White Pelican for Camera Critters

You can click on picture for a larger image, Scenic Sunday pic's follow my critters.

During my trip to the Tetons and Yellowstone National parks I was able to do a lot of birding. I saw the White Pelican in various spots in both parks. I saw a large group of the White Pelicans on the Snake river while doing a float rafting trip. The White Pelican seemed to be very common in both parks.

This White Pelican was seen in the Tetons at Owbow Bend. To see more Camera critters from all around please click on my critter link.

This Osprey was seen near the Old Faithful Boardwalk loop.

The Mountain Bluebird was seen in many places in the parks.

The Raven is another bird common to the parks.

Finally a lifer for me was this Grouse seen in the Tetons on the road to Signal Mountain.

I hope everyone enjoys my Yellowstone and Tetons birds for the camera critter meme. Also thanks to the host Misty Dawn of Camera Critters for making this all happen. I really enjoy seeing everyone's critters.

  1. Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a nice comment about my photos.

I admire your knowledge of birds and I know you must have patience while waiting to photograph some of them. My grandson and I had a fun time looking at all of your bird photos. He liked the "woof" (dog) too.

  2. I love the grouse - something I haven't seen. Nice "fan" of the tail and you don't usually get a rear view in the bird books!

  5. You got some great photo opportunities. I'll bet there are very few people who visit Old Faithful that come home with photos of a bird along the path to the geyser. Good for you!

  6. Nice pics. I'm originally from California, and although I've seen pelicans away from the ocean before, I'm always surprised. I have a camera critter up, also.

  18. Great post and terrific photos. Martha and I also love the Yellowstone area.

    To answer your question:

Sorry, I forgot to put the location of the Gator.
We saw him/her at Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge.

Unfortunately most of the gators were wiped out with the ocean surge of salt water during hurricane Ike.

The nearby town of Anahuac has a Gator fest. 13 footers have been recorded there. This one may have been that long, but I couldn't get a good estimate because the end of the tail was hidden.

  20. Beautiful bird pictures-- I particularly like the peaceful pelican with his reflection in the water. Very lovely. I would love to go birding myself, but my two little girls are a little young to stay still and quiet for long... all I get to see up close are the ducks we throw bread to!

  51. The sage grouse strutting/displaying on the road is hilarious. Normally we think of bear jams! Pelicans have become common on our western rivers over the past decade or so--maybe like eagles they were the victim of DDT?

  52. Wonderful photos. The osprey is beautiful. I think I like that one best.

  63. I agree with everyone else, and this page makes me jealous. So many beautiful birds are caught on film, and to see these while never having been to Yellowstone or any park of that stature, It makes me want to go right now. But honestly, this is a great blog and I love stopping by to see what new snapshots are up.Hopefully one day I will be able to send pictures that I took of Yellowstone back to you.
