Saturday's Critters #360

Welcome to Saturday's Critters!

Hello and happy Saturday!

If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

1. Below a few feeder birds, two female Purple Finches and a Tufted Titmouse hanging on.

2.  The Purple Finches were here in my yard for a short time, I never was able to take a photo of the male Purple Finch. The females have heavily streak underparts, dull brown back and the white "eyebrow"  or supercillium which is seen below right above the eye.

3. Tater or Tate the Corgi was with us for just  a short  time.  Hubby and I have been talking about getting a rescue dog for some time. One day my son called and said 9 month old Tate needed to be  re-homed and did we want to take him.  Tate originally belonged to DIL's friend, they did not have the time for a dog.  We had Tate for 2 1/2 days before we decided he was way too energetic for us, he needed a family or other dogs he could herd. So Tate ended going back to the family we got him from, he was happy to be back with the kiddies and Maggie the Labrador.   So I am sharing photos of Tate, also known as Tater or Tatertot.  Bye-bye Tate, I wish him a happy life wherever he is.

4.  Tate would try to herd me around the house, barking and nipping at my ankles. I was afraid I would fall over Tate while I just trying to walk..Tate had a few walks on the fire road with us, we played ball and walked around the yard and house.

5.  Below are 3 Purple Finches, one looks to be begging. The third is around the back side of the feeder, only see the 3rd bird's beak is seen.

Thanks to all my visitors and for all the wonderful comments. Stop back to see any replies to your comments. I appreciate everyone who loves critters and has linked up their critter post.

  3. Eileen that is a pity Tate was not the dog for you but I agree who wants a dog nipping your ankles. He certainly is a looking looking dog and looks like butter would not melt in his mouth! Love all the birds. Thanks for hosting, stay safe and have a lovely weekend.

  8. Hi Eileen,
These are a nice series of photos.
Raising a young dog now won't be easy, but it's good that you've given it back to its family.
We don't start with one dog anymore, we've had two, that's enough.
Would you like to post my link, it will not work for me.
Have a great weekend and stay healthy.

    1. Hello Rain, Hubby and I have raised 6 dogs together in our 30 years being married. They were all big dogs, Labradors and Golden Retrievers. They were all treated like children, spoiled rotten. I guess we were used to having big dogs and Tater was a small pup. He was happy to go back and see his kiddies and their other dog, I think he will be happy. Thanks for the comment and visit. Enjoy your day!

Ah yes, Corgis - it tends to be forgotten that they are the Welsh equivalent of the the Scottish Border Collie - working dogs used to lots of activity, bright and needing strong training and interaction. Good luck to Tate... and to you if you decide to find a rescue for yourselves. YAM xx

  19. Beautiful dog, Eileen, however, the temperament of the dog one owns must be well suited to one's own ways, lifestyle and habits. I'm sure what occurred with Tate was best for all concerned and I'm sure he's happy where he is now. Perhaps a quieter, less energetic dog would give you (and the dog!) much more pleasure.

  25. It is perhaps an oddity that despite a lifelong involvement with wildlife I have had no inclination to have pets in my home. A friend of mine with a dog about whom she cares more than her daughter I am quite sure, has recently spent almost $12,000 on an ancient hound that has no quality of life left, yet she seems to want to make sure it keeps on breathing.

  27. Goodness, I'm glad Tate was just a short term visitor, though he is a cute little bundle of energy! Me, I think I've never been a dog person, and with allergies galore these days, no kitten would be ok because of the various litter products. Sigh. I do love seeing your birds! We don't have a fenced in yard so I don't want to have a dog that can't get outside and romp...has to always be on a leash or go to the dog park. We have some Purple finches here this week in case yours come up missing! lol Enjoy your weekend!

I hope you have a great week!

  45. You will find a dog more suitable for your household. Perhaps another Golden. We all establish lives with one breed and they become the dogs we relate to the best.
