Last weekend, hubby and I spent all day Sunday on the Skyline Drive in Shenandoah Nat'l Park. We stopped at many of the overlooks and at each overlook I would hear either the Scarlet Tanager or the Indigo Bunting singing. They are both gorgeous birds.

As we made our way to the middle secion of the drive near the Big Meadows we were treated with this cute fawn and the mom. They didn't seem to mind we stopped to watch them.

A feast for the eyes, Eileen. I just love those back-lit deer ears!
Wow! Really wonderful photos! What a wonderful place to visit!
All are absolutely gorgeous, Eileen.
I haven's seen an Indigo Bunting in a few years. We used to have them along the lane to our home at the farm. Beautiful birds.
Beautiful mosaics...the deer are just so graceful and pretty...even though they eat our garden.
So lovely. I really enjoyed seeing the wildlife and birds!!
You are so good at capturing nature with your lens! I would love to follow you around for a day...no, a week!
Eileen: Wonderful capture from one great park.
I have seen photos of Big Meadows. It is one of the great places to photograph! Wildlife and nature's beauty abound!

Your photos are such delight.
There is such a lovely light in your photos Ellen. The Shenandoah Valley is such a peaceful place. The indigo bunting is a beautiful bird!
As much as I like birds, I love looking at deer, they're so cute.
Beutiful photos. I've seen eastern bluebirds but never an indigo bunting. It's stunning.
Haven't been to Big Meadows in several years. Now I want to go again! Thanks for sharing.
Oh my - I haven't seen a scarlet tanager since I lived in Maryland in the 80s. And I've never seen an Indigo Bunting, but always wanted too. Thanks for sharing.

Morning Eileen
I don't think we have the Scarlet Tanager or the Indigo Bunting in the UK so it is wonderful that with blogger you can share the pictures with me and others who don't know them!! Thank you and have a great week, Jackie in UK.
What a wonderful collection of photos. The little fawn is absolutely adorable, those ears really stand out in the sun. I have never seen an Indigo Bunting, it is a beautiful little bird.
Love those cute little birds! So colourful! And the deer peering above the tall yellow grasses look so beautiful! A great collection of photos!

Beautiful shots of creation!
Eileen -- those are just wonderful -- thank you for sharing your beautiful drive. The scarlet tanager singing almost gave me the same heart-in-throat feeling I would have gotten if I'd spotted him myself. Perfect picture.
Wonderful creatures, and gorgeous mosaic! The blue bird is a treat for me to see.
You live in such an amazing area to be able to step outside and see so many birds and those deer. We use to have lots of deer here on the island come right up to our windows (they also ate all my flowers) but as a result of more an more home building we see less and less deer now.

What a treat to see all this marvelous nature this morning. Your mosaics are so well done.
Fantastic colors on the bunting and tanager. The little fawn is adorable in the yellow grass.
Blue and yellow make a great combination. Enjoyed the collages, particularly the young Deer. FAB.

Wonderful nature shots you've captured. Such vibrant colors, too! Thanks for stopping by and keep on shooting!
wow..lots of breathtaking shots here...the blue bird is just so beautiful
my blue is here
These are amazing. To have caught the bird in the act of singing is wonderful. The indigo bunting is so bright. The one that I've seen at my inlaw's home is much darker (perhaps that's because the planter is in a shaded area and that's where we spy the bugger).
SO many lovely critters!!! I especially love the Indigo Bunting!
