Saturday's Critters #255

Welcome to Saturday's Critters !

If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

As of Oct 25th I was still seeing the Screech Owl in my front yard. A few times it was seen outside my window that I call my Treadmill window. I have posted often about the birds I have seen out my "treadmill" window.  It is actually our den window facing the front yard.

Oct 17th, during the  evening I heard a bang, the poor owl must have flown into the window. Or he was chased into the window. Not the best photo below, but you can see the owl's wings looked a little ragged. But, it was Ok and left a little later.

Another evening I heard the owl calling before I saw it again out the same window. It likes sitting in our rhododendron bush which is right next to the window and house. Sorry, these owl photos were taking from my hallway looking toward the window so I would not spook the owl.

The weekend of Oct 26th we were dog watching for my son, he went on trip to Salem Ma for a long weekend. We enjoy the company of our grand-dogs, Nibbles and Chewy.

Chewy is on the left and Nibbles is on the right.

Oct 25th the Painted Lady butterfly on the butterfly bush.

Oct 23rd, the chipmunk filling his cheeks.

Oct 28th the Screech Owl was back looking into my window.  I had to lighten this photo, it was getting dark out and I did not use a flash.

Oct 31st, the Screech Owl is again sitting in the rhododendron in the evening.  This photo was taken using ISO 3200 and I still had to lighten in my photo program.

I appreciate and thank everyone who links up their post and for all the wonderful comments !

Here is a list of my linky parties;

  8. Wonderful post! I'm glad the owl is ok. He does look a bit ragged after his run in with the window. The squirrel looks very healthy and well fed and I like the look on it's face. The grand-dogs are so handsome. I especially like Nibbles' profile. Have an awesome weekend Eileen. xx

  23. What a wonderful thing to have the Screech Owl so close. Once you locate them they do seem to occupy the same perch, so are often easy to refind. But to have one so close is a treat to be sure.

  24. Ha, ha Eileen. Love those descriptive names, Nibbles and Chewy. Looks like your owl knew it was Halloween and called for a treat.

  26. oh eileen, the owl pictures are beautiful, what a wonderful experience. you are photographing it the correct way as to not spook it and chase it away!! this reminds me of my encounter with the oriole, i was very careful to respect it but in the end, we became friends!!

the chipmunk is a hoot and a half, you captured a great shot of it!!

and how nice to see a painted lady, so late into the season!!

  27. I like the pics Eileen . . .
The Screach Owl has found “his place!”
I found a children’s book the other day, tucked away in some of my fall, Halloween things.
It is a wonderful book . . , A book I had purchased for my first grandchild several years ago.
I enjoyed the read, you might too, Owl Moon . . .

Grand dogs look like fun visitors.
Great photo of the chippie with hi#cfull cheeks!
I hope a screeching owl won’t frighten the butterflies away!

  35. The owl appears to be comfortable around your place, as long as he doesn't knock into any windows again.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Oh! I hope he didn't hit the window. :( You could put stickers on it so they know it's there.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Looks the owl likes you to see, so comes around your windows but it looks scared too. The dogs seem trouble-free to look after and as company, hope you enjoy.

  61. How great to have this little owl visit each year. I enjoyed your photos of it, as I did of the grand-dogs, chipmunk and others. Have a great week Eileen.

  62. Oh my goodness, so happy your owl was okay. That happens here too, with birds and usually they are okay. Sometimes quite stunned! Love the pups and the big cheeks nibbling all he can.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Wonderful to have an owl visiting your own backyard -- i'm glad he wasn't hurt by his flight into the window. Your son's dogs are so cute.

    ReplyDelete
  64. I think you have a friend in that owl, Eileen! What I wouldn't give to have an owl that nearby!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Nibbles and Chewy are real cuties! It's nice of you to keep them for your son!

And that peeping-tom-owl - Wow! Having one so close, is really cool, and I'm a bit envious! The crows chased our resident barred owls away this past spring, and I really miss them.

  66. That must have startled you when the Owl banged against your window. That chipmunk looks mischievous, doesn't he? Great photos, Eileen.
