Around the Yard, April 2019

Hello, Happy Monday!

I am sharing some blooms and birds from our yard. Spring has really sprung, blossoms and plants are blooming. As of April 22nd I am still seeing a mix of winter and spring birds.  The Great Blue Herons nesting nearby are always a treat to watch. I am happy to see my hummingbirds back in the yard and nesting nearby.

The Ruby-throated Hummingbird sitting in the tree watching a squirrel above him.

Blooms and blossoms around the yard. The Redbud tree is looking beautiful. I love the Bleeding Heart plant.

Some of my yard birds: The Pine Siskin, American Goldfinch, Purple Finch and White-breasted Nuthatch. Not in the photos but I am seeing the Red-breasted Nuthatch, White-throated Sparrows and even a Dark-eyed Junco both winter birds for me. They must like my yard.

A squirrel high in the tree eating seeds or something?

A pretty sky day, love the puffy white clouds and the redbud tree.

I can watch the Great Blue Herons nest from my kitchen window, our deck and driveway.

I have a pair of Pine Warblers that visit my feeders daily.

Thanks for your visit today!  I hope you enjoyed my post and photos.

Happy Monday to you too, Eileen. I am very happy to note that your Ruby-throated Hummingbirds are back. This means that ours can't be far behind. I hope that the weather warms up for them.

Hej Eileen!

/Gunilla

Redbud trees are just gorgeous. My youngest son lives in WV and when we visit him in the Spring, the forest is dotted with these trees in full bloom! Beautiful!

Beautiful photos, Eileen! I love your red bud tree and the first hummingbird of the season. I'm glad the squirrel is eating a tree seed and not your bird feeder seeds.

Thank you for the tour of Spring budding out at your place. The redbuds are so exquisite. So many pretty birds. The herons are particularly fascinating to me as I’ve never seen them in a nest before.

Beautiful pictures Eileen ...the hummer looking up is priceless! Is that squirrel stretching up there the one he had his eye on? Your yard is a wonder!

My grandmother and mother both grew Bleeding Hearts so they always remind of both of them. No Hummingbirds have ventured up here yet!

Thanks for sharing your lovely garden. Spring is certainly a lovely time of year either in the northern hemisphere or down here in the south.

Eileen - your posts always bring joy to my heart, with flowers and birds and other interesting topics. My neighbors are telling me it is time to put out the hummingbird feeders, but I can't quite get my head around that when nothing is blooming? I love bleeding heart plants - maybe I should consider getting one for our garden! I was delighted this week to see a male/female evening grosbeak at the feeders, but they have not returned while I have been watching … Thanks for linking your joyful post to Mosaic Monday.

Hi Eileen, Wow, I love the area around your home! I do admire your location. That 3rd pic reminds me of a squirrel I saw in a tree at Green Lake this morning. Those little critters can be endlessly fascinating. Eileen, I wonder ... How long have you been interested in birding? and, Do you keep a life list? Hope you have a happy day and rest of the week. John

Enjoy your birds. We had to remove our feeders the other day as a neighborhood Bear has come back and he ripped down one of the feeders and rolled a very big and heavy boulder down our garden. The boulder is so heavy my Hubby can't even roll it, he has to slide it a bit at a time.

Wonderful photos, Eileen! Sweet hummer and I never get tired of seeing herons, either!

Hello, I do have a life list of my birds. Sad to say, I have not added to my list recently. I have to travel somewhere new to see new birds. I think my list goes back as far as my blog 2009. Thanks for the comment and visit.

Hello Eileen
I think anyway that there are much nicer birds in you than us. The birds with you always have beautiful colors and you also show various beautiful birds. I didn't know that you had hummingbirds in your own garden !!! So cool to have hummingbirds in your own garden wow .....
I also saw a cute squirrel in the tree. This is really really enjoying.
Greetings, Helma
