Hello and happy Saturday!

Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!
I have more photos from our getaway to Ocean City, Delaware Shore and Assateague Island NWR.
1. Sunrise on the beach at Ocean City, Md. The only birds seen on the beach were various species of Gulls.
2. Silhouette of a sea duck or is it a Cormorant? Sunrise at Ocean City, MD.
3. Below are birds and scenes from the Sunset Park in Ocean City, Maryland. The Gulls and Cormorants perched on a pier, A Northern Flicker, Cormorant tangled with lure and fishing line, possible White-winged Scoter, Common Loon, Gulls with Great Blue Heron.
4. At the Indian River Inlet we saw a flock of Bufflehead Ducks.
5. At the Indian River Inlet, I was happy to see a flock of Bufflehead Ducks, in the winter usually we see more Sea ducks, Scoters, Loons and Grebes. It is also a good spot to see the Sanderlings, Turnstones and the Purple Sandpipers.
6. We went back to Assateague State Park and Assateague Island NWR for a second time. During our visit we spotted the American Black Ducks, lots of Bufflehead Ducks with a few Horned Grebes, Great Blue Heron, Red-tailed Hawk and the Gulls.
7. A few Horned Grebes below were mixed in with the Bufflehead Ducks.
8. A Red-tailed Hawk was seen off the road in Assateague Island NWR.

The hawk, no wonder with those sharp eyes, and fierce claws, they can spot and lift up their prey so easily. Great photos of all you saw, but the hawk is my pick tonight .

I have come to love ducks, such versatile creatures. I would love to see such splendid creatures as you have here. However, all birds are a passion for me now. You are an inspiration to me Eileen!
ReplyDeleteThank you Marie! I am so glad you enjoy the birds, they are a simple pleasure and lovely to see.
DeleteTake care, have a happy weekend.
Don't you love them?! So nice to see a beach and open water, never mind the birds you find!
ReplyDeleteThanks for faithfully hosting. I appreciate it in these crazy times.
Thank you Jenn! I do love being at the beach, even in the winter.
DeleteTake care, have a happy weekend.
Purple Sandpiper is a very elusive species here, mainly found above Niagara Falls in the winter, and even then with great difficulty, and not frequently. I have seen them in Europe several times and it is handsome shorebird. In North America I have seen them but once.
ReplyDeleteThank you David! The inlets here seem to be a great spot for the Purple Sandpipers. Previous years they just seemed to be more of them around. Take care, have a happy weekend.
DeleteGorgeous background shades!

ReplyDeleteI like to see all those birds especially the ones that don't live here as the red tailed hawk.
Here we have an "invasion" of gulls maybe because it's getting cold.

Hello Eileen, thank you for the link up. What happens when I try to link up is, I get a list of older posts, which I don't know how to get rid of, and also if I forget to title my post, but later correct it, it doesn't show, so I really don't know how to link up with these problems. I'll try to link up next week! Sorry for the inconvenience.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your post, I do not mind linking up for you if you need help.
DeleteHave a great day and a happy new week!
Hi Eileen! :) That hawk photo is so gorgeous. And so are the skies, especially the Cormorant/Sea Duck silhouette photo, wow. You have one sky shot where it looks like a pink feather, that is so pretty! :)

Eileen - I love the preponderance of sea-going creatures, but the hawk is my favorite. We drove 7+ hours from Idaho Falls today, and lost count when we reached 50 raptors, including several pairs of bald eagles!!!
