Saturday's Critters # 562

Welcome to Saturday's Critters! Hello and Happy Saturday!

If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

Aug 1st was day two and we were on the road called Park Hwy considered a scenic byway to Denali and goes all the way to Fairbanks. Our drive from Anchorage to the Denali National Park was about 250 miles almost 5 hours with stops. This part of the trip was for 3 nights in Healy Alaska and to visit Denali National Park and Preserve.

One stop was at the Denali State Park to look at the views of the Denali Mountain. I like the map showed all the peak names of the mountains in the distance.

1. A moose on the loose, I am glad I saw this guy come out of the forest and started crossing the road in front of us.  There were moose warning signs on every road we were on in Alaska.

2. The Denali Visitor Center has a great exhibit and information on the park.

3. Later during our visits to the park we got to see one huge bull moose in the park, it was seen during the day we drove the allowed distance you could drive your car in the park.

4. We enjoyed walking a few of the trails near the visitor center, one trail took us to the creek under the railroad bridge. The Alaska Railroad brings in tourists from the cruise boats to the park for visits.

5. I love bears, this sculpture outside the visitor center is so cute.

6. The Gray Jay was sitting on a bench outside the visitor center. This bird is a common bird seen in Alaska.

7. A so called "easy" trail to the Horseshoe Lake in Denali National Park. There were so many steps, we did walk roundtrip close to 2 miles to the lake. I could hear birds along all the trails we hiked, they were camera shy. I could hear some Nuthatches and Chickadees.

8. A view of the Horseshoe Lake, we cut the walk short and did not walk the loop around the lake. Which would end up 4 miles round trip. It was a long day and we were ready to eat dinner and check into our hotel.

I am linking up to Heidrun's Mosaic Monday  I hope you can stop by and visit Heidrun and check out the Mosaic Monday post.

Thanks to all my visitors and for your past and present comments. Stop back to see any replies to your comments. I appreciate everyone who loves and respects wildlife. Thank you for linking up a critter post.

Denali looks like a wildlife watcher's dream. We have always wanted to go there, but never managed to plan such a trip. You really saw a lot of moose!
Thank you for hosting the critters each week.

Oh, it's necessary to be careful with a moose. What is the weight of a moose? I thought about a deer, which runs into the car of my sister! Sie has luck on this accident and was well after. But the car was expensive....

...an adventure, dear Eileen, I see. And nevertheless I enjoyed your post again. Thank you for sharing and for hosting. Have a wonderful week.
Greetings by Heidrun

Hello Eileen,
This is a beautiful series of photos.
The views of Denali Mountain are really beautiful.
Great that you saw the crossing moose.
Also nice the exhibition and information about the park.
The Alaska Railroad seems great to do, too bad it is not feasible for us, a bit too far away from the Netherlands.
I wish you a great weekend.
Greetings Irma

Impressive animals, the moose. My friend once had one close to her car, she was a little shocked how huge they really are. For her meeting, she said, she was VERY awake, LOL. Have a great Saturday.

Hello Eileen,
Your photos from Alaska are wonderful. The moose looks very big. I can understand all the warning signs. You don't want to crash into one of them for sure. The nature and the landscape is so beautiful in Alaska. Take care, and enjoy your weekend!

the collage with the EASY trail, ha ha on that, is my favortite part. love the bear taking a snooze.. I would only want to see a moose from my car and far away. they are magnificent and dangerous.

It’s a legendary park that most of us would love to visit, but few will. Any day with a moose is a great day!

NatureFootstep said...

You are so lucky to see all the animals. And being able to visit places. On my walks I mostly see horses and crows. The deers seem to have moved to other places as the forests are being cut down : (

What a special experience! I guess by 'easy' it was meant that the footing was good, the path well-cared for and no actual climbing involved! I'm glad you saw some live wildlife, not just the exhibits, albeit they look very good. The bear sculpture is lovely. Have a good weekend! YAM xx

Dear Eileen, how wonderful the moose encounter was! Although I've had the chance in Finland and Sweden, I've never encountered a moose in the wild. I hope I'll experience that in the future! The landscape looks beautiful - and the bear statue is really cute. I'd rather keep my distance from a real bear 😉. My current blog post also features a hike that we didn't quite complete - sometimes it's better to turn back...
All the best and happy weekend, Traude

Visiting Denali is on my bucket list. It would be great to see the mountain but that is kind of iffy from what I read due to the clouds. It would be great to see the wildlife there and explore the trails some as well, like you did.

Brings back such good memories -- I absolutely loved our Alaska RV Trip (we camped at the last camping place you can drive to on the way to Denali, from there we had to take a bus) -- it was great although we didn't see the mountain top.
