I loved o see the Night Heron and the fine dragonflies. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat detail in your dragon flies Eileen. Thanks for hosting.
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen-sorry I can't help you on your dragonfly ID's. I enjoy watching them, but have never become familiar with them.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a good weekend. Hubby is off to an auction all day, so I'll be able to FINALLY get some time in the garden.

It is Saturday's Critter again.
ReplyDeleteAnd I see birds, besides mushrooms found many many miles away.
Hi Eileen,

Best regards, Irma
Hello, Eileen;
ReplyDeleteWonderful pictures of Night Heron on the hunt♫♫♫ I wish I could see different colored one, I can only see egret p;)
My husband said your butterflies are Male and Female 'Common Skimmer'. Even though I posted (luckily) them before, your pictures are SO fabulous(^_^)v
I hope you will have a wonderful weekend.
Sending you Lots of Love and Hugs to my Dear friend in America, xoxo Miyako*
Happy Weekend, too! Those dragonflies are awesome... and I never seen before... from such close distance!!
ReplyDeleteThe night Heron is pretty, as well as the dragonflies...sorry I can't help you identify them. I hope your Saturday is a good one!
ReplyDeleteNeat sighting of the night heron, Eileen. I'm another one that needs to research dragonflies. ;)

ReplyDeleteI see the species is much like our indeed!
I still have to photograph the adult birds!!
Lovely dragons, you have american websites to help you ID them! ;-)
I love the female's colours and the male looks much like one species we have here!!
Keep well dear Eileen
Beautiful dragonflies and night heron shots, Eileen. Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteThe blue one is known as a Blue Dasher, I believe, Eileen. The brown one might be a brown Hawker??? Thanks, once again for having us!...:)JP
ReplyDeleteNice post and photos. Will plan on linking up in the future. Do you think my roadside camel in Ohio would count? LOL
ReplyDeleteI like it!!! The one of the heron in the distance with the sparkling water is my favorite today.
ReplyDeleteGreat captures!! Love your "dragons" :)
ReplyDeleteLovely dragonflies! :)
ReplyDeleteA great day you were having, the dragonflies and Heron, superb.
ReplyDeleteThe dragonfly photos are fantastic. It's hard to capture them as they flit around. Have a great weekend Eileen.
ReplyDeleteI was talking about this very thing with my daughter, who is having an overnighter. She has a scientist at work (she's a hydrogeologist) who knows everything about local flora and fauna.
ReplyDeleteI will gather a post of all of my dragonflies, for example, and do research to name them then promptly forget them all! Thanks for hosting, on time, and early!
Those close-ups of the dragonflies are really amazing shots.
ReplyDeleteQuanta beleza para encher os olhos! beijos, tudo de bom, chica
ReplyDeleteI'm no expert on dragonflies, but drug out my Audubon Society Field Guide to North American Insects and searched through the dragonfly section. I'm guessing Blue Dasher and Yellow Sided Skimmer. Google and see what you think. Really enjoyed seeing the Heron. That's a new one for me.
ReplyDeleteYour dragonfly pics are gorgeous. Happy Saturday, Eileen.
ReplyDeletebeautiful dragon flies.. i can't ID them though.. i love the sparkles in the water like Diamonds
ReplyDeleteHe's a new one for me- haven't even heard of this fella. I'll have to google and find out how he got his name. Can't help on the dragonfly- I call them all the same name...dragonfly. LOL!

ReplyDeleteLove the heron...and the dragonflies. Just don't know how to ID them, but I think they are beautiful. Happily I have a few critters of join in with in the coming weeks! Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteWe don't seem to have any night Herons around us ... I'm not sure why because they seem fairly commong in Wisconsin ... but it is a treat to see this one in your pictures. The first Dragonfly looks like our Green Darner, but then what do I know, I am simply guessing. The pictures are great though and the second one looke like a metalic gold ... beautiful. Thanks, Eileen.
ReplyDeleteAndrea @ From the Sol
Nice shots of the Black-crowned Night-Heron. We get mostly Yellow-crowned in our neighborhood. The dragonfly may be a Needham's Skimmer, but I am not an expert.
ReplyDeleteThe Night Heron it's fantastic. Wonderful shots.
ReplyDeletethat blue is so lovely and the bird
ReplyDeleteHello Eileen,
ReplyDeleteVery good shots you've made again. Wonderful how you've get that heron in your shot. That dragonfly is very beautiful too. Well done Eileen.
Best regards,
Marco
Wonderful pictures, Eileen!
ReplyDeleteI'd say that blue dragonfly is an Eastern Pondhawk. Note the white-tipped claspers compared to a Blue Dasher.
The gold and red dragonfly might be a female Blue Dasher.
~
Wonderful photos and a great night heron.
ReplyDeleteNice dragonfly pics! Happy weekend to you!
