During my trip to the Tetons and Yellowstone National parks I was able to do a lot of birding. I saw the White Pelican in various spots in both parks. I saw a large group of the White Pelicans on the Snake river while doing a float rafting trip. The White Pelican seemed to be very common in both parks.
This White Pelican was seen in the Tetons at Owbow Bend. To see more Camera critters from all around please click on my critter link.
This Osprey was seen near the Old Faithful Boardwalk loop.
The Mountain Bluebird was seen in many places in the parks.
The Raven is another bird common to the parks.
Finally a lifer for me was this Grouse seen in the Tetons on the road to Signal Mountain.
I hope everyone enjoys my Yellowstone and Tetons birds for the camera critter meme. Also thanks to the host Misty Dawn of Camera Critters for making this all happen. I really enjoy seeing everyone's critters.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a nice comment about my photos.
ReplyDeleteI admire your knowledge of birds and I know you must have patience while waiting to photograph some of them. My grandson and I had a fun time looking at all of your bird photos. He liked the "woof" (dog) too.
I love the grouse - something I haven't seen. Nice "fan" of the tail and you don't usually get a rear view in the bird books!

I like your white pelican, we don't have pelicans here, and the grouse is special too.
ReplyDeleteI love Mr Pelican and the beautiful Osprey. I think birds are so hard to photograph and you've done a great job. I would like to see your photos bgger on your blog.
ReplyDeleteYou got some great photo opportunities. I'll bet there are very few people who visit Old Faithful that come home with photos of a bird along the path to the geyser. Good for you!
ReplyDeleteNice pics. I'm originally from California, and although I've seen pelicans away from the ocean before, I'm always surprised. I have a camera critter up, also.
ReplyDeleteThe pelican looks elegant, and the Osprey very royal. Thank for sharing these eileen. And thanks for visiting and commenting on my blog.

ReplyDeleteI will be at old faithful in a couple of hours, I wonder if I will see this bird. Great set of photos. As are the ones in your previous post, such timing for me to see this!

Great photos, especially of the pelican! I love the great detail and the reflection in tihe water.
ReplyDeleteGreat collection of avian photography!
ReplyDeleteGreat post and terrific photos. Martha and I also love the Yellowstone area.
ReplyDeleteTo answer your question:
Sorry, I forgot to put the location of the Gator.
We saw him/her at Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge.
Unfortunately most of the gators were wiped out with the ocean surge of salt water during hurricane Ike.
The nearby town of Anahuac has a Gator fest. 13 footers have been recorded there. This one may have been that long, but I couldn't get a good estimate because the end of the tail was hidden.
Here's a link. Click here.
Thanks for stopping by,

Wow! Thank you for visiting My Muskoka !
ReplyDeleteAll great shots; but I really like the pelican and the fractured reflections in the water and the shot of the osprey is excellent.
ReplyDeleteLoved your shots of Yellowstone below - beautiful!
Carletta’s Captures.
Beautiful bird pictures-- I particularly like the peaceful pelican with his reflection in the water. Very lovely. I would love to go birding myself, but my two little girls are a little young to stay still and quiet for long... all I get to see up close are the ducks we throw bread to!
ReplyDeleteGreat shot of the grouse - timing is everything!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by Monastery Daily Photo.
I enjoyed your bird.It is beautiful to see them in their natural environment. The grouse looks like hurrying on her way home!
ReplyDeleteEileen: Marvelous critter captures from a neat park.
ReplyDeleteAs you might have noticed from the photos of our foal, I like a photo from a different angle. So I love the grouse. But the most beautiful I thought is the Osprey.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Those are very nice birds, but that first one has a very pointy looking beak!

ReplyDeleteWow! A person who knows how to spell Eileen--and likes Yellowstone and Grand Teton--my favorites. Being able to see The Grand from my window (although not up close)is a blessing. Wandered in from Janie & Steve's Trails. Nice to meet you. Great photos.

Great shot of the Osprey, and congrats on seeing the Grouse. I would love to go out to Yellowstone again sometime. It's such a fascinating and beautiful place.
ReplyDeleteThe sage grouse strutting/displaying on the road is hilarious. Normally we think of bear jams! Pelicans have become common on our western rivers over the past decade or so--maybe like eagles they were the victim of DDT?
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos. The osprey is beautiful. I think I like that one best.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog.
Amazing birds you saw! That is one mean looking osprey! Beautiful shot though! Thanks for stopping by my blog!

ReplyDeleteI agree with everyone else, and this page makes me jealous. So many beautiful birds are caught on film, and to see these while never having been to Yellowstone or any park of that stature, It makes me want to go right now. But honestly, this is a great blog and I love stopping by to see what new snapshots are up.Hopefully one day I will be able to send pictures that I took of Yellowstone back to you.
