I am linking up with Mary's last Mosaic Monday and Our World Tuesday
Edited: I did not know at the time of creating this post that we would be saying Goodbye to Mosaic Monday.. I wish Mary the host of Mosaic Monday all the best with her photography and future projects.. I will miss Mosaic Monday!!
This is our walk from last weekend, an easy walking trail in a local park..We picked this spot because it was close to the gas station where I fill up my car for the week's ride to work.. As hubby and I did our two loops around the trail, I was looking for birds, butterflies and blooms..
In my mosaic above, I have the Eastern Bluebird, American Goldfinch, Northern Mockingbird and an Eastern Towhee.
The Eastern Towhee seems to be a common bird, seen often in forest during our walks..
A monarch, a swallowtail and I believe the middle is a Cabbage White and the yellow is a Sulfur.
The Monarach butterfly.. I have happy to see them during my walks the last two weeks..
Above is some milkweed and Queen Anne's Lace.

And here are some shots from the trail, it was a beautiful day with a pretty sky.. It was neat seeing some swallows and maybe some purple martins flying low over the fields..They are so quick, it was too hard trying to get a shot of the swallows..
I hope you enjoyed our weekend walk with the birds, butterflies and blooms..Thanks for stopping by and for the comments.

gorgeous butterfly shots. i love the Queen Anne's Lace. not sure i have ever seen milkweed. or realized what it was. thanks!! was talking to my neighbor about not seeing monarch butterflies any more she explained it was due to the less milkweed plant being around these part. that is so so sad. i wonder what is going on? give me some milkweed & i will start planting. i miss those guys. ReplyDeleteyou have the greatest walks each weekend. thanks, for taking us along.
Such a lovely walk Eileen!
ReplyDeleteWe have a towhee that likes to get on our bathroom window and peck at it ---- early in the morning. Grrrr! I close the blinds thinking it was pecking at it's reflection - but it continues to knock until my husband goes outside and shoooos it off!! I did put a flower pot on the ledge and that seems to help for now.
the towhee is so handsome! i'd love to see one.
ReplyDeleteI've only seen Towhees a couple of times in the past few years. Never photographed one. You've got a great place to walk!
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful collages of the monarch butterfly and birds.
Certainly The Eastern Towhee, which is wonderful.
Nice bird and butterfly shots!

So many delights to make your walk far more interesting. You have captured each one well too. Lovely to see the Monarch (or Wonderer as we call them here in Australia) butterfly too!

ReplyDeletesuch fun walks you two get to go and lovely photos for us to see. I love the American Goldfinch (it's yellow!)
ReplyDeleteAs always, lovely photos--For the first time in who knows how long, I saw an Eastern Towhee in our yard. Monarchs would be great to see too--I'm glad you're seeing them, I had no idea until this year that they are in such dire straights and their numbers have dwindled.
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen, I sure like this collection of photo's. I miss seeing the Eastern Towhee's here - have not seen any in many months. Guess they are around elsewhere in this development but unknown to me yet. Have a wonderful Monday tomorrow!
ReplyDeletePerfectly fitting for Mary's last get together, Eileen!...:)JP
ReplyDeleteWhat splendid pictures. I have seen the Towhee and it truly is beautiful. I adore butterflies, also. Have a wonderful Sunday evening, Eileen.
ReplyDeleteI did enjoy "our" week end walk. Thank you so much. We have lots of barn Swallows around here and I saw one in the middle of the road surrounded by a small flock of more swallows. I drove right over him but backed up and saw that he was a fledgling and not ready to fly away. I picked him up and placed him in the adjoining pasture. We drove back a bit later and he was encouraged to fly away. YAY!
ReplyDeleteLove your collages. MB
Your photos are truly beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBirds, butterflies and blooms ...
what could be better?
Hugs,
Patti
That was a lovely walk, Eileen. As I looked at the photos I wondered if there is any bird prettier than the little Goldfinch.
ReplyDeleteLooking at your sidebar and at the picture of you as a little girl - I will have to dig out the photo of me in the identical dress!

ReplyDeleteYou were at the gas station, I was at the Petrol station..., you were skipping through the clover admiring the birds and butterflies I was scraping the ice of the windscreen and admiring the snow on the mountain tops from inside a heated car :)
