Welcome to Saturday's Critters!
Hello and happy Saturday!
If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!
1. Below a few feeder birds, two female Purple Finches and a Tufted Titmouse hanging on.
2. The Purple Finches were here in my yard for a short time, I never was able to take a photo of the male Purple Finch. The females have heavily streak underparts, dull brown back and the white "eyebrow" or supercillium which is seen below right above the eye.
4. Tate would try to herd me around the house, barking and nipping at my ankles. I was afraid I would fall over Tate while I just trying to walk..Tate had a few walks on the fire road with us, we played ball and walked around the yard and house.

3. Tater or Tate the Corgi was with us for just a short time. Hubby and I have been talking about getting a rescue dog for some time. One day my son called and said 9 month old Tate needed to be re-homed and did we want to take him. Tate originally belonged to DIL's friend, they did not have the time for a dog. We had Tate for 2 1/2 days before we decided he was way too energetic for us, he needed a family or other dogs he could herd. So Tate ended going back to the family we got him from, he was happy to be back with the kiddies and Maggie the Labrador. So I am sharing photos of Tate, also known as Tater or Tatertot. Bye-bye Tate, I wish him a happy life wherever he is.

5. Below are 3 Purple Finches, one looks to be begging. The third is around the back side of the feeder, only see the 3rd bird's beak is seen.

Eileen that is a pity Tate was not the dog for you but I agree who wants a dog nipping your ankles. He certainly is a looking looking dog and looks like butter would not melt in his mouth! Love all the birds. Thanks for hosting, stay safe and have a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you Margaret!
DeleteTate is in a happy home now!
Have a happy day, happy weekend!
$360, I thought the magic one was 270!!! Love the way he looks at you, but energy galore is hard to cope with. He will be happy back there.
ReplyDeleteLOL, 360... 270 is the magic number.
DeleteThanks Jean! Have a happy day and a great new week!
Tate is a beautiful dog. I hope he gets a suitable home. I also hope that you will get a suitable rescue dog soon. Have a wonderful weekend and thank you for hosting.
ReplyDeleteThank you Nancy!
DeleteFor now Tate is in a happy home!
Have a happy day, happy weekend!
Tate looks a funny and joyful company.
ReplyDeleteI like the Tufted Titmouse too.
Enjoy a great and serene weekend!
Thank you for the visit and comment!
DeleteTate was a bundle of joy!
Have a happy day, happy weekend!
It's true that we need time and strength to own a dog. Me and my husband, we have a cat, he is very independent :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Monika!
DeleteHave a happy day, happy weekend!
Hi Eileen,
ReplyDeleteThese are a nice series of photos.
Raising a young dog now won't be easy, but it's good that you've given it back to its family.
We don't start with one dog anymore, we've had two, that's enough.
Would you like to post my link, it will not work for me.
Have a great weekend and stay healthy.
Thank you Irma!
DeleteTate was an energetic puppy, he is at a happy home now!
Have a happy day, happy weekend!
Hello Eileen,
ReplyDeleteTate was a very cute dog. It's not easy to have a rescue dog or a cat. I admire the work of people who try to help them.
Happy Weekend!
Thank you Marit!
DeleteHave a happy day, happy weekend!
Lindas fotos e adorei ver o TATE! beijos, lindo fim de semana, chica

Hi Eileen!! I hope the same for Tate... It´s a lovely dog...
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend
Thank you Ana!
DeleteHave a happy day, happy weekend!
Hi Eileen :)) I love Tatertot!!! :) I will take him lol...I say that for every dog. Three is enough right now! :) Lovely photos and I'm happy to hear he will be back in a happy home! :)
ReplyDeleteHello Rain, Hubby and I have raised 6 dogs together in our 30 years being married. They were all big dogs, Labradors and Golden Retrievers. They were all treated like children, spoiled rotten. I guess we were used to having big dogs and Tater was a small pup. He was happy to go back and see his kiddies and their other dog, I think he will be happy. Thanks for the comment and visit. Enjoy your day!

