Welcome to Saturday's Critters!
Hello and happy Saturday!
If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!
Can you believe, it is the first Saturday of June. Time is flying by, I am hoping to see some birds flying into or around my yard. These are some birds I have seen recently during our local walks.
Click on photos for best viewing!
1. The end of April, I watched the Ruby-throated Hummingbirds coming and going to the feeder.
2. May 3rd, may have been my last sighting of the Red-breasted Nuthatch for the year.
3. May 10th , I watched a female Black-throated Blue Warbler out my front window. This view is from my exercise bike, I can watch various birds hopping around the rhododendrons and front yard.
It is not the best photo taken out the window, these warblers move quickly. The female has a white arc under the eye and a little white wing patch.
4. May 16th, we took a walk on the local NCR bike trail. We saw a couple of Worm-eating Warblers chasing each other along the trail.
5. I have been seeing bunnies in the back and front yard. I think the baby bunnies have grown quickly, but these two maybe the parents.
6. The Tufted Titmouse is a year round visitor to my yard.
I hope you enjoyed my yard and neighborhood birds. Other birds I heard nearby but I was not able to take photos yet are: Ovenbird, Wood Thrush, unknown Thrush, Gray Catbird and the male Black-throated Blue Warbler, Indigo Bunting and the Scarlet Tanager.
I am also linking up to Anni's blog party found here I'd Rather B Birding Anni always has some beautiful birds to be seen on her blog, check it out!
Thanks to all my visitors and for your comments. Stop back to see any replies to your comments. I appreciate everyone who loves critters and has linked up their critter post.
Here is my linky:

Always a joy to see the pretty birds and bunnies. I have the common sparrows visiting my garden and another type of bird that is black with red eyes which I do not know its name. They have been feeding on my figs and looking for worms and insects in my garden. Have a beautiful weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you Nancy! It is good to have the birds around eating the insects.

We love hummingbirds! We saw 9 species on our trip to Arizona, but now we are back in our own backyard, which has far fewer species than yours. We have no hummingbirds this year, so far.

DeleteWe have a variety of critters eating our plants, like the Groundhog, Rabbits and the deer.
Have a happy weekend!
Wonderful photos, Eileen. The Cliff Swallows found a great nesting area under the dam bridge. It's amazing where birds make their homes. Have a great weekend and thanks for hosting.

Great post!
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting.
DeleteHave a great weekend!
May delivered a great variety for you, Eileen. I envy you the relative ease with which you see Worm-eating Warbler. I have only ever seen it once in North America, in south Texas in early May, and a couple of times in Costa Rica. It is quite drab as warblers go, but very attractive nevertheless. Enjoy the weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you David!
DeleteWe have been seeing some great warblers right in our neighborhood. Some are breeders here for the summer.
Have a happy weekend!
Gorgeous collection of sweet critters. Have a great weekend Eileen! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Martha!

