I was trying to capture a good reflection shot, but the scene looked crowded. The grasses and sky and the heron were all being seen in the reflection.
This is my favorite Great Blue Heron shot. It was another bird seen at Blackwater NWR last weekend.

What amazing shots of these beautiful birds; they are so intense, aren't they? Love the first shot, in particular for the vertical lines of the tall, dry grasses and the slightly camouflaged image of the heron. Brilliant.

Herons are really great subjects. They always looks so aloof!

How wonderful to find your Saturday Critter meme, I definitely plan on joining in on next Saturday. The Great blue heron photos are wonderful, however my love of the dry grasses draws my attention to the first photo you have posted. Perhaps it is the colour that attracts me to grasses as they evoke a feeling of tranquility for me. All of the Heron photos are wonderful!
