Hello & Happy Thankful Thursday!
Wishing everyone a 💕 Happy Valentine's Day 💕 !
I hope everyone has reasons to be grateful and thankful, I am always thankful for the little things. One of the little things is to hear the Cardinal singing outside my window. He is a happy bird to be singing so often and so loudly. Slow down and enjoy the simple pleasures in life.
The male and some what hidden female Cardinal. These two are daily visitors to my feeders.
"My wish is to stay always like this, living quietly in a corner of nature." Claude Monet
Sunrise seen from my kitchen window.
A raptor seen in the woods across from our driveway, it was a big hawk. I am guessing a Red-Shouldered Hawk?
It was a cloudy day, as you can see the sky behind the hawk. I think I am getting used to cloudy skies lately.
I am thankful for our local libraries and to be able to download library ebooks from the app called OverDrive.
My most recent books I have read are:
The Whisper Man by Alex North
A Share in Death ( 1st in the Duncan Kincaid series) by Deborah Crombie
The Mummy Case (3rd in the Amelia Peabody series) by Elizabeth Peters.
I am now starting The Grave Talent (1st in Kate Martinelli series) by Laurie R. King.
If you truly love nature, you will find beauty everywhere..I am thankful for the beauty of nature!
I am thankful for my hubby, he is my 💕 Valentine.
I am always thankful for your visit and comments.
Live simple and be happy! 😊
Thank you Michelle for hosting Thankful Thursday.

ReplyDeleteWhat a prett raptor - not familiar with Red-shouldered Hawk, but images elsewhere suggest your ID to be correct. And is a Cardinal to be beaten for giving 'eye candy'??? YAM xx
Hello Yam, The Cardinals are pretty eye candy. Thank you for the visit and comment. Wishing you a happy day!
DeleteHello Eileen,
ReplyDeleteThe Hawk is very beautiful! I wish I could see it in nature. Very nice photos.

ReplyDeleteThank you Chica! Happy Valentine's Day! Wishing you a happy day!
DeleteWe were just talking yesterday about cardinals starting to sing as we looked at a very handsome male in the backyard. They usually strike up their chorus around the end of February or early March so we don't have long to wait now. This year is marching on!
ReplyDeleteHello David, thank you for the visit and comment. Wishing you a happy day!
DeleteYour hawk photos are neat -- I love when they swivel their heads so far that you think they are turning their back.

ReplyDeleteThanks Bob! Wishing you a happy day!
DeleteWhat a gorgeous hawk! And it's nice to be thankful for even the small things in life. I love seeing what you are reading on goodreads. The Mummy is SO good! I read a bunch of that series in a row until I was about burned out but it is GOOD! Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteHello, Diane
DeleteI have read 3 by Peters, I can see getting burned out reading all the series. I like keeping track of what I read on Goodreads, I often find new books from you too. Happy Valentine's Day! Wishing you a happy day!
Beautiful birds! Could that be a Cooper's hawk? Have a lovely V-day tomorrow and thank you for stopping by~
ReplyDeleteHello, thanks Nancy! It looked too big to be a Cooper's Hawk! Wishing you a happy day and a great weekend!
DeleteGreat bird photos. Hawk is not interested in your seeing him apparently. I've enjoyed Laurie R King's series of Sherlock's wife (kind of spoof of all mysteries but well done). Will have to check out this other series of hers.
ReplyDeleteHello Barbara, I just found King's books and I have the Sherlock on hold at the library. Thanks for the visit and comment. Wishing you a happy day!
DeleteSimple Yet Stunning Photos - Well Done
ReplyDeleteCheers
Thanks for the visit and comment. Enjoy your day!
Deletei see the mrs., that pop of orange, hiding among the branches!! it is really hawk season, i have several around here, trying to get my song birds!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Debbie! I think my female cardinals are a little more shy than the males. I can usually tell when a hawk is around, the birds disappear. Thanks for the visit and comment. Enjoy your day, wishing you a great weekend.
Delete...a cardinal is always a wonderful sight and even nicer for Valentione's Day. Have a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteThanks Tom! Enjoy your day, wishing you a great weekend.
DeleteFabulous shots. Love that cardinal.
ReplyDeleteHello, thanks for the visit and comment. Enjoy your day, wishing you a great weekend.
DeleteI am impressed you know what kind of hawk that is, I still don't know my hawks from my falcons (I feel we may have talked about his before). There are so many raptors of some kind on top of the street lights on highways, do you see that too?
ReplyDeleteLovely sunrise. I'm still grateful the Polar Vortex didn't come back and the Brewers have reported for spring training. I feel spring in the air even though my weather app said 8˚ this morning.
Hello Jeanna, I just guessed at this hawk's id. I could be wrong. I think we also will be having those colder temps tomorrow and on the weekend. Thanks for the visit and comment. Enjoy your day, wishing you a great weekend.
DeleteSpectacular captures of the amazing birds and that sunrise is simply gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI'm thankful too.

DeleteThe hawk is magnificent. I see so many here in Oklahoma perched on branches looking for lunch. They are beautiful. Cardinals are so beautiful and very hard to photograph (for me). They are very cautious in the wild so one has be patient and ready.

ReplyDeleteAnd the pink sunrise from your window.
Wonderful pictures - especially love the Hawk!
ReplyDeleteWonderful captures of the hawk. He does look like a big one! I wonder if I can get ebooks from my local library? I'll have to check into that. Happy Valentine's Day and happy weekend!

Great photos good for comparison. I hope you had a great valentines day I spent mine checking out some of my favorite bird spots, and doing a Backyard bird count also. Have a great weekend.
The pink sky behind the lacy trees is wonderful! Nice to have Mr and Mrs Cardinal as regular visitors!
ReplyDeleteI love the cardinal's bright red, and you got great photos of them. Happy Valentine's Day!
ReplyDeleteWe don't normally celebrate Valentines day, we look after each other throughout the year, bet you get some lovely skies from your window.
