Welcome to Saturday's Critters!
Hello and happy Saturday!
If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!
A variety of photos and critters from our daily walks.
1. July 18th, the fire roads are like an obstacle course having to climb over fallen trees from a recent storm, at the lake we saw the usual Belted Kingfisher, a Great Blue Heron flying away and the Canada Geese. Of course the grand-dogs are with us on our walk.
2. July 19th, hubby and I hiked close to 3 miles on the NCR bike trail. Near the parking area we saw lots of Bee Balm and along the trail were blooming Hostas.
3. July 19th NCR trail, I always hear more birds than I can actually see, but we did have a good sighting of a Great Blue Heron.
4. July 19th, back at home I watched a few birds come for the peanuts I put out on my deck railing. Below are the Blue Jay, Red-bellied Woodpecker and a Tufted Titmouse.
5. July 19th A Tufted Titmouse sunning or anting? I see 5-6 Tufted Titmouse coming and going grabbing a peanut.
6. July 20th, a few of my backyard birds stopping by for some peanuts. The Blue Jay, Tufted Titmouse, the Gray Catbird practically lives in our blueberry bushes.
7. July 21, on our backyard Buddleia, butterfly bush is the Eastern Tiger Swallowtail and the Hummingbird Moth.
8. July 24th, hubby and I are still taking our morning walks, bird sightings have slowed quite a bit. I do hear birds but they are hidden in the trees. I have some images of a Goldfinch taking some dog hair for it's nest and the butterflies on the Buddleia.
9. July 24th, An Eastern Tiger Swallowtail at the butterfly bush.
10. July 24th , the American Goldfinch was taking Nibble's dog hair. I assume they are working on a nest. It seems kind late in the summer for the nesting, maybe a second brood.
Thank you for sharing your critters and post!

You are surrounded by beauty. I like your home birds. Best, Eileen!
Another great post, Beautiful pics.
Greetings. Thanks a lot for hosting. Happy Weekend.
Lovely collages from your hikes with the grand-dogs. Nice to see the Tufted Titmouse sunning or anting. Last week I saw a dove sunning on my neighbour's awning through my window. The dog hair will make soft and comfortable nest for the baby chicks. Thank you for hosting and have a great weekend.
Some really nice pictures this week. I particularly like the shot of the Tufted Titmouse with wings spread out. Also, the Eastern Tiger Swallowtail pics are lovely. Pop-pop sounds fun, would be nice to hear Mason and Wyatt call him.
Thank you for sharing all the beautiful critters. The Swallowtail is particularly charming.
Love the sunning/anting Titmouse.🥰
Best wishes for your son's new home.
All the best!
I am so glad to go walking with you. So many treats to see. And the photos of Mason and Wyatt are adorable, and lovely to meet Pop-Pop too. Sweet photos to be sure.
Hi Eileen,
These are beautiful collages and photos.
I really like the Belted Kingfisher and the Blue Jay.
Enjoy your children and grandchildren, it can also be different, we have had no contact at all with our son for more than 4 years.
Would you mind posting my link??
I wish you a nice weekend.
Greetings Irma
Good morning, Lovely photos we had birds laying on the deck floor like that too so I had to google it-said they were sun bathing haha never noticed birds doing that before. Happy weekend

I was going to elect the sunning birdy as my fave today - then saw that you store the dog hair as a takeaway for nesters and that won my admiration! (Who am I kidding, I love all your shots bringing us to you...) YAM xx
Mason and Wyatt are so adorable!! On our daily walk, we usually just heard the birds...hardly see them.
The blue jays are particularly photogenic.
Great photos!
Have a blessed day and a wonderful weekend!
Dearest Eileen, I'm amazed at how many flowers you have in your forest - that looks fantastic colorful!
It's the same way with me: I hear more birds than I can see - and unfortunately I don't have the knowledge to recognize many birds by their singing. (I must have moved to the country too late. But I try to learn more...)
It was a pleasure to accompany you and the granddogs again.
How nice to see photos of Mason and Wyatt again - the two cuties! <3
Happy weekend and all the best

