Our World, My World

 Happy Monday!

I have been enjoying my back yard birds and blooms, they are a simple pleasure during these Covid times.  Maryland is opening up a little more each week.  Now, we have open restaurants with inside dining at a 50% capacity limit.  Some places are closing streets in the afternoon and setting up tables outside.  Hubby and I prefer the outside dining at this time.  We finally saw our son and DIL,  we stopped for some carry-out dinner to take to their place and ate outside on their deck.

Some images of our clematis and a Ruby-throated Hummingbird sitting near the feeder.

Love this clematis, lots of blooms this year.

Hubby and I enjoy our walks on the local fire roads, some of nice views of the reservoir.   A view of the fire road, our walk for the day.

These are a few of the birds we saw off the fire road, the House Wren top left, Gray Catbird top right. Bottom on left I am guessing it is a Wood PeWee and bottom right is the Red-eyed Vireo.

These pretty ferns grow along the fire road. We heard lots of birds around us, like the Waterthrush, Ovenbird, Titmouse, Chickadees, WB Nuthatch, Pileated Woodpecker, Red-bellied Woodpecker, Blue-gray Gnatcatchers, Scarlet Tanagers, various Vireos and Flycatchers. One sounded like a Acadian Flycatcher.

We saw a few butterflies flying around during our walk, this Black Swallowtail landed nearby.

 A view of the reservoir.

The mountain laurels are blooming, mostly white blooms. Some times they are pink in color.

I hope you enjoyed these images from my little corner of the world,  we continue to do well. BTW, I finally found yeast in the store and have made my first loaf of no-knead bread.  It was super easy to make, it turned out well and tasted delicious.  Next on my list to make is homemade pizza/flatbread dough. I am looking for an easy recipe..

Staying safe and still keeping our distance until we feel safe to be traveling more.   I hope you all are doing well too.  I hope everyone is safe, happy and healthy. Take care and stay well.

Thanks again for your comments, check back for replies!

  9. Hello Eileen,
The clematis blooms beautifully, the Ruby-throated Hummingbird is also great to see.
Very nice the colage with the different birds.
Here the restaurant is also open again, but with far fewer tables, you have to keep 1.5 meters away.
I wish you a nice new week.

  10. Your clematis is stunning Eileen, so many flowers! We are still adhering to the lockdown rules here in UK, we haven't been able to meet up with family since we arrived back from France 3 months ago, my nephews have started Zoom Family Quiz nights on Saturday evenings so we are getting together that way, really hoping though that we will be able to visit them soon.
    Stay, well, stay safe.

  21. I was so excited. I bought myself a tiny geranium to put on the condo porch. It is blooming like crazy, and attracted the first hummingbird I've ever seen here in the city. I tried to buy a hummingbird feeder last week but they didn't have the one I wanted to add to my pickup order. Sometimes they have things in the store but don't include them for the pickups. I'm still trying to stay out of stores and restaurants. - Margy

  23. Yeast seems to be coming back just as things are opening up. We were lucky as a neighbor had an extra jar (due to a misunderstanding of a delivery order at the beginning of lockdown, just before it was all gone). My husband says the best thing about making bread is the kneading, so we nver have no-knead bread -- I hope you enjoy it and the pizza.

  66. Beautiful photos Eileen. I really love the trails through the woods. So tranquil. We seem to be on more or less the same schedule as your are with regards to lifting of CV 19 restrictions but I continue to isolate. I went out on Thursday evening to buy some groceries and there was a lot of life on the street. The first time I've seen that since the pandemic was announced. There were people walking, driving, sitting on patios, and some lined up for the liquor store which always has a line up at the weekend. I found the super market very busy also but thankfully I did not have to line up. I'm glad you and your husband are able to go or walks near your home and see so much green space and nature.
