I am linking up with Mosaic Monday and Our World Tuesday They are both fun memes to participate in...I hope you can join in with the fun or check out some of the post.
I am sharing some photos and scenes from around our yard for the past week maybe a little over a week.. I think everyone knows by now I love taking photos of the moon.. The shots are straight out of my camera (Canon SX40) which has awesome superzoom.. No extra lenses are necessary.. And I do not have a tripod so all my photos are handheld.. some of the bird shots are taken from my dining room window.. I can stay warm and still enjoy seeing the birds outside my window..I hope you enjoy this series of images and the mosaics..
A few of my yardbirds, the American Goldfinches, Carolina Chickadee and the male Northern Cardinal are all year round visitors to my yard..
The Northern Cardinals are usually shy around me and my camera.. They take off as soon as they notice me..
The full moon was gorgeous...
One moon shot is at 109X and the closeup is at 140X.. also bottom right is a sunrise through the trees..this was taken from my driveway..
I like this shot of the moon with Jupiter (upper right) nearby.. The cloud lit up and on the right side one cloud has some colors..click to a larger image to see the beauty.
I thank you for your visits and all the wonderful comments..
I use Pic Monkey to create my mosaics, you can use Pic Monkey free or pay for an upgraded version.

ReplyDeleteYour sky shot is wonderful. I went out on the full moon and tried to get a shot through the trees, and just never managed a decent shot. Sigh. Need more practice with the programs off.

ReplyDeleteGreat moon shots Eileen..The little Finch is blowing in the wind, poor thing..Happy Sunday.
ReplyDeleteYou take the best moon shots!!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots ! I don't have a tripod either but I've gotten some decent moon pics on occasion. Not the first try but I got better at trying to hold steady. Nothing like yours though...just gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteVery nice, Eileen!
ReplyDeleteI tried to take pics of that same moon with Jupiter with my Canon G15. It's a nice camera, but it's not good for the moon or long distance birdie shots. Someday when some money appears out of no where...
~
I loved seeing your yardbirds, Eileen. I see many of the same types in my yard as well. Your moon shots are lovely as well.
ReplyDeleteI had the perfect shot for the moon the other night Eileen but I need my tripod! Your photos are always awesome so I'll just enjoy them instead.
ReplyDeleteThat one goldfinch is so fluffy looking, an adorable birdie.
Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday.
Birds are wonderful, and the Cardinal impresses me with its color. Regards.
ReplyDeleteWow, great shots of the moon!
ReplyDeleteVery nice shots !
ReplyDeleteisn't it wonderful that we don't have to travel anywhere to see such beautiful birds!!!
ReplyDeletei find the female cardinals to be more friendly than the males!!!
Beautiful birds and moon! You take awesome shots with your camera, Eileen. I have a Canon SX30 but am having a hard time holding it still. I do like it for the zoom feature.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful collection of images Eileen. So glad the Cardinal hung around for you and those moon shots are spectacular! Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI always admire your moon photos, Eileen--they are so crystal clear. It is amazing to see the craters so closely. The moon was very bright last week!
ReplyDeleteLove seeing that Cardinal and your moon shots are quite excellent.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous birds and great moon shots. My moon photos never seems to be all that great. Take care.
ReplyDeleteI'd never guess that your vivid bird shots were taken through glass! And I'm always amazed at your moon pictures. Just seems like something only NASA would be able to do!
ReplyDeleteI love how blogging has allowed anyone with a hobby to show their work. Much of it - and ALL of yours! - is equal to or better than anything "professional."
I always love your shots of the moon . . .
ReplyDeleteStill do . . .
But . . .
Mr Cardinal stole my heart this time!
Great post!
ReplyDeleteI'm particularly impressed that your photos are all taken "hand-held". So are ours, but they're not in the same class as yours.
Thanks for the cardinal photos. I've never actually seen a cardinal other than on the internet. They look lovely. It's a real treat for me to see them. Thanks for making that possible for me.
Have an excellent week.
Eileen, these photos are beautiful - I love the Northern Cardinal, a bird we don't have here. I wish we had, he is so stunning. I saw them in PA several years back during our cross country trip.
ReplyDeleteThe Canon SX40 is a great camera!!!
Hi Eileen, I really enjoy seeing the Goldfinches! I have seldom seen any here in Florida, so I do miss them. Your photography is wonderful. Have a really good coming week.
ReplyDeleteNice shots - the reach of these types of zoom lens is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteCheers - Stewart M - Melbourne
Hello Eileen, I can tell retirement suits you well. You are definitely not slowing down judging by the fabulous moon shots and the sunrise - did you sleep?!! I would love to have the red cardinals in our garden they are so exotic.
ReplyDeleteWren x
Love your bird pictures, my favourite is the plushy goldfinch :)
ReplyDeleteAnd the last one is just GORGEOUS!!!
One day I'll be able to do that, too :))
Have a happy week

Sending Lots of Love and Hugs from Japan to my Dear friend in America, xoxo Miyako*
I'm amazed that you can take such good photos through window.

