Welcome to Saturday's Critters!
Hello and happy Saturday!
If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!
In past years I have seen many migrating warblers in my back yard, they love the berries on the Devils Walking Stick tree. Here are some of the birds I have seen. Sorry the photos are not great, they were all taken through my dining room or kitchen windows.
I missed going to the shore to see the migrating shore birds but I was able to enjoy seeing the fall migrant warblers right in my back yard and on the local fire road near my home.
Thanks to all my visitors and for all the wonderful comments. Stop back to see any replies to your comments. I appreciate everyone who loves critters and has linked up their critter post.

Sept 12, 2020 Cape May Warblers, top photo is most likely a juvenile, the bottom photo could be the female.
Sept 12th, Scarlet Tanager, female or possibly the 1st year male.
The Scarlet Tanager, yellow with black wing bars.
Another Warbler seen on Sept 12th, I believe it is the Tennessee Warbler.

The Devils Walking stick tree seems to be a favorite with the birds. I haven't noticed any migrating birds in my gardens so far, although maybe the smallness of my yard makes a difference. Love the photos.
ReplyDeleteHello Yvonne,
DeleteThank you for the visit and comment!
Take care, enjoy your day!
Like the birds, I am also attracted by the berries. Are they edible? I would love to be able to see them feeding on the berries. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you Nancy!

Awesome birds photos.
ReplyDeleteStay well. Greetings.
Thank you!

Devils walking stick tree---you must be living dangerously---LOL. The thorns on those trees are nasty. But the birds love the berries. I see the connection.
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend
MB
DeleteThank you MB! These plants seem to spread from the nearby forest. We have them in various places around our yard. Yes, I am happy that the birds love these plant's and their berries.
Take care, enjoy your day!
They are all beautiful, and so many different ones, love those varied feathers, late this afternoon we had a flock>? of sparrows on our front lawn, at least 14. The lawn had just been mown, so they were enjoying whatever goodies were there.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jean! Fresh cut grass seems to attract the birds.
DeleteTake care, enjoy your day!
You are teaching us to identify birds! Cape May Warbler!

beautiful species all three of them.
ReplyDeleteIt is quite intersting to see features like the yellow and stripes on your Cape May Warbler. She could be a mixture of two of our birds :)

Happy weekend to you!
Good to see those Cape May Warblers, Eileen. It's a species that seems to have declined in recent years, but so many others have too. It is heartbreaking what we are inflicting on the planet and its wildlife. By any reasonable, credible scientific report, you can read we are heading towards environmental Armageddon, yet we keep pouring gasoline on the fire, and Trump says he doesn't think scientists know what they are talking about.
ReplyDeleteThank you David!
DeleteThe truth is, Science is real.

I echo Ellen's comment...how fortunate to spy these sweet birds from your window, Eileen. I feel so blessed to be able to do the same though I've yet to see a warbler. My SIL has told me he's seen them there while at the pool so I know they are around. This keeps me on the lookout!

ReplyDeleteThank you Jo! I am always happy to see you linking up your critters.
DeleteTake care, enjoy your day! Wishing you a great new week!
You are so fortunate to have these Warblers and Tanager near you Eileen. The birds must have been terrified during the recent hurricanes in FL, don't you think? When we had high winds and the hurricane through our way, I worried about all my "back-yarders"...jp
ReplyDeleteThank you JP! I would think the birds have to deal with hurricanes every year.
DeleteTake care, enjoy your day! Have a great new week!
You hit the warbler jackpot..how awesome. The berries on the Walking Stick remind me of polk berry. It's a wonderful source of food for the migrants imagine a long flight with a delicious rest stop in your backyard.

Such cute little birds. It's amazing how many varieties there are in the world and how many different varieties you get in your back yard. I finally purchased another bird feeder because the one I had is hard to clean all the mold that accumulates over the winter rains. I've heard that mold is toxic for birds just like humans. Sad to say my new bird feeder had a crack in it so I have to return it and get another one. I already have the birds seeds ready to go. I'm hoping that maybe I can get more birds on my bushes and be able to capture and share in this space. Have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you Penny! I was cleaning and refilling my feeders every day or so.
DeleteThe squirrels keep breaking my feeders.
Take care, enjoy your day! Have a great new week!
The warblers are so pretty.
ReplyDeleteOur little goldfinch is back. He was in the bush right under the office window. He was there last winter too. I'm hoping he will stick around for awhile.
Thank you Dee! I have not seen my goldfinches for a few days or more.

Greetings Eileen, love the pictures we have some of those type of birds. Our resident male black bear has been visiting but comes at night so it is impossible to take a picture of a 250 pound totally black bear.

What a great variety of birds! I often find myself taking photos through our backdoor so as not to scare away birds. Hope you are having a terrific weekend!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jean! Take care, enjoy your day! Have a happy new week!
DeleteI have a red currant on my front deck that has had red berries on it since July. I've been surprised that no birds have ever come to eat them. How are you doing with the new Blogger. This was my first post and it was horrible for me to write and edit. - Margy
ReplyDeleteThanks Margy! The birds usually love the berries. The new blogger can be a pain to work with, sizing and spacing is much harder. Take care, enjoy your day! Have a happy new week!
DeleteHi Eileen - Not sure if my comment made it to you. If it did, sorry for the repeat. Having lots of challenges with the new Blogger. How are you making out with writing and editing posts? - Margy