ReplyDeleteAh yes, Corgis - it tends to be forgotten that they are the Welsh equivalent of the the Scottish Border Collie - working dogs used to lots of activity, bright and needing strong training and interaction. Good luck to Tate... and to you if you decide to find a rescue for yourselves. YAM xx
Thanks Yam! I was just telling my hubby I would not be surprised to see my DIL adopting Tate. He could end up as our grand-dog. We will not be rushing into getting another dog, just yet. Take care, enjoy your weekend!
DeleteTate is a cute dog. Hopefully it will work out for him.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting and have a great weekend!
Thank you Bill!
DeleteHave a happy day, happy weekend!
...like the Tufted Titmouse we all need to hang on, it's going to be a bumpy ride. Thanks Eileen for hosting.
ReplyDeleteThank you Tom!
DeleteBumpy ride indeed!
Have a happy day, happy weekend!
lol, love the finches and the Titmouse. They seem to play "hard to catch" with you :) So quick. Tate seem to be a good dog. And easy to adapt to new situations. I think he will do great.
ReplyDeleteTake care.
Thank you Monica!
DeleteHave a happy day, happy weekend!
Tate is adorable, they are high energy dogs, especailly when puppies. that is the reason we rescue dogs over the age of 5, and also ask for low energy dogs.. love the upside down titmouse, which i could do chin ups
ReplyDeleteThank you Sandra!
DeleteTate is an energetic puppy and needs a family with children and maybe other pets.
He is in a happy home now.
Have a happy day, happy weekend!
Hello Eileen. You have beautiful birds in your yard. Tate is cute. I hope that you will get a suitable rescue dog.
ReplyDeleteThank you for hosting. Take care.
Thank you Anu!
DeleteHave a happy day, happy weekend!
Beautiful dog, Eileen, however, the temperament of the dog one owns must be well suited to one's own ways, lifestyle and habits. I'm sure what occurred with Tate was best for all concerned and I'm sure he's happy where he is now. Perhaps a quieter, less energetic dog would give you (and the dog!) much more pleasure.
ReplyDeleteThank you Nick!
DeleteSo true, we should have research the Corgi instead of rushing to take this puppy.
He is in a happy home with other pets and children.
Have a happy day, happy weekend!

Hello Eileen
ReplyDeleteI've never seen a Tufted Titmouse, but I love your bird- and dog-photos, and I also hope that has a good and happy life!
Hugs and happy weekend

DeleteHave a happy day, happy weekend!
Tate looks so cute-- too bad his energy isn't compatible with your lifestyle. I miss seeing the Purple Finches, as we have not traveled north for more than a year now. The Tufted Titmouse ranges very nearby, but I still have not seen one locally.
ReplyDeleteThank you Ken!
DeleteYes, puppies have way too much energy and need a lot of training.
Have a happy day, happy weekend!
It is perhaps an oddity that despite a lifelong involvement with wildlife I have had no inclination to have pets in my home. A friend of mine with a dog about whom she cares more than her daughter I am quite sure, has recently spent almost $12,000 on an ancient hound that has no quality of life left, yet she seems to want to make sure it keeps on breathing.
ReplyDeleteThank you David!
DeleteHave a happy day, happy weekend!
that is a great way to be sure a dog, is a good fit for you. it's important to be sure for both you and the dog!! i know you are a dog lover, i hope you find one that is perfect for you and your husband!! but, what a cutie!!
ReplyDeletei don't see purple finches at my feeders, they are beautiful birds!!!
Thank you Debbie!
DeleteYes, i think we realized a puppy is way too much for us and we are active.
Have a happy day, happy weekend!
Goodness, I'm glad Tate was just a short term visitor, though he is a cute little bundle of energy! Me, I think I've never been a dog person, and with allergies galore these days, no kitten would be ok because of the various litter products. Sigh. I do love seeing your birds! Have a good weekend, Eileen!
ReplyDeleteThank you Barbara!
DeleteYes Tate was an energetic puppy. More then we realized.
Have a happy day, happy weekend!
Tate was a cutie. I can understand why you had to send him back though. I’ve never seen purple finches. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThank you Marie!
DeleteI am just glad Tate is in a happy home for now.
Have a happy day, happy weekend!
Really Love That First Photo - And Tater Appears To Be Rather Precious - I Sincerely That You For Watching Him For That Short Period Of Time - It Was Nice To Know That He Was Loved And Well Looked After For A Few Short Days Of His Life - Good On The Shadow People
ReplyDeleteCheers
Thanks for the comment.
DeleteI think Tater is happy with his home now, he has children and other pets to play with.
He is a very energetic dog.
Enjoy your weekend!
Oh, I need to refill the bird feeder.
ReplyDeleteTate looks cute and I reckon you made the right decision for his (and your!) well-being.
Thank you Iris!
DeleteHave a happy day, happy weekend!
Poor Tate, too lively for his own good it seems. I hope he finds a really happy home to expel all of that energy. Your Purple Finches are very good looking Eileen. Not so colourful as the male I know, but hey, being ladies they are a little more refined in those sombre colours. Hope you have a fine weekend. And thanks for the linkie today.
ReplyDeleteThank you Phil!
DeleteTate is in a happy home now, he has children and other pets to keep him occupied.
Have a happy day, happy weekend!
Too bad Tate didn't work out for you. I hope he finds a good forever home!
ReplyDeleteThank you Martha!
DeleteHave a happy day, happy weekend!
Beautiful bird pictures. I like how they can hang upside down without
ReplyDeleteTate looks very high energy. So cute.
Thank you for the visit and comment!
DeleteHave a happy day, happy weekend!
That dog is adorable! We have to make the right choice for animals though. We don't have a fenced in yard so I don't want to have a dog that can't get outside and romp...has to always be on a leash or go to the dog park. We have some Purple finches here this week in case yours come up missing! lol Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteThank you Diane!
DeleteTater is a cutie, he looks a lot like my grand-dog Winnie the Corgi.
He has a happy home now with children and other pets.
Have a happy day, happy weekend!
Send some of your purple finches this way. I haven't seen one in my yard for years.
ReplyDeleteThank you Red!

