. What a fabulous walk, Eileen.
ReplyDeleteHello Jeanie, it is always good to get outside for a walk. Thanks for the comment. Take care, enjoy your day!

Hello Carol, Thanks for the comment. Take care, enjoy your day!
Deletewhat a nice place to spend a day hiking and watching nature and wildlife. I like ponds like this one. Much to see around them. Wonderful.
ReplyDeleteOur scientists ware a bit surprised. People living in Stockholm actually stayed at home during Easter holidays. Stockholm is the city most affected by the virus so, good they did not travel. :)
Hello, I hope things are back to normal soon..We are lucky to get outside for fresh air and a walk.
DeleteThanks for the comment. Take care, enjoy your day!
We took a similar hike. Saw the bluebells AND the trillium. http://www.looseleafnotes.com/2020/04/wild-things-and-wild-flowers/
ReplyDeleteThanks Colleen, I love to see the wildflowers. Take care, enjoy your day!
DeleteI love your new philosophy. I also love that you have great outdoors place you can escape to and are pretty self sufficient. Enjoy the low gas prices. They should be getting lower. You can get gasoline here in Tulsa for $1.39 a gallon. I'm in the energy biz but it goes up and down and is a high risk business. So I say, let the market work things out.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week!
Hello Yogi, your gas is much cheaper there, we do pay a lot of state taxes on a gallon. Thank you for your visit and comment. Take care, Have a happy day!
DeleteBeautiful! All is well here, too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ellen! Take care, have a happy day!
DeleteGood that you got to go for a hike and the trails were open. Everything closed here. I think the white flower you wondered about is a type of Pachysandra or Mountain Spurge.
ReplyDeleteMB
Thanks MB, you are right on with the Pachysandra plant id. Take care and have a happy day!
DeleteWhat a great place to walk and take pictures. At least we can still get out and walk!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Karen! We are happy to get outside for a walk. Take care, enjoy your day!
Deleteare yard has been super busy ... i think the birds know i need some entertainment. LOL!! being the lockdown and all. very cool sightings. ( ;
ReplyDeleteThanks Beth! The birds are my entertainment. Thanks for visiting! Have a happy day!
Deletecalm, peace and beautiful views....love all photos.
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter
Thank you for your visit and comment. Have a happy day!
DeleteEileen - so glad you are able to get out and about, and with such an abundance of wildlife. Otters! Fantastic! And the gnat-catcher, too. Our spring birds are slow in coming, but they will come. We are enjoying the sunshine and warming temperatures. Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday, my friend!
ReplyDeleteHello Angie, I hope to see more spring birds moving back into my yard.. The otters were a surprise to see.
DeleteThank you for your visit and comment. Have a happy day!
Nice photos! Yesterday I got gas for $1.59 a gallon!
ReplyDeleteHello Linda, $1.59 is great. I have not check recently our might have gone down more. Thank you for your visit and comment. Have a happy day!
DeleteHi Eileen. It's great that you are able to get out and do your walks. Good also that you're being kept well informed. Looks like we will be another 3/4 weeks yet. I guess those gnatcatchers are some of the first migrants? Stay well and safe.
ReplyDeleteHello Phil, the Gnatcatchers are a summer bird for my area, they are cute. Take care and thanks for the visit! Have a great day!
DeleteHello eileen,
ReplyDeleteNice shots have you made of all these wonderful places of nature.
And so special with the beautiful birds and turttles. Funny shot of your own shadow.
Greetings, Marco
Hello Marco, Thank you for your visit and comment. Have a happy day!
DeleteI enjoy coming along with you on your walks. You are fortunate to have so much space to yourself.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your visit and comment. Have a happy day!
DeleteI am glad to know you two are well . And thank you for sharing that beautiful walk! I am so glad to be home in Oregon where I trust our Governor to, like yours, provide good info and do her best for her fellow citizens. Unlike Florida. Can you still go out to walk? We are practicing social distancing now in our apartment, ordering groceries, etc not seeing our family even though we are close. but we can walk outside and intend to do that as soon as we get dug out from the trip.
ReplyDeleteHello Sallie, I do not like the Governor of Florida, he was slow to act. I am glad we can get outdoors for the walks and fresh air. Thank you for your visit and comment. Have a happy day!
DeleteI love seeing all the wonderful sights on your walk, thank you Eileen. I think your white flower may be the Allegheny-spurge. There is something here that looks like it.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.louistheplantgeek.com/4-a-gardening-journal/258-pachysandra-procumbens
Hello Denise, thank you for the link and plant id. I think you are correct. I appreciate your comment and visit. Have a happy day!
Deleteso fortunate to have these lovely areas to go walking and still be socially distanced. Enjoy, have a great week and stay safe.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jill! There were not many people out, we only saw 2 way across the lake. Thank you for your comment and visit. Have a happy day!
DeleteThank you for your visit and comment. Have a happy day!
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen, Nice pictures of the birds, otters and the area. Stay safe. Greetings Caroline
ReplyDeleteyou are so lucky to have a beautiful place to walk, filled with lot's of wildlife. all walking, bike riding paths are closed here, all blocked with orange plastic fencing. we ride our bikes in our neighborhood, but it is just houses and trees....i am grateful nonetheless!!
ReplyDeletei don't think i have ever seen a gnatcatcher, it is a pretty bird!! nice encounters, the wildflowers are beautiful!!!
i enjoyed your shadows, it has become your trademark!!
Mother Nature Is So Please These Days - Fabulous Shadows
ReplyDeleteCheers
Un agradable paseo habéis dado. En España no podemos y se echa de menos amiga no ver la naturaleza. Gracias por compartir.
ReplyDeleteCuidaros Eileen.
Desde casa os mando este abrazo 🙅
These are fascinating photos. It is touching to see this sight from your world!
ReplyDeleteStay healthy and take care of yourself during this time!
Greetings Elke
Very nice ! Love the "shadow" !
Adorei as imagens! Essa região proporciona sempre cenários lindos! Beijinhos! Cuidem-se bem!
