Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a wonderful Happy New Years to everyone!
I visit the Bombay Hook wildlife refuge often and during the summer the Black Necked Stilt can be seen there. They are cool looking birds, their legs seem to be able to bend all kinds of ways.
They like to search for food in the mud flats or can be seen walking in water that is more like puddles.
On this one day I was able to catch the reflection of the Black Necked Stilt.

What wonderful photographs of the Black Necked Stilt! The next to the last photograph is my favorite. I see that this is a reflection meme; you did well capturing the bird's reflections.
We have a nature sanctuary near where I live. I visited it a few times this past year and intend to frequent it more often next year. It's a great place to capture bird photographs and a great place to walk.
Merry Christmas :-)
Beautiful captures! It is interesting how the stilt bends its legs. Merry Christmas!
I think I see mudskipper in your picture, and it is being chased after by the Black Necked Stilt.
Merry Christmas dear friend!
Cute set of pictures and great reflections for sure!

Oh wow, we find the black stilts over here too, they are so graceful!
Merry Christmas if it is not too late...
Great pictures.I love reflections of all kinds.Christmas blessings to you.

super shots indeed - the bird looks so delicate.
Great shots! I had to enlarge the last one, the bent weeds and their reflections made arrows pointing the way!
what a cool place, thanks for sharing Eileen. A blessed Christmas to you and your family!

This certainly indicates that animals have evolved to meet the needs of their habitat.
Good reflection, Eileen. Wonderful shot.
They are cool looking birds and your photos are great.
What amazing legs - it's like they were assembled backwards.
Merry Christmas Eileen, I hope it's a wonderful one.
Lovely photos! Such nice long legs :-)
... "Moonlight becomes you..."
Not a bird that I am familiar with but it is a beauty. Those legs certainly are impressive.
Merry Christmas Eileen!
Great photos, Super reflections!
Merry Christmas! The reflection photos are awesome - I always love reflection shots but they're especially cool because the stilt has such long legs!
Very cool looking bird. The reflections are excellent.
Great shots.
Stilts are just so elegant looking. They are perfect for their enviroment and a treat to watch them gracefully take in their surroundings.
Season's Greetings.....
Balance - probably the most difficult, yet most successful movement.
May you all have a wonderful Christmas time, filled with much harmony and balance.
nice photos, stilts are so elegant and fragile looking, aren't they? great subjects for photographs!
Brilliant, Eileen. The second to last image is stunning although they're excellent (I'm running out of adjectives here!) We only have one "stilt" in South Africa: the Black winged stilt. It has a black beak, red eyes and red legs. Other wise it looks a lot like your stilt (LOL!) Blessings and love at this time for you and your loved ones. Thanks for visiting my blog. (((Hugs))) Jo
Outstanding reflections -- and what a superb subject!
Your pictures are so refreshing! It's good to see some nature when you live in town all the year long; And The reflection is pure and perfect!

Welcome!
Eileen, These are gorgeous! That is one very cool looking bird. :)
Awesome photos! I noticed the reflection in the first one, then was aware to look for it in the others. It's fun when your photos work for more than one of the memes you participate in.
Merry Christmas!
wow, I would love to see that bird. What a beauty!
Eileen: Wonderful photos of the shore bird. They are quite beautiful. I love reflections.
I don't think we see this bird in Southern California but I enjoyed the way you captured it and it's reflections to share. Thanks for visiting Small Reflections earlier.
Hugs and blessings,
Stilts are such beautiful birds and your photos have captured that very well.
These are great shots of a beautiful bird. I love the last one, the reflections of his legs seem to frame his reflection! Great capture. Kathy
Wonderful bird!! And you are so right about the bird in my blog, it is an Golden Growned Kinglets..we call it Fuglekonge direktly translated: bird-king. I'm so happy to get help in translation of breeds, because my English is quite domestic...so I try to find the Latin names...hoping people understand. Thank you and have a good time the temaining days of this holiday:)) Greetings from Norway
These are fabulous!!! What a gorgeous bird! I've never seen one until this visit to your blog.
Beuatiful photos of the Black-necked Stilt! Love the reflection.
Awesome photos. We live near some tidal mudflats in New Zealand. We have stilts that look a bit like these, but they're much smaller and they're very shy. These ones look as if they enjoyed having their photos taken. :)
Happy Holidays, Eileen! These are wonderful shots of the Stilt.
What an interesting bird, the legs look so delicate. I love the first photo as he seems to be looking at his reflection on the water.
I almost forgot to tell you that your 'follow' icon doesn't have a link back to your blogs. It's something you have to add. Go to the icon and look for options and then you can add the links.

Those reflections are wonderful. What a very handsome bird. I like the mergansers in the post above too - fabulous shots!
That is such a graceful looking bird!
Beautiful shots!
Wonderful images of birds and nature! Love watching those little stilts work a stretch of shore. Lovely reflections too.