ReplyDeleteLovely photos of the moon and the cardinals are gorgeous. Have a great day, Eileen!
ReplyDeleteFantastic images, absolutely stunning one of the moon with Jupiter.
ReplyDeleteDearest Eileen,
ReplyDeleteHow GORGEOUS your moon photographs are; yes, I love the one with Jupiter♡♡♡ And it sure is amazing you take these photos with handheld, unbelievable for me, haha.
Great birds shot and I always feel almost jealous you can see the beauties so close♬♬♬ My favorite is the Goldfinch lookijg cold :-)
Sending Lots of Love and Hugs from Japan to my Dear friend in America, xoxo Miyako*
(I might sending you 2 same kind comments. haha, silly me is not sure; please never mind)
Those are all beautiful. Love the moon.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are always enjoyable Eileen. Cute birds and impressive moon shots. Have a great day :)
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your moon shots and that wonderful cardinal, my favorite!
ReplyDeleteBirds...we aren't seeing any at our feeders. We have even dumped food and poured fresh food in the feeders. We don't have as many feeders, as in past years. The feeders are hanging from a window in the front and a window in the back. Perhaps the birds don't like the close proximity to the windows, although that has not been a problem in the past. Oh well, I,do,enjoy seeing your backyard birds!
ReplyDeleteGreat moon shots and the birds are really beautiful. I like the idea of staying inside and photographing them through the window - but I might need to clean some windows first!!
ReplyDeleteLovely captures as always, Eileen! Love your captures of the moon!! Awesome! Hope you have a beautiful week!! Enjoy!!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots as always. Thanks for the mosaic info must give it a try.
ReplyDeleteThat is a magical shot of the moon from your driveway. Amazing to think the clarity of all your moon shots would be the envy of early astronomers.
ReplyDeleteYour moon shots are magical. And you must have really clean windows with no rain spatters to take such great photos of the birds out your window. Have a wonderful week watching them.
ReplyDeleteI am impressed with your images since I bought the SX50 last year and could not seem to get any good photos from it handheld. It was supposed to go with me in the kayak, but I ended up returning it. You have obviously mastered yours. Great job!
ReplyDeleteGreat moon shots! Lovely mosaic of photos!
ReplyDeleteHappy Week to you,
artmusedog and carol
Wonderful shots of the birds and moon. I saw the full moon at sunrise one day on my way to work when it was so huge and almost pink that it was a good thing I'd left my camera at home. I fear I would have tried to photograph it and I wasn't in a safe place to do it.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots of the birds! I have a Canon SX 50, and I absolutely love it! As far as I can see, it's hard to beat a superzoom camera with no extra lenses to carry around!
ReplyDeletethe moonshots are wonderfully captured.
ReplyDeleteWorth a Thousand Words
Beautiful pictures, beautiful birds! I love those pictures of the moon!
ReplyDeletegorgeous moon and cardinal. lovely! ( :
ReplyDeleteVery pretty birds - your camera and you do a nice job!
ReplyDeleteWonderful mosaic made with the pics. Very impressive moon shots!
ReplyDeleteGreat Birdie and Sky pictures, Eileen... Right now, we have TONS of Pine Siskins.. There are so many and they are messy and loud --so they scare away some of my normal birds.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Betsy
Gorgeous shots of the cardinal and the moon!
ReplyDeletethe full moon looks absolutely stunning :D
ReplyDeleteWollongong Harbour
From Moon shots to bird shots, all of them are remarkable beauty Eileen. Happy week~
ReplyDeleteBeautiful moon shots, but boy do I love the birds.
ReplyDeleteFabulous shots of the moon....I love when the moon rises.
ReplyDeleteThese birds are so beautiful! And your photos of moon and sky ... amazing!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots of your lovely birds, dear Eileen!!! And your last photo with the moon and Jupiter is so beautiful!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the birds and very interesting info about the camera, Eileen. As for the moon shots, they are spectacular, especially the one with Jupiter peeking out through the cloud.
ReplyDeleteI am surprised to learn that goldfinch don't migrate! All your birds are so sweet and your moon shots are magnificent
ReplyDeleteWow- exceptional moon shots - am amazed they are hand held. I've had no luck with that at all...
ReplyDeleteAnd that male cardinal is so handsome! I rarely see cardinals here and have never caught one with my camera.
You have so many colorful birds in your area. We have a lot of black birds, crows, mockingbirds, doves, and tiny brown birds. Sometimes robins pop by and during the summer and autumn months, a couple of hummingbirds.
ReplyDeleteTake 25 to Hollister
lovely world for birds, and birders :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful bird and moon shots!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post. I love your observations, Eileen, moon and birds. I think you will know by now that your Red Cardinal is a bird I would *really* love to see. It is just so flamboyant in its scarlet plumage that it comes as surprise to me to discover that it is shy! Thank you for visiting my blog!
ReplyDeleteLove the shots of the goldfinches. We have them only a few months here, in their winter plumage. I enjoy their visits to the sock feeders, even though they consistently fight for a spot on them. Cardinals are one of my favorite "residents". So lovely! And I love the sweet sounds of the chickadees :)
ReplyDeleteThe red cardinals are so beautiful to see. I wish this were also in the Netherlands. Prachtie photos Eileen!
