Saturday's Critters #363

Welcome to Saturday's Critters!

Hello and happy Saturday!

If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

1. The Red-breasted Nuthatch is one of my favorite yard birds. I only see them in my yard every few years. Below is the adult male Red-breasted Nuthatch.

2. The adult male Red-breasted Nuthatch has more of the reddish orange belly and sides. The female is paler underneath.

3. The Carolina Wren is a year round bird seen in my yard.

4.  The white-breasted Nuthatch is another one of my regular year round birds.

5. Below is a Carolina Chicakdee and you can see the back of a Tufted Titmouse.

6.  Below some of my yard birds:
Top row are a Red-breasted Nuthatch and White-breasted Nuthatch.
Second row is the Carolina Wren and the male Downy Woodpecker. Third row is the American Goldfinch and a Carolina Chickadee with a Tifted Titmouse.

 7.  Pine Siskins arrived on Nov 18th.  The Pine Siskins have a thin bill, streaks on the chest with a bit of yellow on their sides. I've been waiting for them to show up, they were being seen all over the state.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my yard birds,  bird watching is my simple pleasure.

Thanks to all my visitors and for all the wonderful comments. Stop back to see any replies to your comments. I appreciate everyone who loves critters and has linked up their critter post.

So many smiles. I love seeing the titmouse and chickadee sharing the feeder....it’s so neat when two species do that. Your yard birds are wonderful and I hope you two had a good (different) Thanksgiving. We are still at the coast in our tiny trailer . A little chilly for good birding (for me, probably not for the birds( but so beautiful for brisk beach walks. Like you we know we have much to be thankful for. Thank you for all you do ..as always.

We have those nuthatches too, here in Michigan. Several other birds are flocking around here that only show up occasionally. I haven't seen an explanation. Nice photos!

Hi Eileen! :) I love the photo of the upside down wren! Those siskins are pretty, I always thought they were house finches!

How lucky to get wrens at your feeders. The ones here are far too shy for that. They are so sweet; I can see why they are the subject of so many artists.

Red said...

Some years red breasted nuthatches are regular feeder visitors. Other years you see very few at the feeders.

Kenneth Cole Schneider said...

Lucky you! This year there has been a "pandemic" of northern finches, nuthatches and Blue Jays. Some Evening Grosbeaks made it into northern Florida, but I will be happy with just a few goldfinches or Red-breasted Nuthatches. A crossbill or Pine Siskin would be too much to hope for.

beautiful small birds, i LOVE the nuthatches too. i saw my first one this season when i was photographing my cardinal yesterday. i was able to get one picture, but only of his back!! that's a really nice image of the wren too, showing off the deep browns, i see them year round also. i do not see the pine skins!! have a great weekend, the sun just came out...and many thanks for hosting!!!

We too have White-breasted and Red-breasted Nuthatches at our backyard feeders every day. What a pleasure!

Minerva said...

I have not seen a red-breasted nuthatch. I'll have to look out for one. I do have the white variety, and saw them on my feeder today! As a matter of fact, all of your birds shown have been on my feeders today except the goldfinch. I think the they have left this area until spring. Great pictures!

NatureFootstep said...

the Red-breasted Nuthatch is probably the nicest of the nuthatches. It is really good-looking. The wren and Pine siskins are also very sweet.
Great shots. Take care!

The birds seem more prolific than ever this year. Lovely shots! I believe it when they say birds are the Pied Pipers leading us down interesting paths.

I see Nuthatches all year long altho the Red Breasted ones seem to be more numerous in the fall..I still have a hard time determining whether a Bird is a Pine Siskin or a Finch sometimes..I think they are mostly Finches..Looks like we have pretty much the same population..Enjoy your week.

Mucha suerte de ver tanta variedad de aves Eileen. Me gustan.
Buen domingo. Cuídate.

Hi Eileen! What great shots! I'm seeing those same birds. I went ahead and put my bird feeders up to see how it would go. Our outside kitty is a visitor at the feeders, but the birds are spotting him because he's white, and he's unable to climb the pole - I'm also not feeding on the ground, so I'm hopeful about being able to keep everyone safe - But I miss the ground-feeders so I may add a platform feeder. Again, we'll see.

I hope all is well on your side of the Potomac! Rain coming, stay warm and dry, and thank you for your blogging friendship!
