Florida 2016

Hello,

I am back after a trip to Florida and a quickie stop to see my sister's new place near Myrtle Beach North Carolina. I think I managed to take a few fence shots, sky shots and my usual birdie photos. These images are from Lakeland Florida.

Skywatch at the lake.

A neighborhood Limpkin.

A couple of White Ibis seen on the Walmart parking lot.

A nice sitting area near the lake.

Neighborhood Tricolored Heron and possible a Mottled Duck. The Florida birds were very cooperative posing near the fences.

Another view of the lake, palm tree and sky. I hope you enjoyed your visit. I appreciate your nice comments. Enjoy your day and the weekend ahead!

Here is a list of linky parties for part of the week, I hope to see you there. I have a few fence and my deck railing for Tex's Party and some pretty sky shots.

Thanks to Theresa @ The Run*A*Round Ranch for hosting Good Fences.
Thank you to Sylvia, Yogi and Sandy for hosting Skywatch Friday.

Hi Eileen--looks like a beautiful place. One doesn't usually think of going to Florida in the summer, but as hot and humid as we've all been this summer, I guess that didn't matter!
Glad you had a good time.

beautiful lake views... and oh boy, that Limpkin is trouble, they make an unholy noise that will keep you up at night or day time make you grit your teeth. my friend lives on a lake and last year during mating season they considered putting a hit out on the local two limpkins...

Looks like you had a lovely visit to Florida and the birds do seem cooperative! But isn't Myrtle Beach in South Carolina? We went there once 40+ years ago when my husband was stationed at Fort Jackson.

I have never been to Florida, so I always enjoy posts on Florida life. Common, native birds there are exotics here. Glad you got to spend time with your sis.

Hello Florence, we drove to Florida and broke up the drive by stopping in North Carolina. My sister had a new home built near Myrtle Beach. Thanks for the comment and visit. Happy Thursday, enjoy your day!

It is amazing how many fences we build, most of which we would have never noticed were we not posting in Theresa's Meme. These are fun shots, Eileen and love all the birds just casually hanging out.

Good grief, the Limpkins on the Walmart parking lot, incredible!!
I thought of you a few days ago, Eileen when I saw the full moon!!!
I took a picture of it with my 80 mm lens with you very present in my mind!! LOL!
I will publish it soon!
Great post, happy you enjoyed North Carolina, much nicer along the coast than in Raleigh!
Warm hugs and keep well!

A very warm welcome back to you, dear Eileen! While I do see some birds on Wal-Mart parking lots here in Montreal, they are pigeons and seagulls, certainly not the large birds in your photo. Another beautiful series!

Sorry I've been so absent, Eileen. I'm not sitting for long these days. Florida is such a different world from Wisconsin! I love the exotic birds there, but especially love the photo of the Limpkin against that flowering shrub. Just beautiful! xo

Hello,
Florida is just amazing!
Beautiful shots of those birds!
I was saying to someone that I was amazed that they are direct descendants of cannivore dinosaurs and just a few monts ago I found out that some paleontologists discoverd some velociraptors fossils and there were feathers impressions!!! Meaning that velociraptors wore feathers!
Have a nice day

I never heard of a Limpkin. Thought it might be a young Sandhill Crane... we had a family of them visit us when we were at our timeshare in Kissimmee. Great pictures as always!

I remember the first time I ever went to Florida and Limpkin was high on my wish list. I thought I would have to search extensively but I visited the home of birders I had met in Arizona and there were two Limpkin on a local pond where they lived. Go figure!
