Saturday's Critters #360

Welcome to Saturday's Critters!

Hello and happy Saturday!

If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

1. Below a few feeder birds, two female Purple Finches and a Tufted Titmouse hanging on.

2.  The Purple Finches were here in my yard for a short time, I never was able to take a photo of the male Purple Finch. The females have heavily streak underparts, dull brown back and the white "eyebrow"  or supercillium which is seen below right above the eye.

3. Tater or Tate the Corgi was with us for just  a short  time.  Hubby and I have been talking about getting a rescue dog for some time. One day my son called and said 9 month old Tate needed to be  re-homed and did we want to take him.  Tate originally belonged to DIL's friend, they did not have the time for a dog.  We had Tate for 2 1/2 days before we decided he was way too energetic for us, he needed a family or other dogs he could herd. So Tate ended going back to the family we got him from, he was happy to be back with the kiddies and Maggie the Labrador.   So I am sharing photos of Tate, also known as Tater or Tatertot.  Bye-bye Tate, I wish him a happy life wherever he is.

4.  Tate would try to herd me around the house, barking and nipping at my ankles. I was afraid I would fall over Tate while I just trying to walk..Tate had a few walks on the fire road with us, we played ball and walked around the yard and house.

5.  Below are 3 Purple Finches, one looks to be begging. The third is around the back side of the feeder, only see the 3rd bird's beak is seen.

Thanks to all my visitors and for all the wonderful comments. Stop back to see any replies to your comments. I appreciate everyone who loves critters and has linked up their critter post.

Thanks for the post.

Eileen that is a pity Tate was not the dog for you but I agree who wants a dog nipping your ankles. He certainly is a looking looking dog and looks like butter would not melt in his mouth! Love all the birds. Thanks for hosting, stay safe and have a lovely weekend.

$360, I thought the magic one was 270!!! Love the way he looks at you, but energy galore is hard to cope with. He will be happy back there.

Tate is a beautiful dog. I hope he gets a suitable home. I also hope that you will get a suitable rescue dog soon. Have a wonderful weekend and thank you for hosting.

Tate looks a funny and joyful company.
I like the Tufted Titmouse too.
Enjoy a great and serene weekend!

It's true that we need time and strength to own a dog. Me and my husband, we have a cat, he is very independent :)

Hi Eileen,
These are a nice series of photos.
Raising a young dog now won't be easy, but it's good that you've given it back to its family.
We don't start with one dog anymore, we've had two, that's enough.
Would you like to post my link, it will not work for me.
Have a great weekend and stay healthy.

Hello Eileen,
Tate was a very cute dog. It's not easy to have a rescue dog or a cat. I admire the work of people who try to help them.
Happy Weekend!

Ah yes, Corgis - it tends to be forgotten that they are the Welsh equivalent of the the Scottish Border Collie - working dogs used to lots of activity, bright and needing strong training and interaction. Good luck to Tate... and to you if you decide to find a rescue for yourselves. YAM xx

Tate is a cute dog. Hopefully it will work out for him.
Thanks for hosting and have a great weekend!

...like the Tufted Titmouse we all need to hang on, it's going to be a bumpy ride. Thanks Eileen for hosting.

NatureFootstep said...

lol, love the finches and the Titmouse. They seem to play "hard to catch" with you :) So quick. Tate seem to be a good dog. And easy to adapt to new situations. I think he will do great.
Take care.

MadSnapper said...

Tate is adorable, they are high energy dogs, especailly when puppies. that is the reason we rescue dogs over the age of 5, and also ask for low energy dogs.. love the upside down titmouse, which i could do chin ups

Anu said...

Hello Eileen. You have beautiful birds in your yard. Tate is cute. I hope that you will get a suitable rescue dog.
Thank you for hosting. Take care.

Hello Rain, Hubby and I have raised 6 dogs together in our 30 years being married. They were all big dogs, Labradors and Golden Retrievers. They were all treated like children, spoiled rotten. I guess we were used to having big dogs and Tater was a small pup. He was happy to go back and see his kiddies and their other dog, I think he will be happy. Thanks for the comment and visit. Enjoy your day!

Beautiful dog, Eileen, however, the temperament of the dog one owns must be well suited to one's own ways, lifestyle and habits. I'm sure what occurred with Tate was best for all concerned and I'm sure he's happy where he is now. Perhaps a quieter, less energetic dog would give you (and the dog!) much more pleasure.

