Early Morning birds

I am linking up with Simple Things Sunday and  Mosaic Monday and Our World Tuesday

Happy Superbowl Sunday!!   GO RAVENS!!!!!!!

I love the view from our mailbox. I wanted to check out the condition of our street after yesterdays snowfall. Some day I am afraid the foresters will be cutting down these lovely pine trees along my street. :(

It will change my view for ever. But, for now I am enjoying the view.

Above is a mosaic of what I call our monster, the trumpet vine on our deck. We left it for the birds to hide in or perch. This morning they patiently waited for me to clean the snow off the feeders and fill them up.

More birds patiently waiting the Juncos and a White-Throateed Sparrow

It seems to be a happy place for the birds above are the Juncos and a Morning Dove.

Early this morning, I swept the snow off an area where I walk to fill up the feeders. I placed peanuts along the deck railing for the birds or I should say squirrels.

My cardinal couple waiting for their breakfast. I think they are telling me to hurry up.

What makes you happy? I am happy to keep my birds safe and happy. The birds are enjoying the food on these cold winter days. I hope you enjoyed my post. Thanks for stopping by and I always appreciate your comments.

  1. And I say... Go CARDINALS! LOL - your cardinals are so gorgeous. Their jaunty red against the snow always takes my breath away.

I sure hope you're wrong about the trees, that would be a travesty and a tragedy!

I love your deck and your chimes - what a lovely space you've created for yourself and your feathered friends!

    Enjoy the game!

  2. I hope your gorgeous pines along the roadway are never removed . . .

Love the Trumpet Vine hiding place . . .

The deck railing is a perfect place for a "daily feed."

The birds flocked in high numbers at our feeders yesterday when the snows paused for a few hours. This morning it looks like it has been a return of the white and a steady stream still exists. We have lost count of the numbers . . . although many hours of snow removal have occurred.

The only red we have seen is of "the couples" who visit our largest feeder. Where are the Redpoles?

  3. Love your cardinals in the snow. So cheery.

My superbowl knowledge is this: my son won't be home for supper tonight because he will be at a friend's superbowl party. And now I'm off to refill my bird feeder!

Your Cardinals are lovely.. I haven't seen the pair at my feeders lately !!
What makes me happy is when I go out on the deck in morning and shake the bag of dry mealy worm and say where are my babies...the Bluebirds
come down on the railing for me to fill there dish with them!! : )))

  12. Those pine trees are so beautiful. I hope they don't cut them down! They look even better with a coating of snow.

The cardinal couple is so cute. I'm a sucker for animal couples! It makes me happy to care for my husband and animals. I love to take care of them, which primarily includes feeding duties, haha :)

  14. Hello, and thank you for your comment at knitsofacto.

Wow, those Cardinals, that red is quite unlike anything you would see on a native bird here in the UK. And the view from your mailbox ... what a joy :)

  15. Long live your garden birds, I think that they will be in a heaven living with you, nice photos.

  16. I'd be very happy to see a flash of red from a Cardinal or blue from a Jay. We don't have Cardinals on the Island, but I remember how beautiful they were against the snow when we lived in Ontario.

  18. Hello Eilees
I'm visiting you from New Zealand.
I'm also taking part in Mosaic Monday this week.

Oh such wonderful pics - it all looks so peaceful.
It's comforting to know that others are looking after our little feathered friends. They depend on us especially during the cold months of winter.

  60. Hi Eileen. I love them all. I can't pick a favorite. But, I am with TexWisGirl in regards to that wind chime. That is neat.

What makes me happy? A lot of things. But, I just recently got into bird hunting and I really love it!

It always makes me extremely happy when I am out some place on a back road and I get a really good capture!

It doesn't happen nearly as much as I would like but hopefully I will get better with practice!

I hope you have a smashing happy day!

  67. Hi Eileen,

These are terrific pictures!!! My husband and I LOVE feeding the birds, and we've taken some photos, too; but ours aren't nearly as good as yours. Your picture of the Juncos and the Morning Dove is interesting because we only see them as ground feeders at our house. I think because we don't have anything large enough for them to perch on.

We've been getting Blue Birds at our feeder this year, lots of them every day. They're beautiful to watch. And I love the sight of cardinals against the white snow.

Thank you for visiting me from Mosaic Mondays, and I hope you have a wonderful week.
