I am sharing some of the critters seen in my Prettyboy neighborhood and my back yard.  These photos were taken on various days from around July 16th through August 7th.

1. We enjoy seeing the deer walking around our yard, this mama deer and her baby visited our yard often in the morning and again later in the day.

2. Hubby and I are taking our morning walks to the reservoir . The walks lately are early in the morning before the hottest part of the day. The photos below are take on July 16 and July 27th. We saw the Great Blue Heron both days, unknown ducks flying away, a large snapping turtle, a Belted Kingfisher, another Heron and a Carolina Wren.

3. A closer look at the female Belted Kingfisher. She has the rufous belly band unlike the adult male.

4. In my backyard, I am seeing 5-6 Ruby-throated Hummingbirds, a bullfrog hanging out near our little pond, Monarch Butterfly, Clear-wing Hummingbird Moth, Eastern Tiger Swallowtail Butterflies, Eastern Bluebird with insect, waterlily and a rabbit near our pond.

5. The male Eastern Bluebird, caught an insect to take to his babies in the birdhouse.

6. Monarch Butterfly with a Clear-wing Hummingbird Moth.

7. The male Ruby-throated Hummingbird sits close to the feeder.

8. The Bull frog sits on a rock at the little pond.

9.  On this day, a Rabbit was sitting close the our little pond.

Saturday's Critters # 400

Welcome to Saturday's Critters  # 400

Hello and happy Saturday!

My first Saturday's Critter linky was on Dec 7, 2013. As long as I have critter lovers joining in with my critter party, the linky will go on and on. Thanks to all who participate with Saturday's Critters.

July 11th, we met up with a friend for lunch in York Pa. It was the first time meeting up since Covid started, at least a year and half went by. Hubby and I left a little early and took a walk around the Kiwanis Lake in York Pa to see the Great Egret and Black-crowned Night Heron rookeries.

1. The Kiwanis Lake in York Pennsylvania.

2. In the tallest pine trees across the lake are the Great Egrets and their nest.

3. A closer look at the Great Egrets at their rookery.

4. Most of the Great Egrets nest were in 3 tall pine trees standing close together.

5. The juvenile Great Egrets have grown a lot since our last visit to the rookery.

6. Various images of mostly juvenile Black-crowned Night Herons. On this visit we saw more juveniles than adult night herons.

7. A Slider Turtle is seen with 3 juvenile Black-crowned Night Herons.

8. A juvenile Black-crowned Night Heron standing on the pipe.

9. In the background and on the left side of the stick and the juvenile Black-crowned Night Heron is an adult Night Heron. The adult heron's and the nest must be hidden in all the greenery.

10. I count as many as 7 juvenile Black-crowned Night Herons below, some only small parts are seen.

I hope you enjoyed seeing these Great Egrets and Black-crowned Night Herons.  We had a nice walk, visit with the birds and our friend.

As usual time is flying by, hubby and I try to get out often for our walks with nature. The following images are from our walk on the local NCR trail (North Central railroad trail) and some back yard birds seen on our Zinnia plant.

1. I am not sure if the top left flowers are honeysuckle or fuchsia, Damselfly, Fleabane, view of the trail and signs about the old NCR Railroad, A male Scarlet Tanager, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher and another look at the Scarlet Tanager.

2. A beautiful male Scarlet Tanager perched in a tree along side the trail, once in awhile he would start singing.

3. Another look at the Scarlet Tanager,  he is red with black wings. The Scarlet Tanager is a summer breeder for my area.

4. A mosaic with the American Goldfinch top left, two Eastern Bluebird. Later 3-4 Goldfinches could be seen on eating the  seeds off my Zinnia plant.

5. I think the Bluebirds were curious at to what the Goldfinches were eating, they must have been hungry.

6. A closer look at the American Goldfinch.

7. A second young Eastern Bluebird was coming in for a landing on the Zinnias, the bird there looks surprised.

8. I am lucky to watch this scene with the Goldfinches and Bluebirds right outside my dining room window.

9. The young Bluebird with it's speckled chest, was looking around the zinnias for food.

10.  I counted at least 4 Goldfinches on the Zinnias below, how many can you find?

I hope you enjoyed my birds and photos this week. I look forward to seeing your critter post.
