Saturday's Critters #67
Happy weekend, everyone! It's Saturday and it's time to share your critters.. Any kind of critter will do, even a new or old post.. I appreciate everyone who has linked up in the past and for those who are linking in on this week's critter party. And of course I always appreciate my blogging friends stopping by just for a visit.
I had this post scheduled, just in case I did not make it home in time. So, I am still going with it.. But, we are home from our road trip to Florida..sorry I was not able to visit most of your blog post..I tried leaving comments from the hotel's wifi and my ipad... but that was super slow..
I am looking forward to seeing all the waders nesting in our area soon.. The photo above is from last year.
Before we left for our Florida trip I noticed our neighborhood Great Blue Herons have returned to their nest..I took this shot yesterday ..not the best shot thru the trees. As always thanks for visiting and thanks for the nice comments..Happy weekend!!

It's hard to imagine Herons nesting in trees even though we see it here too - they look so awkward! I've only seen the Night-herons once, and would love to have more time with them.
ReplyDeleteDearest Eileen, I'm so happy for your safe back. great pictures of the Blue Herons♡♡♡ I guess the two of them in the first picture is also heron :-)
ReplyDeleteGetting warm here and hope your winter is over by now.

ReplyDeleteLovely pics and a great time of year to watch species preparing to nest.
ReplyDeleteSo great to have a heron nest nearby. I used to love to watch one near us when we lived in Oregon. Thank you for hosting!
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a good trip! I'm sure you'll have photos! I like the herons!
ReplyDeleteOh, so pretty views with birds... Spring is so moody here; one day sunny weather and then rains hardly :) ... lol So I couldn't adventure to far for a walk, but I captured some flying birds on the sky while I was looking at the half moon!! Eileen, all the best for the next week and a good sunny weekend, too!
ReplyDeleteFun to see the herons. Thanks for hosting and I wish you a restful weekend. Mildred
ReplyDeleteOh wow, Eileen, those first two birds are spectacular! Is the one displaying for the mate? Thanks for hosting this meme. I linked my post already. Have a great weekend. Jo

Wonderful birds - I'm always looking for nests - there is a rookery of Great Blue Heron's in our area - actually four rookeries that we've discovered and often we will see dozens of herons coming and going from the nests.

ReplyDeleteI am so jealous! I love Florida. It's my home away from home. I love the Destin area. (The most beautiful beach in the states, IMHO). And of course there's Disney World. (I was there last November). I hope you post lots of photos!
ReplyDeleteThose are some great photos of the herons. I've seen something like that recently, around our neighbor's pond. I never could get a nice picture though because they're always in his pasture.
What I can't wait to see are the hummingbirds returning. I'm getting worried that I haven't seen any yet. (Last year we had dozens of them visit daily, from sunrise to sundown).
Fantastic photos, both from last year and this. Happy Saturday!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back! Those are pretty birds.

ReplyDeleteHi Eileen, Good to see you're back home ... hope you had a great trip to Florida. Good to see the birds are back too ... thanks for sharing the photos. John
ReplyDeleteThose Yellow-crowned Night Herons are really handsome birds. I haven't seen them in a few years but I hope to rectify that in Costa Rica next January.
ReplyDeleteA trip to Florida sounds heavenly. I hope you had a wonderful time :)
ReplyDeleteWelcome home, Eileen. Looking forward to reading your Florida post :)
ReplyDeleteYour Yellow-crowned Night-Herons remind me that our local rookery is inhospitable because of the herbicide damage. We now have only one pair of YCNH's versus 8 pairs last year at this time. Thanks for hosting these critters!
ReplyDeletegorgeous night heron images. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting :)
The Yellow Crowned Herons look amazing. It's funny to see herons in a tree.
ReplyDeleteWhat Fabulous hairdos!!
