Trough Creek & Raystown Lake

I am linking up with   Mosaic Monday and Our World Tuesday

They are all fun memes I listed above to participate in...I hope you can join in with the fun  and check out some of the participating posts.

Back in June, hubby and I took a daytrip to Trough Creek State Park and the Raystown Lake and Dam in Pennsylvania.

I read about this park on Felicia's Blog and we are always looking for new places and parks to visit. Felicia's photography is awesome, my images do not compare but I hope you enjoy.

At the park we took the hike to the Suspension Bridge, Rainbow Falls and the Balance Rock.

It felt a little shaky while crossing, but is was fun.  And while crossing the bridge I saw a  Great Blue Heron flying down stream. During this outing I heard more birds than I actually saw.

Here is the Rainbow Falls, I was hoping for a little more water on the falls.  I assume there had not been enough rain in this area at the right time.

We saw a lot of butterflies while at the Balance Rock. One Tawny Emperor was attracted to my hand.

Silly hubby laying under the balance rock, if it fell it would go the other way.

More butterflies were seen around our picnic area.

This is the Red-spotted Purple, a weird name for a butterfly.

Raystown Lake and some wildflowers.

A pretty view of the Raystown Lake and some of the wildflowers.

A few Killdeer were seen at the lookout at the Raystown Dam . I have a lot more images from our visit to this area I may do another post.  I hope you enjoyed our visit to the park. As always thank you for visiting my post and for the nice comments.  Have a happy new week ahead!

I use Pic Monkey to create my mosaics, you can use Pic Monkey free or pay for an upgraded version.
I hope you can join in on our fun with Mosaic Monday  and Our World Tuesday

Thanks to Judith our host of Mosaic Monday and to the hosting group of Our World Tuesday: Arija, Gattina, Lady Fi, Sylvia, Sandy and Jennifer and to Monica for hosting NF Trees.

So nice to see all the butterflies and wildflowers, Eileen! A very pretty place. Hope you have a great week!

What beautiful butterfly photos, Eileen. The scenery is spectacular too. Love that your hubby "chanced" the Balance Rock. Is that graffiti on the rock? Is it permitted? Or did someone vandalize it? This happens often here in SA; especially with the Bushman rock art in our mountain caves. Have a wonderful day. Jo

These photos make me want to go for a walk outdoors. Beautiful and refreshing feeling captured in these shots.

Very nice, Eileen

It's a shame someone had to graffiti up Balance Rock.

I think your "silly" hubby has been taking lessons from Bill :) That photo made me smile. I love that blogging took you to these beautiful locations. The waterfall didn't have so much water, but it was a lovely shot regardless. I was blown away by the butterflies. To have one land on your hand must have been a neat experience. Such a variety and so beautiful. Loved the Killdeer as well. Beautiful post, Eileen! Have a wonderful Monday!

Love the Tawny posing on your hand!

Also I'm a big fan of Red-spotted purples, they hang around here on Cacapon Mountain, W.V. I see the White Admiral (which they are genetically nearly identical to) far less.

Eileen, You've taken some great photos of the lake and environs. Have I ever told you I'm originally from PA? So many butterflies and wildflowers - looks like you visited at a perfect time.

I think that I would be a wee bit shaky on that bridge as well. Those butterflies are really gorgeous Eileen, and so many. Have a Happy day and a happy week~

So many different butterflies but what a pity that others don't respect the area and think it OK to write on the rocks.

Hi Eileen, I sure enjoy seeing all the wonderful critters on your blog. Those butterflies were gorgeous. Have a fine Tuesday tomorrow!

Mosaics are a great way to sum up a lot of events in one moment. You are the master of this and I appreciate you teaching me how to do my own. Again, beautiful area Eileen and like you, when I see a big gorgeous forest full of sound, I get a bit intimidated. I can hear them but rarely spot the tiny ones. And there are lots of tiny ones that dart around:) That bridge looks like fun:)
