Saturday's Critters # 422

Welcome to Saturday's Critters!

Hello and happy Saturday!

If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

We enjoyed our visit on Dec 12-14th to Ocean City Md , Indian River Inlet Delaware and on the way home we stopped at Bombay Hook NWR near Dover Delaware.

1. Our last morning, we watched the sunrise at beach in front of our Ocean City hotel. We drove a loop home through Delaware stopping at the Indian River Inlet for one last time. We saw one Long-tailed Duck, Sanderlings, lots of Gulls on the beach, Bufflehead Ducks and a Common Loon.

2.  Indian River Inlet in Delaware is usually a great place to see the sea ducks, below is a one Long-tailed Duck. This one duck was by itself, usually we see a flock of these Long-tailed Ducks.

3. Also seen at the Indian River Inlet, a group of Bufflehead Ducks.

4. Bombay Hook NWR is one of my favorite places to visit, we drove the wildlife drive and below are the some of my sightings. Two deer stood close to the drive, Mute Swans, Northern Pintail and Gadwall ducks, lots of Canada Geese, Tundra Swans, Hooded Mergansers, Great Egret in the tree and various duck species.

5.

6. The Hooded Mergansers are one of my favorite ducks. Some other ducks seen mostly with their heads down in the water were the American Black Duck, Mallards, Northern Shoveler, Gadwall, Green-winged Teal, Northern Pintail, possibly some Ring-necked Ducks and Scaup.

7.  We watched two different pairs of Bald Eagles at Bombay Hook NWR, they liked sitting close to their mate.

8. The Bald Eagles are always a treat to see.

Last but definitely not the least, our cute grandson and our grand dogs. We recently started dog sitting, they will be here for 5-6 months. Our son and DIL are in the process of selling their home and having a new one built. They will be moving in temporarily with the in-laws and are not able to take the dogs with them. Below Wyatt, Winnie and Nibbles.

Thank you for sharing your critters and post!

Thanks to all my visitors and for your past and present comments. Stop back to see any replies to your comments. I appreciate everyone who loves and respects wildlife. Thank you for linking up a critter post.

Hello Eileen,

The Bald Eagles of course not, so it is nice to see them in your blog.

Lovely capture from your visit to these places, and the first set of photos are fantastic, and for the second batch, you give a good borderline to suit the dry grasses. I like your grandson's cute little teeth, and he's so adorable. Happy dog sitting days, and I hope you can manage the dogs for that long period. Take care

seeing your shots always want me to live by the ocean, or at least nearby. So much to see and wonder about. Even when they are just passing through. It was years since I saw long tailed ducks. They are so beautiful.
Take care!

There are many beautiful ducks around the world, (all of them in fact) but Hooded Merganser is especially appealing, I think.

Your drives produce so many different birds Eileen. Indian River i would love to see - the name invokes visions of the Wild West! I enjoy seeing all the birds because they are mostly species I do not see at all, only in birding blogs. I like the Bald Eagles as you know, and you seem to see them an awful lot. Grandson Wyatt is so cute
Happy weekend! And thanks for Linky.

Such lovely water birds and oh! the bald eagles! Just seeing these in photos reminds me of how they take my breath away when seeing them in person. Love your little grandbaby and grandpups! Thanks for your many comments on my blogs!

Your grandson might be one of the cutest little boys I've ever seen (and I've seen a couple of cute ones in my recent time!) I love that outfit, that smile -- he's a charmer! And Mergansers are my fave, too. I don't see them often and when I do, I'm always thrilled!

RedPat said...

You saw so many different birds! You are going to have fun with the dogs and they will enjoy their time with you.

Sondra said...

SO love seeing all the ducks in your post we just don't get many ducks in these parts and I think it's due to the water depth being too high...I can't put my finger on any other reason deep water means no food growing on the bottom..NOW in the low country they do show up but then it's open to hunters..;o(
Oh it will be fun seeing your grand dogs in your posts while they are in temp housing with you...We are preparing for an Ice storm so you may get snow this weekend!! TC and be safe.

MadSnapper said...

HI Eileen! I Love seeing all the water birds in your collage and the majestic eagles in the trees. Your grandson is a handsome little boy--what a cute smile he has. We had a good snowfall last night and were busy shoveling this morning. The sun is out so that will help with the melt. Have a wonderful weekend! Hugs, Pat
