Saturday's Critters # 381

   Welcome to Saturday's Critters!

Hello and happy Saturday!

Happy Easter everyone!!
🐤 🐇

If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

I have some back yard birds to share, seen on different days around the end of March.

1. I have been seeing the Pileated Woodpecker at our wood pile. If the Pileated Woodpeckers are not at the wood pile I hear and see them in the forest next to our house.  This shot looks like a female and was taken from my dining room window.

2. Below a Downy Woodpecker with a Pine Warbler, the Woodpecker again with a Cardinal and a backside of the Cardinal with a Red-breasted Nuthatch.

3. The Pine Warbler is a summer bird, they breed in the forest next to our home.

4. I am still seeing the Red-breasted Nuthatch, at least 3 two males and a female come daily as of March 20th.

5. March 20th I was still seeing a few Pine Siskins at my feeders.

6. A bad bad bird, sitting on our swing. Just kidding, I know they need to eat to survive.

7. A Tufted Titmouse is one of my regular yard birds, seen year round.

8. From one of our fire road walks, I believe this a Hermit Thrush. I see a reddish tail.  While walking the fire road, I could hear more Pine Warblers, I can hear the Eastern Phoebe and I was sure I heard a Northern Parula.

9.  Previous years we were seeing 6-8 Great Blue Heron nests in our neighborhood, then last year something happened. They all left, I am not sure why. This year we are seeing a few herons returning to the trees that held a nest. I am hoping they are back and things are normal.  This photo below was taken from my driveway on March 11th, I am not sure if this is when they returned previous years..

I hope you enjoyed my birds as much as I do, my simple pleasure is bird watching.

Thanks to all my visitors and for your comments. Stop back to see any replies to your comments. I appreciate everyone who loves critters and has linked up their critter post.

  6. I am glad the Heron are back Eileen and hope they nest so we might be able to see young ones later. Love all the birds and I assume when you say some of your birds are STILL here, you mean you thought they would be away at this time to breed? Happy Easter and thanks for hosting.

  17. Great shot of the Pileated Woodpecker and through the window! The Pine Warblers are beautiful visitors. We had none this past fall and winter despite seeing them reliably in past years. Our local rookery has had no nesting night-herons for the first time since I "discovered" it about 13 years ago. Just one Green Heron. So sad that it has not survived the disturbances caused by hurricanes and the subsequent removal of their nesting trees which extended over the canal. I hope your herons make a comeback.

It is sad to see a rookery not "survive". I am not sure what happened to our herons, could have been a storm, or the weather or construction work on a neighbor's house. I do love my Pileated Woodpeckers and the Pine Warblers. Happy Easter, have a great weekend!

  31. Hello Eileen,:=) What a varied and fine selection of birds at your feeders. The Tufted Titmouse and Pine Warbler are really lovely, and I always enjoy seeing the Pileated Woodpecker which you are so fortunate to see so often. The LBJ Little Brown Job you describe as a Hermit Thrush, and I'm sure you are right, almost looks like the back of our Robin Redbreast.Superb shot of the Sparrow Hawk. There was one perched on my Balcony this morning but he saw the movement I made to get my camera, and flew away. I was sorry not to get a photo, but at the same time glad he went away.:=) Have a Happy Easter.:=)