American Goldfinch is right on schedule. This species tends breed in late July/ early August when the thistle seeds are at their peak - preferred food for its young.
Lovely critters, all! Some of our birds seem to be nesting again. They are far fewer, though. I love nesting season. Thanks for hosting. Such sweet grandies!
Delightful photos of grand-creatures, especially that little human. As is your experience, I am hearing many more birds than I see, thanks to the heavy summer foliage-- quite different from the more open grasslands and woody patches in Florida. You gave me a great idea to put my suet feeder to use by collecting the blown coats of the Tibetan Mastiffs. I fear that the goldfinches are already finishing up their nest construction but will try anyway.
...Pop-Pop sure looks like a happy man! Thanks Eileen for hosting, enjoy a wonderful weekend.
Quantas coisas lindas que vocês encontram nas caminhadas!
Coisa boa de ver!
Lindas fotos!
Adorei! beijos, chica
Hello Eileen. It's good to hear that the storm passed without doing too much damage. Fallen trees can be good for wildlife until do-gooders "tidy them up". Good to see the Goldfinch doing the housework and to see Pop-Pop enjoying the grands and the grands enjoying Pop-Pop. Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for the link up.
Thank you Chica!

Now there are apps to identify birds by sound. Our group identifies twice as many birds as before and only see half as many birds because the app identifies birds for us. I'm not sure I like the help of the app. I'm still one of the old time birders who likes to see the bird.
Like the great blue heron wading in the water and great shot of the bluejay.
Nice to see PopPop and the wee ones.
Thanks Red! I would much rather see the bird although hearing their songs are nice. Take care, enjoy your weekend!
Thank you Karen! Take care, have a happy weekend.
It seems like most of the birds here are are hiding out in the trees too. I guess it is cooler for them. It is always a treat to see your grandkids, Eileen.
Beautiful photos Eileen of the birds. Nice dogs. Your grandsons are very handsome.
Glad to see you're keeping up with your walks....so cool seeing the Finch grab a wad of hair he def has something in mind for it.

Hi Eileen
Happy month of August--only one animal photo in my post but glad to hook up. I loved seeing your wonderful photos of all the variety of birds where you are. We sometimes see blue jays here and lately the hummingbirds have shown up but are too fast for my camera lens.
Pop Pop looks very happy enjoying the cute the grandboys! Congratulations to your son and daughter in law on their new home.
Have a wonderful week ahead!
Such a sweet collage of Pop Pop, Mason and Wyatt. Love the variety of your backyard birds!

I have seen crows plucking hair from one of our dogs to make cushions for their nest. It's great that you collected your dog's hair and placed it on the bird feeder for them to easily extract. Lovely photos of birds and flowers from your walks, as usual. I love your grandchildren. Have a nice week
Thank you Jeevan! I like knowing the dog's hair was put to good use. Take care, have a happy new week!

Thank you so much for the comment. Take care, have a happy new week!
Ana
Thank you Ana! I appreciate your visit and comment. I hope your Mother has recovered from Covid. I hope you have some much needed rain, the drought and hot weather can be awful. Take care, have a happy new week!
You are indeed a friend of all things nature, birds, flowers, and shrubs. I had never thought of putting our extra hair out for birds to build their nest. What a great idea. It looks like you have your grand dogs around for a little while longer. I love your butterflies, and the plants they are using. I'm still amazed about the great variety of birds you find every week.
Thank you for hosting and have a great week!!
You have *so* much beauty there! thank you.
Thank you Alan! The birds do like using the dog hair for their nest, must make the nest nice and comfy. Take care, enjoy your new week!
Thank you Andee! Have a great new week!
You must have feet and legs of steel! I wish mine would take me so far. The birds are great but I'm really crushing on the butterflies and blooms!
I am delighted to go walking with you, Eileen.
Such lovely photos of the birds and flowers you captured.
Happy Monday!
Thank you Jeanie! I do love seeing all the butterflies in our yard, they do love the butterfly bush. Take care, have a great new week!
Thank you Veronica! Take care, have a great new week!
Haha ... you expected the pets to soon leave but instead beautiful grandchildren were added to the household temporarily. What a delightful shot of the family! You are very fortunate, indeed!

The Swallowtail on that flowering plant is a perfect picture. I loved all the birds especially the goldfinch using the dog hair for her nest! So sweet. The fire-road "obstacle course" sounds like it would really be some heavy exercise to walk right now.
Thank you Maria! We do love our grandsons. Have a great day and happy week ahead.
Hello Carol, I hope you are feeling better. Thank you for the visit and comment. Take care, have a great week!
Thank you Sallie! The crews have been around and cleared all the fire roads, they had a lot of trees to move.
Have a great day and happy new week!
