Saturday's Critters #97

Saturday's Critters #97

Happy Saturday, it's time to share your critters and post. Any kind of critter will do, even a new or old post.. I appreciate everyone who is linking in with this week's critter party.

For this week's critter post I am sharing some various yard birds and some critters that were all seen in my yard during the month of September.

Above is the juvie male Scarlet Tanager seen with the dark wings.

The Gray Catbirds were seen all summer long.

The Tennessee Warbler hung around for a couple of weeks. It was enjoying the berries.

I believe this is the Eastern Wood Pewee perched on our Weeping Cherry tree.

The female Ruby-throated Hummingbird hung out in the weeping cherry tree, close to the hummingbird feeder.

A chipmunk likes to sit on top of our wood pile.

This American Bullfrog was enjoying his favorite rock next to our little pond.

A young deer maybe a female showed up in the yard on Sept 21, the bow hunting season in the woods near our house started on Sept 11th. I hope this deer stayed safe.

The Swainson's Thrush was another new yard bird for me.

A new yard bird for me, it is the Summer Tanager. It is neat comparing the Summer Tanager to my first photo above of the juvenile male Scarlet Tanager. I hope you enjoyed my yardbirds and critters. As always I appreciate my blogging friends joining in on my Saturday Critter party. Thanks for linking up and I also appreciate the nice comments. Have a Happy Weekend

  21. Hi Eileen, your garden certainly attracts the birds and other critters. I love them all, but the Summer Tanager is my favorite. Hunting is also a popular "sport" here in South Africa, unfortunately. I hope that female deer stayed safe. Enjoy your weekend. Jo

  27. You see more birds and critters in your own yard than I see in many nature parks! Wonderful . I admire your ID skill and knowledge so much as well! Would never have known the tanager Juvenile.

  28. Sad how we are concerned about the birds getting enough to eat by putting out feeders and must worry if a cute little deer can manage to stay alive.
People in northern Ontario rely on hunting moose and deer for meat whereas I've always bought mine (beef and pork) at a grocery store.
    Thanks for hosting Eileen.

  32. So lovely all of them and I did not know about the gray catbird... The young deer is amazing, but more stunning is to have a visit like this one!! What a joy to stay in the middle of nature! I'm dreaming to have such a chance of staying in a a house with a courtyard. Till then I capture moments in my sister yard or when I go in travels far away from the noise of the city...
Autumn greetings and a sunny weekend!

  33. I also had the Swainson's Thrush visit my yard last month. Unfortunately, two of them struck our huge glass windows and didn't make it. I also had a couple of yellow warblers but I couldn't get a very good photo. The tanagers in your yard are really cool.

  47. What a beautiful assortment of birds you have there! I love the colouring of the Summer Tanager, a bird I've not heard of before. I had a pair of catbirds in my yard one summer only ... such a delicate bird that was actually quite friendly. I fed him apples through the summer when I saw the male and a robin fighting over one. I hope that deer survived the hunting season too.

  57. Hi Eileen, Yes, it is a Pewee. I happily spotted the second deer I have seen in Florida this afternoon. It was a long way across a swampy lake around the area. We have a new nature preserve and this area apparently attracts deer as well as Sherman Squirrels and wading birds/water birds, and 'gators. Have a tremendously good Sunday tomorrow!
