Shenandoah birds and wildlife

Last weekend, hubby and I spent all day Sunday on the Skyline Drive in Shenandoah Nat'l Park. We stopped at many of the overlooks and at each overlook I would hear either the Scarlet Tanager or the Indigo Bunting singing. They are both gorgeous birds.

As we made our way to the middle secion of the drive near the Big Meadows we were treated with this cute fawn and the mom. They didn't seem to mind we stopped to watch them.

This spotted fawn look so cute near these yellow grasses.

I haven's seen an Indigo Bunting in a few years. We used to have them along the lane to our home at the farm. Beautiful birds.

  26. You live in such an amazing area to be able to step outside and see so many birds and those deer. We use to have lots of deer here on the island come right up to our windows (they also ate all my flowers) but as a result of more an more home building we see less and less deer now.

  52. These are amazing. To have caught the bird in the act of singing is wonderful. The indigo bunting is so bright. The one that I've seen at my inlaw's home is much darker (perhaps that's because the planter is in a shaded area and that's where we spy the bugger).

  53. SO many lovely critters!!! I especially love the Indigo Bunting!