It's good to see that your hummers are back Eileen. I'l bet that is a sure sign that summer is upon you? Thanks for sharing your walks and pictures today. You had some list there today!
ReplyDeleteAnd of course allowing us all to link up today. Enjoy your Sunday.
Thank you Phil!
DeleteYes, I am happy to see my hummer return.
Have a happy weekend!
Hi Eileen, Some great birds in your post today, the Blackburnian is a real treat. We are now in a rainy pattern so Im not getting out much the last 4 days...so good to see your trips virtually...Hope you have a good Weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sondra!
DeleteA few days later I saw a Prothonotary Warbler in the same area.
Have a happy weekend!
Hi Eileen, Here's to a great weekend with lots of sighings! I hope you'll be able to keep cool -- it's supposed to be hot, at least here in MIchigan!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeanie!
DeleteI hope your weekend is lovely. It is hot here too.
Have a happy day!
I so enjoy your enthusiasm about the birds. It is infectious. I have caught it too.
ReplyDeleteThank you Marie!
DeleteYes, I am addicted to the birds. LOL!
Have a happy weekend!
I haven't seen the nests, but the Lake Tomahawk swifts are active swooping to catch bugs along the water...so fast!. As always I love seeing all your critters! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThank you Barbara!
DeleteIt is neat seeing the birds swooping low on the water catching the bugs.
Have a happy weekend!
Beautiful critters, as always, Eileen. I love those hummingbirds!
ReplyDeleteThank you Nick!
DeleteHave a happy weekend!
PS: Thank you for hosting, Eileen!
ReplyDeleteThanks again, have a great new week!
DeleteI always enjoy your Fire Road Findings! I thought of you while I was in the pool this week doing my excercise. a common black bird, with red under the beak, sat down about 10 feet from my face on the leaf of the banana tree. he totaly ignored me and sat staring down at the bush, about 20 seconds later he dived on the ground and came up with a 3 inch lizard, he flew/hopped about 10 feet and proceeded to thump it about until it was dead and flew off with it.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sandra!
DeleteWow, that was a cool sighting to see the birds swooped down for the lizard.
Have a happy weekend!
you (and i) are so lucky to see so many beautiful birds. you are much better at identifying them!! my hummingbird feeders are out, but i have yet to see one. i keep changing the food, waiting and hoping!!
ReplyDeletei have never seen a blackburnian warbler, i wonder if that is a bird you see often. it's a beautiful bird!!
have a great weekend, it's going to be a hot one. many thanks for hosting!!
Thank you Debbie!
DeleteThe Blackburnian Warbler was a first time sighting for my neighborhood. Your hummers may still be there, maybe at your flowers more than the feeder. Have a happy weekend!
Hi Eileen, happy saterday. Beautiful photos. The nuthatch I saw in Germany. Have a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you Caroline!
DeleteHave a happy weekend!
Hi Eileen, A good Saturday morning to you! I just spent several minutes enjoying this latest edition of Saturday’s Critters. You won’t be surprised to know my favorite is the photo of the hummer at your feeder. Great shot! I’m always impressed with the variety of birds you see in your yard. And other critters too! :-) Now that the pandemic is fading I wonder if you and hubby have been over to the Family Farm Restaurant? Ever since you told us about that place I’ve been fascinated with their menu. Their selection of family style meals is super. I see, on their website, that they are hiring. If I lived out there I might consider applying! :-) Thanks, as always, for sharing and hosting Saturday’s Critters. Hope you and hubby have a fine weekend and a happy week ahead. John
ReplyDeleteThank you John! Hubby and I have been to the restaurant recently, the chicken dinners and their crab cakes are delicious. It is nice it is only like a ten minute drive from our home. I love my hummers! I appreciate your visit and comment. Have a happy weekend!
DeleteThanks Eileen! I just got my new post linked up. Thank you for hosting Saturday's Critters!
DeleteThanks again! It is always nice to see a new post from you!
DeleteLovely birds!
ReplyDeleteWe are enjoying the Hummingbirds here too!
Have a blessed day!
Thank you Lea!
DeleteI do love seeing the hummers here.
Have a happy weekend!
Birds are interesting to watch and listen to but they don't make it easy for the photographer.
ReplyDeleteThank you Red!
DeleteNo, photographing the birds is not easy, I wish they sat still for a bit longer.
Have a happy weekend!
What beautiful birds and how clever you are to recognize so many songs and calls too. I am hopeless at that. But our Phoebes have made another nest on the house just a foot from the first nest that they just fledged 3 from...so they must like it here. At least I think it is the same pair. I wonder is it because we have so many mosquitoes this year...terrible for us humans.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jocelyn. It is good to have the birds there eating the mosquitoes. The birds here are eating some the cicadas that are here now. They have a feast to eat. I would love to have a Phoebe nesting in my yard. Right now, I have a Catbird banging on the front windows, it is a crazy bird. Take care, have a great weekend.
DeleteYou have such a huge variety of birds, Eileen! My latest project is to try to get a pic of one of the Chimney Swifts that fly around our place each day. They are almost impossible to get a shot of since they change direction so quickly. Thanks for hosting us each week.
ReplyDeleteThank you RedPat! It is a challenge to capture those fast moving birds.
DeleteTake care, enjoy your weekend!
Aren't they lush, the gorgeous Ruby-throated Hummingbirds and Cliff Swallows are my favourite Eileen.
ReplyDeleteThank you Bob! I really loved your duck photos.
DeleteTake care, have a great weekend.
Happy Saturday, it's great to be posting on time for my critter post and having this weekend off! I saw the cutest hummingbird swing that they say if you put it by one of their feeders they will swing on it. I'm hoping they're right. Great critter post as usual and your photos are always a delight and inspiring for me. Take care, enjoy your weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you Karen! It is always good to have a weekend off.
DeleteThe Hummer swing sounds interesting. Take care, enjoy your weekend!
It's fun to see what you are seeing now and compare it to FL. Very different! But you would think we would be seeing hummers but I haven't seen one yet. Love your photos this week. You've been busy!
ReplyDeleteThanks Diane!
DeleteI think I had an easier time in Florida finding the birds, they get lost in the trees here.
Happy Sunday, have a great new week!
Wow! What an awesome blog. I love all your outstanding photos. I sure wish I could take pictures of birds, but they are too fast to capture with my little camera.
ReplyDeleteHello Brenda,
DeleteThanks so much for the nice comment. The birds are quick, it is hard to get a perfect shot.
Happy Sunday, have a great new week!
Those tufted titmice have such sweet faces.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dee!

I don't think I have any warbler photos. Thanks for sharing yours.
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda! The Warblers are usually found high in the trees, hiding behind the leaves.
DeleteHappy Sunday, have a great new week!
Your knowledge of birds astounds me. I enjoy seeing them and listening to them but cannot be bothered to learn about them
ReplyDeleteThank you Diane! I try to learn the birds and their sounds.

Por mi patio lo que acude son gorriones. Vienen a recoger las migas de pan, que deposito allí a propósito.
ReplyDeleteMe gustán los colibrí, que has fotografiado bastante bien.
Besos
Thank you for the comment. It is nice you can feed the sparrows.
DeleteTake care, enjoy your day and new week ahead.
The full lockdown here lets me enjoy the sounds of birds and somehow less noise and pollution. But perhaps it could become less from tomorrow, as some relaxations were announced, would interrupt the connection with nature and me. I love your photos of birds and the nice collage on the dam and other little birds. Hope you have a good week
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeevan!
DeleteTake care, have a happy new week!
I've often said how I envy your yard birds while you exercise. Lucky, lucky you. Great birds all the way around Eileen. A real treasure.
ReplyDeleteThanks for lending the link to this post for us all at IRBB this weekend.
Thank you Anni!
DeleteI do feel lucky, seeing the birds right outside my windows.
Take care, have a happy new week!
You see so many wonderful creatures around your area, Must be really exciting to live in a rich, abundant place. I think you are right about my last bird call video being a black capped chickadee. I've listened to so many recorded bird calls my head is spinning :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Yvonne!
DeleteWe have cicadas now drowning out all the bird sounds.
Take care, have a happy new week!
