Welcome to Saturday's Critters!
Hello and happy Saturday!
1. Looking out my dining room window, I found a few male Cardinals, can you find the lone Goldfinch? On the bottom of the mosaic is the female Red-bellied Woodpecker with a Starling, in the bottom middle are various birds and bottom right is the Hairy Woodpecker.
2. Looking out my front window from my exercise bike, there were five Blue Jays motivating me to go one more mile..
3. During one of our recent snow days, I saw lots of Cardinals, Dark-eyed Junco, White-throated Sparrows and the Starlings.
4. In the back part of our yard, I have been seeing the Pileated Woodpecker at our wood pile.
5. The Cardinals do look so bright and pretty with a snowy background. Far bottom left is a female Cardinal and far right is the Goldfinch.
As I type this post it is so cold out, a mere 14° early in the morning.
We had a snowy February, I will be happy to see winter come to an end. Take care, stay safe and warm. See you next Saturday!
Thanks to all my visitors and for your comments. Stop back to see any replies to your comments. I appreciate everyone who loves critters and has linked up their critter post.

Yes, I think I can see the lone Goldfinch. It is on the right side, right? The male Cardinals are very striking clear against the grey surrounding. Yesterday's rain helped lowered the temperature to around 25 deg. C. Have a beautiful weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you Nancy!
DeleteI am looking forward to warmer days.
Take care, have a happy weekend!
Wow Eileen, I can't imagine looking out my window and seeing all the gorgeous birds set against the wintery wonderland. Just a lovely post.

Nice variety of birds and, yes, I see the goldfinch to the right. :) The red on the Cardinals and the Pileated Woodpecker really makes them stand out beautifully. Nice of the blue jays to improve your exercise. :)

Hi Eileen,
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice series of photos, there is still snow with you, I see.
Everything is gone here now, no more snow and ice to be seen here in the Netherlands.
I really love seeing the red cardinals.
Would you like to post my link, I am unable to do it.
I wish you a nice weekend.
Take care and stay healthy.
Thank you Irma!
DeleteYes, our neighborhood still has snow around, it is melting slowly.
Take care, have a happy weekend!
Love the birght red cardinals. We have small flocks of 3-5 males during the winter but I think we are down to our resident population, as they started singing like crazy before sunrise the past week or so. I miss having a feeder in the yard, but they are a no-go here around the lake because of the ducks and pigeons (and rats). I have several stored in the garage but hate to part with them.
ReplyDeleteThank you Ken!
DeleteI can understand why you do not put up the bird feeders. It is great you can still see lots of birds in your neighborhood. Take care, have a happy weekend!
The cardinals really pop out with the snow in the background. Beautiful series of photos! Have a wnderful day and weekend. Thanks for hosting.

How glad I am to find you here again, dearest Eileen!
ReplyDeleteAfter so much time, I can write a comment to an amzing post of yours, those posts I’ve never forgotten!
I’ve been away from the web since the reseraches and the drafting of the history essay I wrote for an Italian publisher about the Habsburgs took up all the time I had.
But I’ve finally come back.
Sending blessings on your weekend

I agree the Cardinal is the perfect bird for a snowy day...all your feeders are busy and that is a great thing. One of my feeders has to be replaced it has been worn out by the birds...the pine siskins were so many it was overloaded...I know I won't find another one like this one, but I will try. Have a good week coming up.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sondra!

Debe de ser muy penoso para las aves, vivir en un clima bastante frío y cubierto de nieve.
ReplyDeleteTambién tengo en mi casa una bicicleta estática en las que me doy mis buenos paseos, sin moverme del sitio.
