A Vulture Skywatch

I am linking to Skywatch Friday   with up my backyard sunrise, a capture of the moon and lots of Vultures.

On Sunday morning there were NOT many clouds in the sky but the few that were there are a pretty pink color.

I like the closeup of the moon, it is cool seeing some craters and shadows. Not bad for my handheld Canon Powershot.

I do not think there is a time that I look up at the sky and NOT see a Vulture. Every morning they fly out of the woods next to my house and every evening they fly back. I can almost time their exits and the time they return. It is like they go to work, like I do every week day. It is amazing the numbers of vultures both the Turkey and Black Vultures that roost in the trees near my house.

My youtube video of the vultures.

Another shot of the moon and a pretty blue sky.

I hope you enjoyed my skywatch.
To see more wonderful skies click on my link Skywatch Friday  Thanks to the hosting group: Sylvia, Sandy and Wren.

I also want to thank you for visiting my post and blog. I appreciate the lovely comments. I hope everyone has a happy and safe weekend.

I enjoyed your pictures. The moon and sky are gorgeous.

We once lived in a very tall house with a turret on top. The turkey vultures would stand up there and make the most noise!!!

Very nice shots - I especially love the closeup of the moon! The regular schedule of the vultures does make me wonder what inner clock is driving them?

The number of vultures flying overhead is amazing. Do they get the weekend off. Where do they go for the day? Hunting i suspect. What could so many feed on?

I forgot to say the moon shot is a beauty.

Love the video. The moon and sky photos are superb. I once saw a vulture in a zoo but to have so many flying above the back of your house is mind blowing to me.

Eileen, I loved your post. The moon shots in the pink sky are beautiful. I only saw vultures in the game parks; not seen any around the valley where we live. Thanks for your regular visits and kind comments on my blog. Have a great weekend. Jo

Hi Eileen, what settings did you use for that nice moon zoom? My Elph doesn't seem to do that well.

I love your moon shots--and yes, your camera did a great job of getting the detail. Lovely sky too-doesn't "jump out at you", but is beautiful in a subtle way. Have a lovely weekend. Mickie :)

Holy cow that's a lot of vultures - so cool! And your moon shots are spectacular!

PS Sorry it's taken me so long to get over here. I'm about to introduce a new line of greeting cards which just went to the printer's this week, and it sent the rest of my life into a bit of a black hole while I did...

You have quite a number of vultures there! As for the geese, I think they are spending the nights in a field east of us.
