Saturday's Critters # 353

Welcome to Saturday's Critters!

Hello and happy Saturday!

If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

In past years I have seen many migrating warblers in my back yard, they love the berries on the Devils Walking Stick tree.  Here are some of the birds I have seen. Sorry the photos are not great, they were all taken through my dining room or kitchen windows.

Sept 12, 2020 Cape May Warblers,  top photo is most likely a juvenile, the bottom photo could be the female.

The breeding female Cape May Warbler has the yellow on the cheeks and mixed with the chest stripes.

Sept 12th, Scarlet Tanager, female or possibly the 1st year male.

The Scarlet Tanager, yellow with black wing bars.

Another Warbler seen on Sept 12th, I believe it is the Tennessee Warbler.

I missed going to the shore to see the migrating shore birds but I was able to enjoy seeing the fall migrant warblers right in my back yard and on the local fire road near my home.

Thanks to all my visitors and for all the wonderful comments. Stop back to see any replies to your comments. I appreciate everyone who loves critters and has linked up their critter post.

The Devils Walking stick tree seems to be a favorite with the birds. I haven't noticed any migrating birds in my gardens so far, although maybe the smallness of my yard makes a difference. Love the photos.

Like the birds, I am also attracted by the berries. Are they edible? I would love to be able to see them feeding on the berries. Have a great weekend.

Stay well. Greetings.

Devils walking stick tree---you must be living dangerously---LOL. The thorns on those trees are nasty. But the birds love the berries. I see the connection.
Have a good weekend

They are all beautiful, and so many different ones, love those varied feathers, late this afternoon we had a flock>? of sparrows on our front lawn, at least 14. The lawn had just been mown, so they were enjoying whatever goodies were there.

Hello Eileen!
Your photos are great. The birds in your yard are so pretty. I have started to feed the birds here, and they are very hungry. I love to watch them. Take care, and have a nice weekend!

These are wonderful photos with the birds in the middle of the berry trees. The different types by age and gender is always interesting.
I wish you a beautiful weekend, hug Elke

The Cape May Warblers have been coming through this past week as well. They do like to eat berries. Nice Scarlet Tanager. So far this season I have only seen a Summer Tanager.

Nice captures of the birds. Even taken through your windows, the photos look great. Have a lovely day and weekend. Take care, stay safe and thanks for hosting.

beautiful species all three of them.
It is quite intersting to see features like the yellow and stripes on your Cape May Warbler. She could be a mixture of two of our birds :)
Take care. And have a great week ahead.

I’d love to hear the songs of those warblers. I’ve never seen a tanager in nature. Thank you for sharing.

...the berries on the Devil's Walking Stick tree sure attract to birds to natural feeding station! Thanks Eileen for hosting, enjoy your upcoming week.

Good to see those Cape May Warblers, Eileen. It's a species that seems to have declined in recent years, but so many others have too. It is heartbreaking what we are inflicting on the planet and its wildlife. By any reasonable, credible scientific report, you can read we are heading towards environmental Armageddon, yet we keep pouring gasoline on the fire, and Trump says he doesn't think scientists know what they are talking about.

Super birds! Do you get the western tanagers in your area? They are black & yellow also (but have a rosy top). Have a great weekend dear Eileen!

I echo Ellen's comment...how fortunate to spy these sweet birds from your window, Eileen. I feel so blessed to be able to do the same though I've yet to see a warbler. My SIL has told me he's seen them there while at the pool so I know they are around. This keeps me on the lookout!

You are so fortunate to have these Warblers and Tanager near you Eileen. The birds must have been terrified during the recent hurricanes in FL, don't you think? When we had high winds and the hurricane through our way, I worried about all my "back-yarders"...jp

Sondra said...

You hit the warbler jackpot..how awesome. The berries on the Walking Stick remind me of polk berry. It's a wonderful source of food for the migrants imagine a long flight with a delicious rest stop in your backyard.

Such cute little birds. It's amazing how many varieties there are in the world and how many different varieties you get in your back yard. I finally purchased another bird feeder because the one I had is hard to clean all the mold that accumulates over the winter rains. I've heard that mold is toxic for birds just like humans. Sad to say my new bird feeder had a crack in it so I have to return it and get another one. I already have the birds seeds ready to go. I'm hoping that maybe I can get more birds on my bushes and be able to capture and share in this space. Have a wonderful weekend.

Greetings Eileen, love the pictures we have some of those type of birds. Our resident male black bear has been visiting but comes at night so it is impossible to take a picture of a 250 pound totally black bear.