Thanks Yam! I was just telling my hubby I would not be surprised to see my DIL adopting Tate. He could end up as our grand-dog. We will not be rushing into getting another dog, just yet. Take care, enjoy your weekend!

Tate looks so cute-- too bad his energy isn't compatible with your lifestyle. I miss seeing the Purple Finches, as we have not traveled north for more than a year now. The Tufted Titmouse ranges very nearby, but I still have not seen one locally.

It is perhaps an oddity that despite a lifelong involvement with wildlife I have had no inclination to have pets in my home. A friend of mine with a dog about whom she cares more than her daughter I am quite sure, has recently spent almost $12,000 on an ancient hound that has no quality of life left, yet she seems to want to make sure it keeps on breathing.

Debbie said...

that is a great way to be sure a dog, is a good fit for you. it's important to be sure for both you and the dog!! i know you are a dog lover, i hope you find one that is perfect for you and your husband!! but, what a cutie!!

i don't see purple finches at my feeders, they are beautiful birds!!!

Barbara Rogers said...

Goodness, I'm glad Tate was just a short term visitor, though he is a cute little bundle of energy! Me, I think I've never been a dog person, and with allergies galore these days, no kitten would be ok because of the various litter products. Sigh. I do love seeing your birds! Have a good weekend, Eileen!

Marie Smith said...

Tate was a cutie. I can understand why you had to send him back though. I’ve never seen purple finches. Thank you for sharing.

Really Love That First Photo - And Tater Appears To Be Rather Precious - I Sincerely That You For Watching Him For That Short Period Of Time - It Was Nice To Know That He Was Loved And Well Looked After For A Few Short Days Of His Life - Good On The Shadow People

Oh, I need to refill the bird feeder.
Tate looks cute and I reckon you made the right decision for his (and your!) well-being.

Phil Slade said...

Poor Tate, too lively for his own good it seems. I hope he finds a really happy home to expel all of that energy. Your Purple Finches are very good looking Eileen. Not so colourful as the male I know, but hey, being ladies they are a little more refined in those sombre colours. Hope you have a fine weekend. And thanks for the linkie today.

Martha said...

Too bad Tate didn't work out for you. I hope he finds a good forever home!

Beautiful bird pictures. I like how they can hang upside down without
Tate looks very high energy. So cute.

That dog is adorable! We have to make the right choice for animals though. We don't have a fenced in yard so I don't want to have a dog that can't get outside and romp...has to always be on a leash or go to the dog park. We have some Purple finches here this week in case yours come up missing! lol Enjoy your weekend!

Cute dog! Sorry it didn't work out for you. Those are definitely high energy dogs, I think. Love the first picture of the finches and the tufted-titmouse. Would love to see a picture of the male purple finch. Pretty sure all I ever get are the boring old house finches (I do love my backyard birds). Hope you are having a great weekend!

I'm so sorry Tate did not work out for you. We are in a similar boat as Murphy is over 10 now and we are keeping our eye out for a rescue. I mean we are used to two dogs so would like another. Finches are rare at my feeders but I love to see them.

eileeninmd said...

Thank you, Jean!
Tater is with a family now, they have children and other dogs will keep Tater busy.
Happy weekend to you!

eileeninmd said...

Thank you Jocelyn!
If we ever get another dog, it will be an older calmer dog. Hopefully one that is somewhat trained too.
Take care, enjoy your weekend!

You will find a dog more suitable for your household. Perhaps another Golden. We all establish lives with one breed and they become the dogs we relate to the best.
Saw my first Juncos this morning so winter is coming even though it is very warm here.

Running after our little grands makes me know I can't handle a busy little dog for sure. He's a cutie, though!

It's impressive to see a family photo of the finches ... they are adorable and clever fowl. I also support my animal lover bloggers to participate. Happy Sunday greetings, Eileen.

A great blog, I love the Corgis, lovely faces. Also the Purple Finches, wonderful.

It was nice to see the finches and to hear more about Tater. You tried to give him a good home but not every animal is suitable for us. I'm sure he will find a good forever home. I don't know anything about Corgis except that they are the Queen's favourite type of dog and I understand she owns several.

Happy Sunday too! Your bird photos are incredible, the one just about to fall but still hanging on, too funny. I know Tater will be just fine too, you made the right choice and who knows what other pup might be in store for you! This weekend was lovely for us, and I had it off, but from the weather reports something of that white stuff is brewing. But also Oh Happy day for us with the Biden and Harris win! Thank goodness!
