Blackwater Wildlife Refuge

I am linking up with   Mosaic Monday and Our World Tuesday   They are both fun memes to participate in...I hope you can join in with the fun or check out some of the post.

These are some photos from our recent daytrip to Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge in Cambridge Maryland.. Hubby and I had a fun time watching the Bald Eagles, Northern Harriers, hundreds of Canada Geese and just seeing the scenery of Maryland's Eastern shore..

A Bald Eagle on an Osprey nest..there is a web cam attached to this nest.

We saw hundreds of Canada Geese, possibly a Red Shouldered Hawk and more Eagles.

A scenic view of the Blackwater NWR from the wildlife drive..

Above is a standoff with a Bald Eagle standing over a dead goose, a Great Blue Heron watching the show and a juvenile Bald Eagle far left and the flock of Canada Geese are the audience.

A few birds in flight...top right is a juvenile Bald Eagle, a Northern Harrier, a Great Blue Heron and bottom left is an adult Bald Eagle..

The Bald Eagles are plentiful at Blackwater NWR, we saw them all along the wildlife drive..

I enjoyed stopping to watch the Northern Harrier working the marsh land.

Walk this way....pretty hard to do on ice..hard to do for this juvenile Bald Eagle.

The adult eagle to junior...Do as I do.

Eagles in a row.. The far left eagle to the others...what are you doing back there?

Above some Canada Geese, Gulls and Tundra Swans...

Something spooked the Canada Geese and they all took off.. I hope you do not mind all these photos. I think I added a few more than usual.

I hope you enjoyed the photos and mosaics..I thank your for visiting and all the wonderful comments..

I use Pic Monkey to create my mosaics, you can use Pic Monkey free or pay for an upgraded version.
I hope you can join in on our fun at  Mosaic Monday and   Our World Tuesday

Hi Eileen---loved seeing all the eagles.
Hubby and I are headed soon to the Mississippi to watch them. Last year there were over 50 of them....and they had quite a time of it eating ducks.
Poor duckies!

Wow, you've got to see many birds over there! :)
I think it's funny, that the eagle does not look as majestic standing in the water as he does flying up in the air. Looks kind of plump to me :))
I liked all your many pictures :)
Have a fine week

What a wonderful excursion, Eileen. I love the photo of the bald eagles in the bare branched trees - very dramatic. The Canada geese are beautiful, aren't they? Wonder what scared them!

Have a lovely week!

Your words fit your photos so well, and I often wonder if animals do talk to each-other, in the same species or different? Super photos, as always.

We have only in very recent years have had a resurregence of eagles to our area. Our county is bordered by Wisconsin and Lake Michigan, on two sides. We also have a couple of major rivers and a chain of lakes in our county. It seems the eagles are happy.

It's wonderful Eileen that the Eagle is now on the rebound. At one time- you would never see one!! Wonderful shots today!!!

I know you said on FB you wished you were here in the warmth too and so do I. It would be so much fun to go on a birding hike with you. I'm seeing lots of birds, many ospreys in our area and other predators that I don't know the name of.
I liked viewing all of your photos Eileen, I find them interesting; thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday.

Those are amazing photos. I like the view of the Blackwater. It looks so serene. The picture of Canada geese and tundra swans are pretty mystical. I'd love them framed. And the geese as they flew off is awesome to look at. I can just imagine how it is like to hear them flying in unison.

Phil Slade said...

Wow, so many eagles to look at you were almost spoilt for choice there Eileen. Blackwater looks a super place to spend lots of time - as long as its not too cold.

Enjoy your week and your birding.

That would be such a great way to spend a day. We often see one or two eagles, but sometimes if a deer gets hit on the road, well get five or six of them or more coming to the banquet.