ReplyDeleteHave a happy day, happy weekend!
I don't know about you, Eileen, but I find eating while hanging upside down difficult. :-)
ReplyDeleteLOL, no I could not eat upside down.
DeleteThank you for the visit and comment.
Enjoy your day!
Cute dog! Sorry it didn't work out for you. Those are definitely high energy dogs, I think. Love the first picture of the finches and the tufted-titmouse. Would love to see a picture of the male purple finch. Pretty sure all I ever get are the boring old house finches (I do love my backyard birds). Hope you are having a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jean!
DeleteTater is with a family now, they have children and other dogs will keep Tater busy.
Happy weekend to you!
I'm so sorry Tate did not work out for you. We are in a similar boat as Murphy is over 10 now and we are keeping our eye out for a rescue. I mean we are used to two dogs so would like another. Finches are rare at my feeders but I love to see them.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jocelyn!
DeleteIf we ever get another dog, it will be an older calmer dog. Hopefully one that is somewhat trained too.
Take care, enjoy your weekend!
Lovely pictures of the dog and the birds :-)) Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteThank you Ranten!
DeleteHave a happy weekend!
Rescue dogs are the best... but Goldie they're not. Have patience, and the right one will come along[a senior dog perhaps?]
ReplyDeleteThanks Anni!
DeleteGoldie Girl was the best!
Have a great weekend!
Your Corgi pup was a cutie for sure!! You'll get the right one when it's time, Eileen...:)jp
ReplyDeleteThanks JP!
DeleteHave a great weekend!
Ol' Tater what a cutie. I could see he would be way too energetic. Give me a quiet dog at my age
ReplyDeleteMB
Thank you MB!
DeleteHave a great day!
Tatertot is so cute! My son has always wanted a Corgi. My best friend from Jr. High has a dog named Tatertot (last name Tuttle).
ReplyDeleteBeautiful birds! A squirrel ate a big hole in my bird feeder so I had to buy another one. The new one is squirrel proof.
I hope you have a great week!
Thank you Vicki!
DeleteHave a happy day!
Very nice. I love Tate !
ReplyDeleteThank you for the comment.
DeleteHave a happy day!
You will find a dog more suitable for your household. Perhaps another Golden. We all establish lives with one breed and they become the dogs we relate to the best.
ReplyDeleteSaw my first Juncos this morning so winter is coming even though it is very warm here.
Thank you RedPat!
DeleteThe Golden Ret are the best dogs.
Have a happy day!
He sure is cute. I'm sure the right dog is out there for you!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Karen!
DeleteHave a happy day!
Running after our little grands makes me know I can't handle a busy little dog for sure. He's a cutie, though!
ReplyDeleteThank you Ellen!
DeleteEnjoy your day!
So sorry Tate didn't work out. He sure is a cutie pie.
ReplyDeleteThank you Dee!
DeleteTate is a cutie!
Have a happy day!
It's impressive to see a family photo of the finches ... they are adorable and clever fowl. I also support my animal lover bloggers to participate. Happy Sunday greetings, Eileen.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the comment!
DeleteHave a great day!
Thanks for hosting. I don't think I could handle a high energy dog at this time in my life.
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda!
DeleteEnjoy your day!
This week, I want to send my thanks to you for sharing your post with us birders!
ReplyDeleteThank you for hosting, Anni!
DeleteEnjoy your day!
A great blog, I love the Corgis, lovely faces. Also the Purple Finches, wonderful.
ReplyDeleteThank so much Bob!
DeleteThe Corgi is a cute dog.
Have a great day!
It was nice to see the finches and to hear more about Tater. You tried to give him a good home but not every animal is suitable for us. I'm sure he will find a good forever home. I don't know anything about Corgis except that they are the Queen's favourite type of dog and I understand she owns several.
ReplyDeleteThank you Penny!
DeleteI am happy that Tater is in a happy home for now.
Have a great day!
Hello Eileen,
ReplyDeleteNice pictures of these birds. Funny with that third bird under that basket.
Funny shots of that dog, so cute!!
Greetings, Marco
Thank you Marco
DeleteHave a great day!
Bien por el intento con Tate. Pero mejor uno más tranquilo. Preciosos los pájaros.
ReplyDeleteBuen domingo Eileen. Cuidaros.
Un abrazo.
Thank you Laura!
DeleteEnjoy your day and week ahead!
Tater is so cute! I'm sure he will find a good home. A family with kids would be great for him.

Love the finches and titmouse!
ReplyDeleteWe've been fortunate this year and have had an influx of both at the feeders. Color and excitement!
Have a wonderful new week!
Thank you Wally!
DeleteHave a happy day!
Happy Sunday too! Your bird photos are incredible, the one just about to fall but still hanging on, too funny. I know Tater will be just fine too, you made the right choice and who knows what other pup might be in store for you! This weekend was lovely for us, and I had it off, but from the weather reports something of that white stuff is brewing. But also Oh Happy day for us with the Biden and Harris win! Thank goodness!
ReplyDeleteThank you Karen!
DeleteYes, I happy about the election results. We have our country and democracy back
Have a happy day!
