Saturday's Critters # 352

Welcome to Saturday's Critters!

Hello and happy Saturday!

If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

I have some yard birds and a yard critter to share for my post today.  The Ruby-throated Hummingbirds continue to visit the 3 feeders I have hanging out for them. They are such fun to watch zooming around the yard and deck.

Lately I have been seeing more Cardinals, Chipping Sparrows and the White-breasted Nuthatch visiting my feeders.

Here is the deck raccoon, showing up in the daylight hours.  Hubby bravely chased it away. The squirrels already emptied the squirrel proof bird feeder, but the raccoon was looking for leftover crumbs.

I have also been seeing some American Robins, maybe they have found some wild berries in the trees. This Robin posed nicely on the top of a pine tree.

Thanks to all my visitors and for all the wonderful comments. Stop back to see any replies to your comments. I appreciate everyone who loves critters and has linked up their critter post.

Here is my linky:

Also visit:  I'd-Rather-B-Birdin. Thanks to the host Anni.

  2. WOW! I 't ever remember you showing us a racoon at your feeders. I would have imagines if the squirrel had not emptied the feeder, the racoon would have Eileen. Love all the bird images. Thanks for hosting, stay safe and have a wonderful weekend.

  3. It’s so funny the way I, who am always late, can be first to link up here ... it’s because I’m on the West Coast, so it’s only 9 here ,and just before my bedtime.)) Thank you so much for hosting and showing your wonderful yard birds! I won’t be doing any birding or anything outside for awhile...The wildfires started here in Oregon last Monday night and we are under an air quality advisory. It’s really smoky out, But we are safe at home and many are not that fortunate.

  15. I expect that your feeders will continue to attract new birds as the transient migrants move through and the winter residents arrive. For the first time that I can remember we had both White-breasted and Red-breasted Nuthatches visiting our feeders. As one left with a seed the other took its place. Great time of year!

    1. Thanks Phil! The raccoons can have rabies and they are not safe to have hanging around. Usually they would run right off, but lately one would be reluctant to leave. They can show their teeth and make hissing noises or growling noises. I try to make loud noises to spook them away! Hubby will chase them with a broom or stick. Have a great weekend!

  53. The raccoon looks healthy and happy. I got curious about the etymology of critter. Not much out there other than the word was supposedly coined in the mid-1800s. But I did learn more about the word raccoon. It's based on the Powhatan word for raccoon, and through the years, its spelling changed to the way we do today.:-) Cheers, Eileen!
