Linking up with Wild Bird Wednesday and Nature Notes and NC Sue Wordless
For this week's wild bird I am sharing the Black-necked Stilt. The Black-necked Stilt is a breeder bird seen at Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge in Delaware. Since April I have been to Bombay Hook NWR three times each time seeing some first of the season birds.
One of the many Black-necked Stilts seen at Bombay Hook NWR.
Caught in the act!
I think the reflections on the shot above are kind of crazy on the eyes.
This shot looks like they are working on their nest. A little fuzzy shot, this was a distance away even for my zoom. I hope you enjoyed my wild bird post and photos. Till next week's wild bird post. such unique birds. :)
You are right about all the reflections, Eileen. A lovely bird...another long legged one!
It's interesting how we never seem to "run out of" birds! These long legged shore dwellers are just one of many beauties I have seen here and on other blogs. I had no idea there were that many of them!
Great wild life shots, Eileen. I learned something new with this, thanks.

awesome shots eileen, what cool birds!!!!
I love the caught in the act of........ gymnastics! Hehehehe! They are a clever and stunning creature, your captures are perfect!
I was so excited when I saw the title of your post! I just saw this bird for the first time ever while we were at our local wildlife refuge. It is a lovely bird and you have some great photos here. In my photos, the slender bill of this bird blended in with the surrounding wetlands as if it has no bill at all. This is very cool, Eileen!
Wonderful series Eileen, I love the double decker caught in the act photo :-)
Hello Eileen, I'm back :)
Had a wonderful time off, but I
missed my blog buddies too much :))
I like the "act" shot alot and the
reflections too, it's hard to tell
which reflection belongs to what :)

These are amazing photos, Eileen. I love the reflections one too. It should be made into a fabric.
Those birds are funny. They don't look like they had sex, they look like they're playing leap frog.. lol
Handsome birds Eileen!
I thought the same thing about the reflections. My eyes weren't sure where to focus but they are pretty neat.
Mais um lindo pássaro!
feliz de você que os encontra sempre!

What an interesting bird, Eileen. That refuge seems like a wonderful place to visit. I love the "Caught in the Act" shot and also the triangular reflection shapes formed by the reeds. Happy June to you and many thanks for being such a committed blogger. So much to learn and enjoy here!

Ahhhhh!!!! That's what they are doing....acting!!!!:) JK. I'm always fascinated by their acrobatic love making. The first time I saw that I thought....what in the world? And then, I put it together in my very slow mind:) Nice shot of these birds. Unique birds in the world of birds!
Dearest Eileen; What a lovely bird with black and white color with LONG legs "Black-necked Stilt" is♡♡♡ You must think strange but your "crazy on the eyes" reflection photo is really gorgeous, I like it ;-)

What a striking bird. This makes me want to try and photograph some birds! But they are such difficult little subjects. Guess I'll just enjoy yours.
Wow! Those are certainly stilt legs.

Very interesting birds Eileen. Have a great day.
You do wonder how stilts manage to do it with those great longs legs! Looks like you found the answer there Eileen, so thanks for showing us. Hope those two didn't mind us watching.
