Duck, Duck Goose!

It's time to link up with some of my favorites memes Watery Wednesday II , Skywatch Friday and  NF Winged

These are shots from last weekend and our trip to Bombay Hook NWR in Delaware. I took a lot of shots of the Snow Geese and other ducks seen at Bombay Hook.

It was a beautiful day to be out, the skies were blue and clear. And at times the sky was filled with Snow Geese!

The first Snow Geese we saw landed on this field. This view is a common scene around the Bombay Hook NWR.

This shot above shows just how large the flock is, my photo is not showing able to show all the Snow Geese.

Coming in for a landing, make way for me.

I enjoyed watching these Northern Shovelers following each other in a row.

A view of one of the ponds at Bombay Hook, the sunlight was reflecting across the water.

When we first arrived at the refuge there was ice and the geese and ducks were skating on sections of the pond.

I am not sure why my photo has these red spots, maybe a reflection from the car window. I kind of like how this photo turned out.

The sun was heading down as we left the wildlife refuge. I hope you enjoyed my ride around the wildlife refuge.

To see more beautiful photos please visit  Watery Wednesday II
and pretty skies Skywatch Friday
and to see more of the winged critters check out NF Winged

Thanks to Tricia for hosting Water Wednesday II, Sylvia and Sandy for hosting Skywatch Friday! Thanks to the host of NF Winged.  Also, thank you for stopping by to see my post. I wish everyone a safe and happy weekend.

WOW! So many geese!! And it's so cool how their legs hang down when they're coming in to land - a little bit like Pelicans downunder!

What a wonderful day Eileen! I envy you being so close to Bombay Hook, it seems like the best birding place ever!!

All great pictures, but I particlarly love the parade of shovelers. The whole series is great, makes me feel as if I spent the day alonside you. (Wish I could; you'd be a wonderful birding guide!)

Very cool shots Eileen of the Snow Geese....well done. I love that one of them landing. That is quite the sight when thousands of them are all coming in at once. WOWSA!

Lew said...

That's a lot of geese! Love the shots of the geese landing. As for your spots, you are getting lens flare from the bright sun in the picture. It comes from internal reflections in the lens. It is present in your last shot also and enhances the effect of the sun reflected on the water.

Love the final capture of the day. Very well done.

Hi Eileen-
I'm returning the visit from Girasole Farm via GYB Party.
I love all your birds pictures. I enjoy feeding and watching the birds here at our place.
I have a couple of birds books that both my Grand-daughters really like to look at, and it is great fun.
To be honest- this is the first bird watching blog I have ever come across.
I'll be joining as a follower, and hope to get to know you a little better.
Your pictures are great.
We'll be chatting again soon.

What an impressive flock of geese! That would be fun to see and photograph. Myakka State Park is a great place for birding, particularly in the evening in the winter. Depending on when you'll be visiting in April, some of the migratory birds may still be here. Also, you may want to check out the celery fields in Sarasota which is a wonderful birding location as well.
