Saturday's Critters # 393

Welcome to Saturday's Critters!

Hello and happy Saturday!

If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

Lately I only have my hummingbirds feeders up, so I am not sharing many photos of birds at feeders.  Recently I've been seeing and hearing a Gray Catbird banging on our front windows. It has been hanging around the front Rhododendrons, there must be plenty of bugs for the birds to eat. We also have blueberry bushes that all the wildlife seem to enjoy eating.

1.  Gray Catbird seeing it's reflection in our windows.

2. The Gray Catbird posed for me, I was standing  inside at my window.

3. The Gray Catbird is in the Thrush family. It is slaty gray with a dark crown and has a rusty undertail.

4. Another shot of the Gray Catbird.  One evening the Catbird was making a lot of noises, I looked out my bedroom window and a Screech Owl was sitting in the rhododendron, the Catbird and a Cardinal were fussing until the Owl flew away. I wondered if it was the same Screech Owl I have seen previously in our yard.

5. The American Goldfinch, one day I saw them picking at the clematis that were done blooming. The male Goldfinch looks bright and beautiful in the breeding and summer season.

6. A Fritillary butterfly on our Bee Balm.

7. I've been seeing deer in our yard and on the neighbor's driveway just about every day.

I have been hearing more birds from my yard than I am actually seeing, I am wondering what the birds think about all the cicadas we have flying about. From my yard, I can hear the Eastern Wood PeWee,  Eastern Phoebe, Wood Thrush, Ovenbird, Scarlet Tanager, Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher, Northern Parula, Pine Warbler, Northern Cardinals, Chickadee, Yellow-billed Cuckoo and the Tufted Titmouse.

I am also linking up to Anni's blog party found here I'd Rather B Birding   Anni always has some beautiful birds to be seen on her blog, check it out!

Thanks to all my visitors and for your comments. Stop back to see any replies to your comments. I appreciate everyone who loves critters and has linked up their critter post.

  7. Hi Eileen, I really wish I had a garden like yours. Being able to see the wildlife from "the comfort of your own home". :) The deer is such a sweet one. And having a converstion with the Gray Catbird is wodnerful.
I have not seen much deers lately. To hot for everybody and the females dissappeared. I have no clue of where they are. I was hoping to be able to see some fawn, but no. It was the same last year, no females in June :(
Now I´m going to visit my daughter.

    1. Thank you Jocelyn! I have been on many bird walks, the walks and experts usually help with id-ing the bird sounds.
I took the feeders down awhile back, it has been a few months. We were having too many squirrels hanging on the feeders. Some critter did damage to our car a few times, ate part of the gas line, tank and wires. We have plenty of berries, plants and trees for the birds. Have a great weekend.

  41. Those are fun shots of the Grey Catbird. It took it a while to realise that here was a mirror image rather than another catbird. The Goldfinch is a beautiful shade of yellow and I imagine that it's one of your favourite garden birds Eileen. We don't have blueberries but our garden cherries get eaten very quickly before we can make a pie. I didn't know a gray catbird so far. How nice that you were able to watch it so well and often. The goldfinch glows beautifully yellow! We don't have any fritillary butterflies either, at least I've never seen one like this. It's wonderful that the Deer is so close to your house! So many great critters sightings again! I also brought some animal photos for you.

  59. Hi Eileen! I am late getting around to my comment. No worries if you don't have time to reply. You have probably heard about our "historic" heat wave. Today, Sunday, is the second day in a row I've recorded over 100 degrees here at home. Not a big deal if you have A/C but about 2/3 of Seattle residents don't. I'm drinking a lot of iced tea and staying in one room where we have one of those portable A/Cs. One more day to go and then they say we'll be back to just normal heat. :-) As always, I enjoyed all your photos in this Saturday's Critters. Lots of bloggers linked up! You do a great job with Saturday's Critters ... thanks Eileen! Hope you have a happy week ahead. John
