Happy Thankful Thursday
This is my last post on our Florida trip in January 2019. We saw some new places and a few repeat places we enjoyed from previous trips. On this last full day after leaving Key Largo we drove to the Everglades National Park. Our visit happened during the government shutdown but this park was open partially. We visited the Flamingo area of the park, which is the most southernmost part of the Everglades National Park.
The Flamingo area of the Everglades offers boat rides and tours. I like the sky and reflections of the clouds.
A nearby Osprey nest.
A Brown Pelican sitting on the dock.
The White Ibis with a pretty blue sky.
A view of the Florida Bay and gulf coast.
We were happy to see a few Manatees around the boat docks.
This was a small baby manatee off to the side, he/she looked a little sick to me.
A sandbar out in the distance held lots of shorebirds, Osprey, Egrets and Herons.
A Little Blue Heron with a Great Egret. It is hard to tell where the water ends and the sky begins.
Below are a group of Snowy Egrets, a alligator that was making growling noises, Green Heron, Brown Pelican and another Osprey.
I am thankful for all things nature related.
I am thankful for clear and sunny days.
I am thankful for all your visits and comments.
Thank you Michelle for hosting Thankful Thursday.
Thank you to Yogi the host of Skywatch Friday

Hello,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful images from Florida. USA have many different climazones. It must be strange to watch at a aligathor. I'm so glad they don't live here :)
Happy Thursday!
Maravilha!! Adorei o ninho lá no alto da árvore! Beleza! beijos, ótimo dia! chica
ReplyDeleteBarbara Manatee! (If you don't know this song, trust me, go look it up on You Tube. Adorable!)
ReplyDelete...the first images is gorgeous, have a happy day!
ReplyDeleteI really like manatees. I've never seen one, though. I've led a sheltered life!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos.
The sleepy pelican photo is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI am watching for the return of the osprey to our boardwalk area. Amazing creatures.
ReplyDeleteAwesome look at the Flamingo area. The manatee is so much bigger in real life than I thought they were. I got the white crowned pigeon there too which was a huge treat and a surprise,,,it appeared on the board in the visitors center and I went to look for it and found it.
ReplyDeleteWonderful bay area and pretty blue sky! Loved the reflection on first shot and napping brown pelican… the manatee seems to look out for compassion
ReplyDeleteDon't you think Pelican's always have that rather 'we've got life all under control' look about them? I guess it's that huge beak, that makes the livin' easy! Lovely pictures Eileen.

Wow! Such beautiful nature pictures. I love Everglades National Park. When I was a high school teacher, we used to take field trips there to do some science-based activities. The kids learned about the environment and had some fun at the same time. Win-win!
ReplyDeleteYou saw such a nice variety of wildlife and birds! It's neat to see the Manatee...hope the little one is ok! Love your photos this morning. We hiked at Blue Run yesterday and it was teeming with birds...lots of tweety birds in the trees too! Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteHow lovely your birds (and animals) are...and you've got a good eye and quick shutter to capture them all. Hve a great day, and thanks for stopping by my blogs.
ReplyDeleteSuch fabulously serene shots.
ReplyDeleteSuch wonderful pictures! I think Flamingo is the best part of the Everglades for wildlife viewing...I hope we can go back someday, we camped there when we had the Roadtrek here in Florida, but we’ve been flying the last few years. ....the alligator was either in breeding time or already had babies; that is when they growl!
ReplyDeleteLoved that invisible horizon shot. :]
ReplyDeleteI love Manatee, they are cuddlesome.
ReplyDeleteNice shots of many critters. The pelican is funny...
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
Have a nice afternoon!
i am sad to see florida go, it has been a beautiful "escape" for me!! the first picture is especially beautiful, the clouds reflecting on the water is so special. i also enjoy seeing pelicans and manatees, because we don't see them here. what is it about the manatees that we are all so drawn to?? they just seem so gentle and peaceful i suppose!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat great shots Eileen. I have never been to Florida and probably never will. It is so different than our rocky coast but birds are the same everywhere. Well you know what I mean
